When I was a little girl in the 80's, I had a japanese friend that did not speak English, and I don't speak Japanese, but she was my best friend, her mom would make this type of cheesecake all the time, and we would get in trouble for sneaking it and using it on her little miniature Sanrio tea set! One of my most fond memories!
This goes to show you that children do not need to speak the same language to be friends! I think about her often and wonder what she's doing today!

Interesting fact: there's no sillicone used in the creation of Parchment Paper/Baking Paper. The paper pulp is treated with sulfuric acid which makes the pulp turn into a sort of partial gel, which is then used to make the paper. That's what gives it the nonstick/nonsmoking abilities!

theres a trick for putting in parchment paper in pans like that, all you do is crumple it up and then you can fit it really easy into the edges and everything!

    • @pillipluppplupper1253
      @pillipluppplupper1253 2 роки тому +20

Yes! And you can also quickly soak it under the water tap and then squeeze out the excess water, that's even better. The moisture helps the paper to stick!

I've commented this many times but I've never seen it actually tried out. It keeps the paper from rolling up even on flat baking pans & also keeps it snugly into the folds in corners.

I have a recipe that has been in my family for about 3 generations. We call it pineapple upside-down cake but it's very different from traditional pineapple upside-down cake. You need one can of crushed pineapple, one can of cherry pie filling, one box of yellow cake mix and one stick of butter. Preheat the oven for the temperature on the back of the cake mix box. Using a 9x13 glass baking dish you dump the dry cake mix into the dish. Spread it out evenly as you break up any lumps. Then you cut the butter into about half tablespoon chunks and Spread them evenly over the dry cake mix. Next open the crushed pineapple. DO NOT DRAIN IT. You need the extra liquid to moisten your cake. Spoon the crushed pineapple over the cake and butter mixture as evenly as you can. Last, spoon the can of cherry pie filling over the mixture as evenly as you can. Bake for the time it says on the back of the cake mix box. Let it cool for about 10-15 minutes. It's best served warm and with whipped cream if you like. It sounds weird but it's delicious. I really hope you get a chance to make this. I think your kids will love it too. My daughter and I love watching your videos together. I love how positive you are.

I don't usually eat ice cream during the Winter. It's hot chocolate for me when it's cold.
So I haven't looked for it in my store's freezer section.
But with warmer weather, I've been thinking about ice cream more. I'll check to see if my store has rum raisin this Sunday on my regular shopping day. I live in the Atlanta area, and I think the brand that had rum raisin was the store brand of Kroger.
I'd hate for it to be discontinued. That flavor, fudge ripple, and ice cream sandwiches are just about the only frozen treats I eat.

How long did the toaster oven end up taking? And what temp did you use?

I used the toaster setting for ~5-7 minutes.

@@emmymade Did that involve any preheating, or just straight in from room temp for 5-7 mins?

Wow, I like this one!! The ingredients are quite few and are easy to find. Unfortunately, my microwave is currently broken :( I really like to try to make this because of the ease of its ingredients. Can I ask your opinion on how to bake this one? (Like the temperatue of the oven and the bake time)
Thank you for sharing this one!!

Ok but what is wax paper used for? I don't think I've ever done anything that used it but have gotten it confused with parchment many times over the years with disappointing results as a result.

To wrap up your lunch, it's also great to wrap up cheese - it stays fresh for longer.

Does the recipe specify whether it is necessary to use ice cream with an egg base or not as I would think that would make a difference? I also do not care for the taste of lemon in my cheesecake. Is there something else I could use to help thicken it?

Trains are really unpredictable. Even in the middle of a forest two rails can appear out of nowhere, and a 1.5-mile fully loaded coal drag, heading east out of the low-sulfur mines of the PRB, will be right on your ass the next moment.
I was doing laundry in my basement, and I tripped over a metal bar that wasn't there the moment before. I looked down: "Rail? WTF?" and then I saw concrete sleepers underneath and heard the rumbling. Deafening railroad horn. I dumped my wife's pants, unfolded, and dove behind the water heater. It was a double-stacked Z train, headed east towards the fast single track of the BNSF Emporia Sub (Flint Hills). Majestic as hell: 75 mph, 6 units, distributed power: 4 ES44DC's pulling, and 2 Dash-9's pushing, all in run 8. Whole house smelled like diesel for a couple of hours!
Fact is, there is no way to discern which path a train will take, so you really have to be watchful. If only there were some way of knowing the routes trains travel; maybe some sort of marks on the ground, like twin iron bars running along the paths trains take. You could look for trains when you encounter the iron bars on the ground, and avoid these sorts of collisions. But such a measure would be extremely expensive. And how would one enforce a rule keeping the trains on those paths? A big hole in homeland security is railway engineer screening and hijacking prevention.
There is nothing to stop a rogue engineer, or an ISIS terrorist, from driving a train into the Pentagon, the White House or the Statue of Liberty, and our government has done fuck-all to prevent it.

I'm totally fine with weighing ingredients for baking, but you can pry Fahrenheit out of my cold, dead hands! There are 80 % more data points between the freezing and boiling points of water. Baking is chemistry, and that kind of precision is important!
