Cars are inanimate objects, just a collection of metal and plastic, but to true car people, they are so much more. Really sorry for your loss.
Being an object doesn't mean having no value tho. I would definitely run back into my flaming house to save some of my possessions if it was me. I have sentimental attachments to a lot of things I own, gifts from people I love, stuff I saved up to buy, old stuff I had for so long and so on

Hi Dave we only properly met on that terrible night. I was one of the two people who was present when the fire started. For anyone who thinks that it could have been any different it could have only been worse. The mechanic who desperately tried extinguish the fire was within seconds of being overcome by incredibly toxic fumes. If he had hesitated a moment longer he would not be with us today. The fire alarm sounded at 20:46 by 20:55 a ball of flames was covering the workshop roof and the offices. The fire brigade arrived at 21:00 and worked tirelessly to save what they could. The firefighters themselves were petrolheads too. They were so determined to save what they could. It meant something to them, the fire was just too big. Nobody could have done more. It’s tragic for all involved.
Personally I’ve nothing but great admiration by your own leadership and determination to carry on. I’ve no doubt you and your team have what it takes to come back from this.
When you’re going through hell, keep going.

It's not sympathy Dave, it's genuine love and admiration. You guys have built a community, so many people from all walks of life and the world flock to your content, you're real, relatable, dedicated and absolutely amazing to watch. Me and my OH watch both you and Jimmy Oakes content religiously, please don't let your pride knock back the love of your community, you all deserve it.
I hadn't heard of you guys until this morning, when UA-cam randomly suggested the fire video to me. My husband lost almost everything he owned in a house fire a couple years before we met, and he lost so many collector items that can't easily be replaced, nor would insurance really cover all of them (guns, rookie cards, family items, etc.). It's jaded him against collecting stuff now; it's rare that he finds something he wants to keep for posterity because he's so scared of it happening again, even ~15 years later. Sometimes all we can do is rise above the ashes like the phoenix and carry on stronger than before.
Just remember you guys have a 100% success rate of making it through every difficult situation. So, just keep going and have faith.

Like I said after the “disaster video” I’m a 53 year old man and I didn’t mind admitting that I cried watching everything you had burn to the ground but, on a brighter note, I firmly believe, that Drift Games will rebuild and be bigger and better than ever before. Yes it will off course take time but I no doubt, whatsoever, that you will all make this happen and your positivity, your determination and your mindset will win the day.
You have been and will continue to be an inspiration to many, many young ones who love cars.

for those thinking you should've had this or that or whatever, once the fire hit the first car, there was no system that could prevent this disaster, it did take 7 trucks to put it out, we are just thankful everyone is physically ok

The amount of help offered, the numerous comments, messages, and visits from individuals you personally know, and even more people that you will probably never meet. The people (sponsors), that have reached out and aren’t walking away from you guys. It all speaks tremendous volumes to what the whole team means to everyone. Especially when you worked on most of the cars to improve it...but a garage can be a very dangerous place...my cousin have a garage who burned once because of welding we believe because they weld something the morning and the fire started at 2pm and they lived the garage 10am...it took 4 hours to burn we saw it on the cameras...something similar happened to a French youtuber called "la boiserie" they weld something on a BMW the morning and few hours later the car was on fire...shit happen

Use that excuse of Ireland not providing the correct legislation and insurance options. It’s 2024 and many countries have ways of insuring niche, sue the government…(I know how impossible that is and we the people never win. )

I hate that this happened to yall. I think that it’s great that you are going to keep moving! This doesn’t mean it’s not meant to be; it just means that this is now a part of your story. There is so much heart and soul put into this and you WILL rebuild. ❤

UA-cam commented on the previous video, UA-cam should now push these guys channel for them, put it on every car enthusiasts recommendations and let them build the channel, more the channel builds the quicker the build back no doubt

