- The Mad Mayor of M Town: the M5 Competition!! Hey guys and welcome back to RBR!! And here is the M review you’ve been waiting for!
Now i have reviewed the Standard M5, and found it to be the best Grand Touring super saloon around. But sooner than expected this new Competition has landed, and RBR as a channel has evolved since too, and now we love going into the how and why of a car!! So let’s get some perspective on this automotive icon by checking out the history of M Division, specifically with regards to the 5er M.
We’ll look all the way from the first car by BMW Motorsport the M1, to the first taste M535i in the E12 model, and even the catalyst from Mercedes via it’s 190E 2.3 16v Cosworth. Then the first with the E28 M5, the larger E34, the untouchable E39 M5, the Black Sheep E60 With its V10, the turbo charged F10, and finally the F90.
Yet now so soon comes the competition, BMW M have clearly stated when introducing this car, that now every high performance version of their M cars will get a standalone bonkers version. Be it comp, cs, GTS or otherwise. So let’s also see what you need to do to an M5, to make it a “Competition” for the reasonable £6500 upgrade cost.
My question is, did is it just better then the standard M5? Or does it have its own purpose? Do you feel the quicker power, or are the charms elsewhere?

Only problem with this review is his laddish dismissal of the f10 which actually is the true innovation in the M5 history and its 4.4. litre turbo engine, which surpassed the v10 of the previous m5 and its competition version has suspension mods. for example set the agenda for the f90 which engine wise is merely a retuned f10 engine, with less weight. For 99.5 % of BMW M5 everyday drivers wanting performaance and not tracking the car, the F10 is all the car they will need performsnce wise

Yeah Raz certainly deserves more subs, none of the other UA-camrs make car content like he does. I'm sure his channel will grow more rapidly when he reaches 100k, most channels generally do.
To much information, to serious and to understated for the younger audience. - Look at Moto Mans Channel. - At least it has one good thing: The audience is nice to discuss with and not a lot of Spam Comments. - RBR Quality will succeed at the end, people just need to mention and appreciate it. Sometimes it takes a while.
roz and team will follow but trendy, non-sensical loud mouths get the attention quicker unfortunately

BMW absolutely nails the ride height of their cars. I love how you get absolutely minimal wheel gap from the factory on all of their performance models.
I have a standard f90 M5 and had the M5 competition as a loaner car while waiting for my car to be delivered and Mr AMG is 100% correct in his evaluation of both cars
In many years watching youtube car reviews, I never saw such a great quality coming from an youtuber! It requires an unbelievable amount of work, passion and talent to achieve this level! Love how do you compare the cars exterior/interior design features and the research behind your reviews! Just to mention for example, the "quadrifoglio" story from the Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio review and now the central console from old generations m5 in comparison to the current generation. I finally meet someone who agrees with me, BMW M cars and Mercedes-Benz AMGs are two totally different cars. Comparing the two is not worth it. They both do things differently

@@drdj69 Even he cant be totally impartial, his love for AMG is too strong. M5 always has been and still is king of saloons. The e class is closer than ever though, for the first time.

You really are spot on regarding the comments on comparing the M car to the AMG. They are made for different requirements and tastes. Neither is "BAD" by any stretch of the imagination. As an E39 M5 owner I really enjoy your reviews specifically because you evaluate each of the many cars on their own merit. You thereby provide a nice objective view which is sometimes difficult to do. Keep up the great evaluations. you deserve far more than the numbers you have.

Love the M5.. I had the opportunity to drive a 2018 model around Germany for about a week last October. The car was already blisteringly fast... can't imagine the Comp : )

Although I truly love your history lesson with car lineage, the last few min were a fantastic placement for such variant of an iconic automobile. But this car is so fckng bland. First time I saw it it was so blandy fckng underwhelming it made no sense, maybe it was the spec, silver, black wheels, black interior, but still, f10 you can see it a mile away. E60 samr, e39 same, you know it's something special, this you think "oh it's the new 5 series, the 520d decent good, oh wait, 4 tips, this is an m5"
@@cutdepiefails6596 I am about to order a 2021 M5 and agree with your assessment. I believe BMW wants the M5 to be a sleeper which, I disagree; it should be something special. For 2021, the new LCI M550 is going to even look more like the M5. I think for the extra money, BMW should make the M5 a little different from the standard 5 series. Currently, I own a 2018 M550 and believe BMW is diluting the M badge with marketing crap. (BTW, MB and Audi are all doing the same.)
Last, maybe BMW is reserving the uniqueness for the M5 CS.
Brilliant as always! My M5 Comp is at the port, just salivating watching the review while I wait. One day I will be saying “I was an RBR fan when he only had 50k subs”. One of the best around!

this is mind boggling me as well....in terms of car reviews, very (if any) little channels are better than RBR....Yet, there are absolute idiots running around London (you know how they are...) with more subs. My personal conclusion: as humans, we are drifting away from QUALITY - in anything we do, see, hear, or wish for. Such a shame.
Absolutely agree! Raz is 100% the best car reviewer on YT. I’ve been watching him for about a year and it’s sad how few viewers he has. All I can figure is he doesn’t market his videos very much. I hope over time it will take off, I’d hate to see him quit because he channel isn’t growing all that fast. He’s just the best.

I just want to say that I've only seen a few of your videos and mate....the fact that you have a stand in model of every damn car you are talking about pop up is blowing me away. You do a fantastic job at describing the culture behind the cars you are referring to and have a pic for every damn car....in the same angle...every time. I can imagine you making these videos with holograms popping up right next to you doing the same thing and doing a stellar job at it. Keep up the good work, you've earned my subscription.

