Tom Hanks, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Sam Elliot, Harrison Ford, Kevin Costner... I can't believe the lineup of talent! This is the BEST Western saga ever!
I can't believe yall didn't notice the final destination 2 reference when the bridge "killed" the robot like the blond guy in FD2 when he slipped in his own spaghetti and the escape ladder killed him lol!!!
Hey, uh, I'd hate to interrupt, but I don't always love the 2009 movie, Monsters vs. Aliens. You know why? It makes references to horror movies and B-movies. And I especially do not always love your reaction to Monsters vs. Aliens, a 2009 movie.
I never exactly understood why many people disliked this movie, I found it hilarious as a kid and I still do as an adult, is just pure goofiness with some comedy gold moments.
As a kid me and my siblings had one of those SUVs with a tv in it, and we’d end up putting in a movie and watching it on repeat for months before switching it out. This was one of those movies and we loved it, I still do
It was the animation, it wasnt even close to the incredibles which is like 5 years older. Dont get me wrong i like it too but i can definitely see some flaws here

This is one of my favorite animated movies, all the great characters and Susan's development- not to mention the plethora of parodies, jokes, and odes to all the classics. Side-note, the scene with the President using music to try to communicate is an homage to the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

I love all the fun references to old sci-fi and horror B-movies. Link and Dr. Cockroach are pretty hilarious, and the voice cast is excellent. Not one of the best DreamWorks movies, but still good.
Monsters Vs Aliens is to me one of Dreamworks' most underrated movies. sadly it didn't do well because it was aimed at an audience that wouldn't understand the film properly because it was an homage to an Era of Cinema most of them weren't familiar with, a simlar thing happened with Planet 51 which was released the same year.
Sadly I may get a few reference here and there like the blob and lake monster weirdly didn't even knew much there was a monster film of a giant woman so watching this film kinda made me appreciate more but that was after seeing the film again there some funny shy that reminds me of. Just the select to me was so random.

One of my favorite movies. They never made a sequel, but there was a cartoon series. The cartoon was okay, but does have one of the best dodgeball episodes ever made. And as we all know, the dodgeball episode is the epitome of western animation.
This is a really underated movie. I love a good old sci fi adventure and all the sci fi elements are really good! The humour is great and the cast is absolutley stacked. The president and agent WR monger are particular stand outs. They're such hilarious and fun characters
The synthesizer part is a reference to Speilberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), where they use a synth to communicate with the aliens, though the score is done by John Williams. The following song is a parody to the close encounters scene, wherein the Axel F track is used instead of John William's score.
16:36 well, it is one of multiple ways of communicating with an alian life form - music, light, vibration, e/m waves and so on. It is actually used by real scientists and some of the human made crafts that sent into deep space have that kind of communication devices.

Considering that all of the original Giffen/Abnett Guardians were all created as pulp scifi characters, (the original Groot was even conceptualized in the late fifties) that's a good comparison

This is one of those animated movies that makes me sad the 3DTV trend failed. It's still an enjoyable movie but seeing it in 3D really changes the viewing experience as it was made to be shown in that format.
I enjoy this movie so much. Saw it in theaters not expecting much but I loved all the nods and references to old monster movies and the comedy was mostly always a hit 😂 Hugh Laurie is my favorite!
The idea of Earth’s feared, deplored, and scorned (monsters in this case) poetically becoming the defenders of the world that despises them from alien menaces is a solid foundation, but this franchise never truly got to flourish and meaningfully tap into that potential. And that awful spin off series did it even less favors. But even with its faults, I still don’t think people give it enough credit with its handling of its female lead, which was honestly trailblazing in many respects.

I can understand people either finding this movie hilarious or finding it unfunny.

This movie is above-average overall, but for some reason I really enjoy watching it. The most memorable of the forgettable animated films of the 2000s ... if that makes any sense. I think a lot of it really comes down to the visuals. It's like the animated version of Dune in that they did an amazing job of capturing scale and really making things feel giant. The cast is also great in their roles. I wish the story had another gear to it, but overall, it's just an enjoyable film with some great visuals.
The visuals do stand out. I also think the movie did a good job with size and sense of scale. Ginormica looked and sounded pretty big and heavy. And then there is also Insectosaurus, that robot and Gallaxhar’s ship.

Just to state the obvious, the movie Megamind came out in 2010, the year after this movie. So, if anything, Megamind (2010) took from Monsters vs Aliens (2009)
After the movie, there has been a tv show for Nickelodeon, a Halloween special and 2 shorts but never a sequel which I would love because this was the first movie I ever saw in the cinema
