Metromans new passion is music BECAUSE he's so bad at it. It's the one thing his powers can't help him with, therefore he's getting better on his own talents.
I really love Megamind's arc. He was never truly a villain. He just accepted the role everyone labeled him as. And while he did enjoy his best friend Minion, the gadgets, the banter with Metroman, and the theatrics of it all, he never truly wanted world domination. So he tried to create a new hero, who turned out to be an actual villain. But with the help of those he cares about, he was able to defeat Titan and become the hero he was destined to be. It's a beautiful story, and an excellent subversion of stereotypical superhero genre tropes at the time.

to Roxy's point, I just love how much this movie highlights the difference between being a "good" person and being a "nice" person. Hal was a "nice guy," but he was never a good person. whereas, Megamind was never really a "nice guy," but he was always a "good person." thanks so much for the reaction, John and Roxy! 😄
"Nice guy" has no meaning, all it means is "guy not interested in" Roxy just thinks "incel" means "mad women doesn't like him" because she's mediawashed I guess
It’s extremely difficult to be “good” when everyone around you is constantly reinforcing that they do not accept you. When there’s literally zero positive feedback to your attempts to do things right, your attempts to BE GOOD, then what’s the point of even trying? That’s the deeper message of Megamind. He just needed ONE person to believe in him & we all need at least ONE person to support us. We can’t just define it as nature versus nurture because it’s LITERALLY BOTH.
Roxy's dress actually shows her change through the movie. In the beginning, she wears red, which represents her loyalty to Metroman, who is a homage to Superman. As she starts spending time with megamind, she wears purple, a mix of red and blue. By the end of the movie, she wears blue, which represents Megamind.
Having watched the sequel series, i feel it's a bit overhated, of course I'm not saying they were good or anything, but there were some good ideas and concepts, just horribly executed.
When Megamind is ordering the laser to fire, if you pay really close attention, you see Metroman blip out for a second and show up behind Megamind, as foreshadowing for later when he's retelling the story about using his super speed to clear his head.

Especially MetroMan, it would have been easy to make him the good guy who's actually bad but I like that he really is a good guy and eventually helped his rival (who he actually saw as a friend) become his best self.
The scene where Hal flies Roxy around the city thinking he's being romantic is supposed to be a parallel to that famous scene in Superman where he does the same thing with Lois Lane.
I think people really missed out on Megamind because, unfortunately, it came out the same year as Despicable Me (similar premise as well, plus marketing, etc.) Still, it had no business being this good, and it holds up so well to this day, love it!
Given that both Megamind and Monster Vs Aliens are both DreamWorks Animation movies, I would've loved to see what its like if Megamind meet President Hathaway 😂
It's almost mind blowing how good it is. I don't mean just as an animated type film or the plot either but cinematically.
