4:00 - Chain of Rocks bridge. The reason there are lighthouses in the middle of the river is that before the canal (to the east) was built, there were in fact chains of rocks, and the towers marked the middle navigational channel of the river.

The shipping sug take the load on that day. Not the 18. That good you call your fleet mgt up. Discuss the issue. If day say come black the 18 to drop the load of. Day got to pay you extra for wait for two day like that.

Yes. Looking at it closely I realized it’s a very bad design. On the East bound rest stop the 4 wheelers don’t realize to turn right and zip right past 1/2 their parking places. Needs a redesign!!?
Dropping in the I270 Edwardsville/Pontoon Beach, IL area? Guard booth reminds me of Unilever. Hopefully Crete has a terminal near by so you can drop there and move on to the next load. Atlanta Bonded in Lithia Springs, GA is the same way. You have a 24Hr window. They will not accept a load outside of that window. No way, no how.
When I drove I hated when 4-wheelers would park in the truck parking like that. I used to literally throw them out! This is exactly why I did line-haul/relay driving when I used to drive. Terminal-to-terminal is a *lot* easier than terminal-to-customer. Plus I got back home every other morning/afternoon and got to sleep/eat in motels/hotels all the time. Drove regional so 99.9% of the time I was in a day cab.

Hey Folks, just thought everyone would be interested to know that the "two little light houses" in the Mississippi river, just south of the Chain of Rocks bridge, are actually intake towers for the St. Louis water company, built in 1915 and is still functioning. The treatment plant is to the west on the shore.
@@TheJoyofTrucking I drove for an LTL company with a terminal at Plainfield, Indiana, which is on the west side of Indianapolis, called XPO Logistics and ran down I-70 a few times a week and went across that bridge to the St. Louis terminal, which is down south on Riverview Dr. a few miles. When you folks get tired of messing with those shippers and have all that fun trying to find them, look into and LTL company where you can make a lot more money and run regular routes. I drove for XPO for 16 years and always had the weekends off and was home every night unless I ran night linehaul. I'm just making an educated guess but I think the top paying bid is paying $120,000 a year or more. I think though UPS always had the best pay.
Crete has a drop yard in East St. Louis about 12 miles from there. Worst case they will have you drop it there. They won’t have you wait three days. Don’t forget to start the detention clock - you will be paid for the delay.

Make sure they gave yall a detention form book they didn't give me any when I first started but I got some out of the Indianapolis terminal

This is what insurance is for.. ive had two produce loads refused due to minor potato sprouts when 99 percent of the load was fine. BOTH times they OFFERED to unload me and dispose of the potatoes.. for a fee of course.. i said fuck you politely and left the yard. I called up the nearest food bank and they eagerly accepted the loads. Never heard a thing about it from no one after it was all said and done.. i never took loads to those receivers again..
I only eat once and that is after getting everything done before sleep. I only eat in privacy as well. Eating before or in the middle of work pisses me off or makes me tired.

Oh the midnight to midnight delivery scheme. Never seen one that happens to work that way. Or ya end up with a long "live unload". Then theres the empty trailer hunt, if ya dropped it. Good luck however it ends.

Sir you both deserve better! OTR its to much hassle and you dont make money. Ship Ex Transportation is based pay salary of $1200 with new trucks, pets and free rides. And fridge and inverter included too. Also good benefits they pay 💯! Also they keep truck only up 2 years so you basically get a new truck every year with a color of your choice. Pay hometime cause its Salary not CPM. $1200 is not much but if your the driver don't really suffering on money then Ship Ex is a way to go. Im the pnly working support ing my family so Ship Ex is not for me, but if wifey works then id jump on that company! Also DEDICATED REGIONAL ROUTE is where im at to California to Colorado to edwardsville drop and hook and easy live load! Good good money! Crete is nice but there is better out there sir . Sorry that you didn’t have a good experience at Crete. We definitely don’t feel micromanaged. Yes…they tell you fuel stops, but there are ways of dealing with it. And in the end…if they save more money on fuel the annual bonuses are bigger. Hope you found a company you are happy with.

Tanya, thanks for sharing that you are GF. I am too. Kevin, great tip about adjusting your mirror while backing. Never occurred to me to adjust them so you can see more during a turn. Will start using that tip myself. Keep up the great videos.

Sir you both deserve better! OTR its to much hassle and you dont make money. Ship Ex Transportation is based pay salary of $1200 with new trucks, pets and free rides. And fridge and inverter included too. Also good benefits they pay 💯! Also they keep truck only up 2 years so you basically get a new truck every year with a color of your choice. Pay hometime cause its Salary not CPM. $1200 is not much but if your the driver don't really suffering on money then Ship Ex is a way to go. Im the pnly working support ing my family so Ship Ex is not for me, but if wifey works then id jump on that company! Also DEDICATED REGIONAL ROUTE is where im at to California to Colorado to edwardsville drop and hook and easy live load! Good good money! Crete is nice but there is better out there sir . Don't do Crete Carrier. You'll be sorry. I was. They micro manage drivers. They did me. I could make a long list of cons. The pros list is short. But to be fair there are some good.
Sorry that you didn’t have a good experience at Crete. We definitely don’t feel micromanaged. Yes…they tell you fuel stops, but there are ways of dealing with it. And in the end…if they save more money on fuel the annual bonuses are bigger. Hope you found a company you are happy with.
