Here in Indonesia they make a drink out of Aloe Vera plants. They remove the skin and use the gelatinous inner parts. It’s cooked and made sweet. Personally I don’t like it. But here in Asia it’s very popular. It’s also an effective topical treatment for minor burns.
It is continental. Aloe juice has been around in the US probably prior to the year 1970 for retail or commercial sale. Herbalist and naturalist folks like that kind of stuff. Hippies in the 1970s got into health stuff.
Aloe juice is soooo good and it's definitely continental as im from ireland. another thing which I think is amazing is that aloe bonsai, 6 years that's impressive.

i'm always on the lookout for unusual bonsai, and anything that's both 1. a succulent, and 2. a monocot plant (rather than the much more common dicot plants in bonsai) hits both of those points. most monocots do not grow into a 'true' woody tree form due to anatomical limitations, so it's always neat to see the exceptions.
I think It Is a a.barbadensis, It the species with more aloina than other species, Is suitable to use as depurative media, gel Is also used for flesh burnt. Is so healthy
Tough plant to prune! I was thinking maybe pruning away the lower leaves in between the trunks so it will show the trunks better and hope it would encourage more branching up top
I love how unique they are! Your first aloe is somewhat growing symmetrical! There is a root on each side growing similar opposite, and pups in the , middle that look like twins!
mondays do kinda suc- ulent lol. i been wanting a aloe! one of the smaller variety ones not just to bonsai but to use as rooting hormones for my other plants(canna lol) mostly. iba works but cost $ and isnt natural. thanks for sharing always nigel! happy bonsai'ing everyone
Well, I guess anybody turning an Aloe into a bonsai is at least 6 years behind you, as far as I know. I have an Aloe house/medicinal plant that I need to repot. Might try to catch up …. ;)
It's been a little while since I checked in on your collection, and this was one of the trees I was most excited to see! It's looking wonderful, the ramification developing is truly a spectacle to behold! I know you keep saying you think there is a risk the trunks would die back if you cut off the growing tips, and it's too big a risk... but I wonder if you cut of _all_ of the growing tips, there's enough energy in the tree that it would have to go somewhere, right? Would that potentially lead to an entire flush of pups coming up all over the trunks? Might be a way to leap forward a bit in ramification? Seems less risky to do all of the trunks together than just one perhaps? Or maybe you could experiment with trunks that you're planning to remove anyway and remove the growing tip entirely (down to the woody bit) and see how it reacts!
the medusa...the tree is female medusa.....my best friend...my mentor is the male medusa with his creative hand...hi hi hi hi....joke Mr. Nigel...hi hi hi
I like the ducks chattering and that rooster!!!

This succulent would make a great Halloween video along with the Franken Ficus.
I noticed that you did have a fairly established pup forming on that one tall branch you thought didn't have any, on the upper left at 9:35
Thanks yet again for another great video. You are truly an innovator in the art and an inspiration to us all!
Nice sharing 👍👍
I'm sure that "alien slime" is very good for your hands! free moisturizer
A true trailblazer in the bonsai world
Just wait until that Medusa Aloe flowers. It's going to be incredible. I imagine it will start in the next few years.
I can't wait, I've had one of my Aloes flower and they are so nice!!
6 years strong!

I'm hoping to raise the canopy up top, but I don't have the heart to prune off the lower trunks yet! Thanks Xin!

Awesome. I've got a 2 ft tall climbing aloe that I've been wondering what to do with. Looks like I'll be trying the bonsai treatment with it.
👌👌👌...!!!
Looking great and I'm sorry I can't make myself get up early enough to join you with these premieres.
👍👌
Maybe you can rename it to Suculent Someday … so you can post it any day of the week 🤷🏻♂️
😀🙃
I love the name Medusa 😆
Take the droopy leaves off so the foliage all goes up
You could call it Serleena (from men in black II) as well 🪱

Me too. I'm seriously considering turning it into a bonsai but... I'm supposed to be cutting down 😭