Love the points you made in this video. Reminds me of that C63S Coupe interview you did with Michael Kübler where he said that every brand is trying to do right by their fans/customers (there's far more to it than just competition and numbers on a sheet).

Finally an M to dethrone the AMG E63s and in some ways the AMG GTR as well . Well done BMW M, to me right now this is the perfect all round car money can buy, V8, sound, speed, comfort, and luxury .. Although the Mr. AmG kept boosting the e63s on and off in the video, its ok , he still can't deny how good the F90 M5 competition is.. So well done on the review.

explain how? do you even know what you are saying?1) there is no M6 anymore, M6 production stopped last year2) F90 M5 competition is the fastest production BMW as of 2018. 3) Bigger number doesn't mean fast.. M140i is faster than a 6 series

This is 1 of the best reviews, actually videos I’ve seen on UA-cam. The CGI with the other cars was a brilliant touch. I always find myself double taping the screen to forward on 10 seconds or so, but I didn’t once with this. The car is phenomenal, but the video was better. But that is where he falls short... If you are looking to buy a Car such as this you would always compare it to the other Brand offering in the same class for you to ignore this point does not make it go away.. especially when you call viewers fools for suggesting to compare which is best.. That’s not fair or balanced.
Terrence Warner I agree but another good point made was that people usually have decided which one they would purchase already. Comparisons often times are used to strengthen one’s decision not to present an alternative. I just appreciate the fact that this isn’t another comparison as I love both monsters and I realize the differences are aimed toward two different buyers.
@@S_Kane truth be told I personally have a fond affection for both high performance brands from Germany. I currently own a BMW M4 and a E63 AMG.. I am considering change for my E63 and naturally the BMW M5 is on my short list. So with that said a real world opinion on which car in his opinion drives best all round would have been welcomed. The rivalry between these two Germany super saloons stretches into decades. A honest detailed description would not have gone amissed regardless of whether you favoured a particular vehicle. You never call your audience fools for having a valid desire for a good evaluation that's wrong and will always alienate.. Just the same way as if I called you such a term... Thanks for your reply ✌
Terrence Warner I’m in a similar situation because I have an e63 and have been considering an M5 as a replacement. First time I see a video in this channel and I like what I'm seeing, great review and production, maybe the best car review I've ever seen lol. Yes the all electric proposition my soul was hurting when you said that.
And as for the interior yes it's a little 80's but it's simple and slick. and for BMW owners who go from one BMW to another like me I feel right at home when I sit in a new car.

TRL Alonso unfortunately they don’t offer the red interior (sakhir orange) on the F90. Such a sweet color too. They need more interior choices on the F90.

That last bit about comparing an M to an AMG is so true.. I like bimmers.. but I love benz.. so it's true. It doesnt matter if one does something better than the other. The point is which one speaks to your heart and soul.. M Comptition is sick.. but I would just rather put my money on the AMG gt 4door... that's just me.... this is why I like remove before race... pure car reviews, zero bias!!!!!

Great vid and Very Honest. It's probably true that AMG and Mpower have slightly different objectives and so their cars reflect that, and the kind of customers that really appreciate the differences will be attracted to either Grunt or Finesse, Bling or Precision. I've owned M5's without a break for 22 years now, but also have an AMG, and they are like chalk and cheese. The differences are getting smaller (AMG has caught up quick) but for me the M5 wins every time. It just drives more nicely than anything else. which is what I do in a car. It's got an aftermarket exhaust for when I need to wake the neighbours AMG style too so if a winner HAS to be chosen I'm afraid it has to be M Power every day.

Sold an RS5 for one of these; brilliant car. RS a great sports car, but not for day to day, and although the same price (loaded RS), the M5 has the quality and finish to reflect the cost.

@@inxs777 That's what subtle car is. M cars don't need all that plastic crap that other cars have in order to show that they are fast, like for example new RS cars. M5 looks awesome, it's more serious looking car and it doesn't attract any attention from non-car enthusiasts until you start it and leave every other car in dirt.

Outstanding narration from an AMG aficionado.
Im a big boy and i`ve driven every m5 and every e amg cars and here is my conclusion:
E class AMG cars were always trying to catch up m5 and never got it in any generation!
The current E63S is a monster fast and sounds great but its not as agile and precise as m5 is. Current M5 is agile yet so comfortable while e63 is closer to m5 at handling as never before but with a cost of disaster at comfort even in a comfort mode and yet does not match m5!
C classe amg same story. GT AMG also a strange looking car, like an axe on the wheels yet loses to m5 handling and precision.
If only M5 engines sound the way amg do...
Not an M fan boy, driving RS6 C8.

You're so right about the drag races. So many factors change the results anyway, it's pointless to use them as an argument for which car is better, or which car you should buy.
Some people just wana know if they can smoke you in a E63 with their M5s. And drag races have just proven that. They're just a thing that prove which car is BETTER at straight line acceleration, just as let's say track times prove the handling of one another. Nothing more nothing less. In general M5 is a more capable car than the E63, we can't deny that. But E63 in the other hand has its own thing, which their fans like.
@@snffz3492 Very true. But it's mostly down to the drivers skill not the car. A good driver will still be able set good lap times in the E63. Give a bad driver the M5 and he/she will probably still be slower. Both cars are great in their own ways.
@@DanielSadjadian Yes, but give both of them to a same professional driver, and M5 will be always faster. Especially the CP. CP did better than even GT63S in a german magazine, forgot which track it was. Imagine what M8 will do. Can't wait for it.
Vehab22 in a straight line between a standard m5 and an e63s is absolutely comes down to the driver. They are equally matched there, while only the CP is faster without question.