I’m not a drift guy but I am a car guy and I respect the passion you guys put into the cars and that amazing garage. I also spent 10 years as a firefighter/paramedic in the US which is probably why youtube recommended that particular video to me. I’m glad no one was hurt but the loss you’ve suffered is huge. I’m glad you’re giving yourself some time to grieve it. This cartoon canine Heeler from Australia once said: have a little cry, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep going. Sounds like you’re no stranger to doing that and you’ve already got a plan. You’ve earned a sub from me to watch Drift Games rise like a Phoenix and I plan to order some merch here soon to help make that happen.
If you're new here check out some of their other videos, they have a really unique take on the automotive world because they organize and run events more than they build cars. A lot of their videos are focused around the behind the scenes stuff of what goes into putting on these shows and competitions. Check out their DMEC finals videos from a while back, they built a racetrack inside a soccer stadium in Poland, put on a massive competition for 55k people, and tore it all down in 4 days. Their cars are super cool but it's their passion as car people that really makes them top tier.
@@Joebobinator I love BTS looks at other industries like this. So I’m excited to see how the company is rebuilt from this but to also see where they came from as I go back through the catalog. They seem like a cool group of regular car dudes doing amazing stuff.

The difference in this set back compared to the previous one is that you guys have 4 years more experience, 4 years more visibility and awareness, 4 years more fans, 4 years more friends within the niche and industry. You will build back, you will have the love and support of everyone you have provided joy and entertainment to with your content and events. Yes in the immediate aftermath it feels like a dark time, the light will shine again and it will shine brighter. I look forward to your guys bathing in that light in the near future.

I had a shop fire about 15 years ago. Since I was in the US, I was covered completely. I lost race cars, parts, and everything else, but I was covered down to the last nut and bolt. I couldn't imagine being in Dave's situation.
Ya, their biggest mistake in this whole thing was staying in Ireland. Get the hell out of that place. Why stay somewhere that makes your jobs 100x harder???

You don't have to accept an Irish policy. You goto a Lloyd's and they will cover you. You just pay a premium for what you want cover for.
My policy covers me to drive unregistered vehicles on the road. Police can stop you, but your insured. Mot or tax is civil not criminal.
As someone who personally has suffered from losing everything in a house fire, its heartbreaking to see all that you guys lost. Hope you can rebuild quickly and can keep doing what you all love.

Listening to your story of going through cancer , covid and now the business burning down and you guys are still fighting shows how strong you all really are.
I am gutted and literally was teary eyed watching the first video. I honestly didn’t want to watch this but know it’s one of the easiest way for me to support you guys. Like a phoenix I know you all will rise from the ashes!!
I can 💯 understand what you are saying. Lost my wife the beginning of 2020 and then covid took my businesses and I had to leave the dream home we built. I'm starting over now and it's so hard not to get frustrated but just stay patient.

I have an idea, start rebuilding with the cheapest easiest to find cars/parts. Turn those into monsters, to me, thats what its really about, using very little, to make a lot.
Making Something special out of a car nobody pays attention to.
Once you get floating again. You guys should totally keep atleast 2 of the burnt cars if at all possible, whichever one's are safe to yank out. Like the Supra would be amazing to revive, save as many pieces as you can. Clean it up nice and make it better.
And also make some totally nasty Rat Rod style cars from the real burnt pieces.
Like maybe even a steering wheel made from a melted rim.
The Phoenix is what you gotta call the first project if it uses one of the burnt cars.
When i first found your videos, i wasnt in a great shape mentally. U Guys helped me a lot to feel like i was part of this journey, I Cried like a lil boy who doesnt get what he wants when i saw your First post Dave, about the Fire.....I feel pain and lot of loss when i saw your video bout disaster, We Love You Guys, We Dont want to see you fold everything, We are here and support you whatever our budget can accept. I dont have budget to build an car and send it to you or just donate you 100+ euros, but I can support you watching your videos, subscribe to your channel, like your videos, buy a merch. If i could send you my car for you to be better i would this is how much drift games helped me with mental health. From Cancer to Covid to This, Idk how you guys find the zeal to rise out of the ashes but you all are truly inspiring. Seeing all the event passes and trophies and parts that had sentimental value gone truly was drowning. Never stop Drift Games, never stop. Although this is an absolute understatement of unjust, just remember, "It's your reaction to adversity, not adversity itself that determines how your life's story will develop."

