Hi Chikako! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. I can easily relate to your experiences. I don't like to spend time on social media. I opened my first-ever Instagram account last year. I didn't even consider having an IG account before because I thought I would get overwhelmed and demotivated by exposing myself to too many artworks all at once. It did feel overwhelming initially, but I tried not to compare myself with other artists and encouraged myself to learn from others. It worked to some extent. I think the main issue for me is the pressure of sharing art daily or very often on social media. I love drawing. I'd draw and create artwork even if no one saw them. That is literally how I spent my life before having an IG account. I don't need social approval or likes to create art. Still, I'd love to have a supporting and creative community where I can share experiences, receive critiques, have functional conversations, and possibly collaborate. That'd be awesome! PS1: I also do get spammed by bots. I receive weird messages saying how amazing my art is and if I'm open to commissions, lol. :) PS2: You're doing great! :)
Oh, thank you for allowing me to share my experience with you. Congratulations on launching your account! I completely understand your feelings. Sometimes, the flood of artworks on Instagram can be overwhelming and make my brain freeze too. Personally, I find inspiration and collect references on Pinterest. Have you ever used it before? Unlike Instagram, where I often come across sponsored content and unrelated posts, I feel Pinterest is a more practical place to find inspiration and create mood boards. This is so funny when I read your comment, I was making new video talking about safe community to share your artwork haha. I've decided to make more video about it so that artists can inspire each other! Thank you for supporting this channel, as always^^
Oh thank you so much for finding my channel! I am happy to hear my video went to you! Please let me know if you have any subject that you want to know more^^ OMG, your animation is so cute and inspiring. I subscribed too! Let's keep going!
@@ogawachikako 💖 Thanks Chikako! I'm sorry I don't have anything in mind, but I will be continuing to support your videos and if I have any suggestions I will comment in the future 💐
I do get spammed by bots every time I post anything on Instagram, but you're right. Art is supposed to be fun. The key difference is that I am not trying to sell, and art is not my full time job, so I choose IG and FB as my playground. People may or may not like what I draw, it really doesn't matter, because what I wanted to draw, was already drawn :D And I just post them for friends who may be interested to see what I drew. If what I drew make them happy or sad or angry or even motivated or inspired, then awesome! That's just an added bonus in my book.
It's fantastic that you already understand your audience and purpose for using Instagram. I can also sense that you have a strong boundary when it comes to drawing things for yourself, which is very admirable! As you mentioned, art is meant to be enjoyable, and if it's a platform for sharing ideas, then that's certainly the way to use Instagram. If you're not interested in selling your art, it might be easier to separate yourself from those expectations. In the world of illustration, some people and agents suggest using Instagram as a strategy to showcase your artwork and tag potential buyers. I used to have expectations of landing a job through my account, which led to pressure when posting.