Dave, I’ve lost everything in an apartment fire before and a lot of this resonated with me. Dealing with insurance blows and the whole process of getting back on you feet can feel so defeating. It took me almost a year to let it go. Give yourself and the team time man. You guys are great and what you do brings so many people together. The community you’ve created is where the real value is, remember that.
i'd pay for a flight here and back just to sit down with a couple of them and just talk over a pint. not about giving them stuff, talk about the fire, or anything about the channel. just to give them a few days off and just to get to know them, figure out how they get their motivation just figure them out. i respect hem so much! keep your heads up, know how you touched more lives then anybody couuld in a lifetime.
Don't worry about being miserable, mate; I'm one of those new viewers, and what strikes me most about your content is your honesty. My family has been through similar with our business burning down, but absolutely nothing on the level of one-off and sentimental value stuff that you guys had. You will rebuild.

Man... I've only just found out about this channel from these very tragic events, but I see and feel the love from the community. I read through the comments and feel the support raining in, I see the passion, I see the drive, I see the dedication. You guys really love what you do, YOUR COMMUNITY _really loves_ what you all do, and it shows.
I wish you all the best of luck rebounding from this tragedy, and I hope that, as you rebuild the Drift Games HQ somewhere else, not that you're able to restore it to its former glory, but that you build it up bigger and better than ever before. I've learned in the last 12 years since moving to Ireland... this is 100% the way the Irish are!! Absolute fighters and genuinely lovely people.
They'll Complain about the weather and taxation (haha both are equally terrible), but life-altering situations and hurdles... you probably won't hear a peep outside, "ah sure... you know yourself."
You guys have very much delivered on the genuineness and "We have the passion." That's why we watch! Keep doing what you're doing: building amazing cars, bringing motorsport to Ireland and the world, also making people laugh.

The roof collapsed on our 8 bay auto repair shop in September and insurance has refused to cover it. We’re working out of an RV and two rented bays 4 miles down the street. I now only see my family on the weekend until we can find a new location. When you said “is this something we’re just not meant to have no matter how hard we work for it” that hit very close to home.
Seeing everything I poured the last 14 years of my life evaporate over something that we didn’t even do is the worst feeling I’ve experienced in as long as I can remember. I’m sorry for what you guys are going through. To accomplish what you have already must mean you guys are serious fighters. You can do it!

To help fund rebuilding and getting through this, y’all should make a series in the meantime where y’all travel around visiting different countries, explore their drift scene, car culture, and show off some of the people’s builds. There’s plenty of very interesting content to be made from it (especially in more 3rd world countries), would be fun for everyone involved, would help bring in new viewers, help increase exposure for the communities you visit, and will surely cost a hell of a lot less than building or renting a new place, getting all the tools and equipment, and then building a new project. Just trying to give ideas

I have never resonated with another human as much as I do with Dave right now - the decision to not fold the business as most would, shows why you have elevated your business and your friends to where they are now, unwavering passion for life and cars. This is what a solidly built, honest, hard working human looks like! All the influencers trying to force you buy into forex, crypto etc is a massive selfish scam, this man is selfless and there is a huge difference. This group of people deserve the support. AND the insurance industry needs to watch this video and learn some things....

This is just a stepping stone in life this door has closed and it's not worth trying to reopen it but another door has opened and this had to happen for the next part of yalls journey. This is gonna make everyone better, bigger, and take everyone to NEW heights that would of never happened if this didn't happen first.

I don't think any of us care how professional your videos look, we'll watch anything you guys put out because we love you. In fact, the first Drift Games video I ever watched included a clip of Dave grinding the front bumper of his 180sx into the ground on the return to the pits in mondello. Did he look professional? Hell no. He seemed like a bit of an eejit, but a very very likable person so I stuck around and have loved every single moment.

people are giving back to you for all youve done for us over the years. from what youve done not only for irish drifting but for the world of drifting. The entire world of drifting and automotives have your back, no matter what this community will help you rebuild. i know it can never replace whats lost but it can fully restart a world of new hope and new memories
