Many rightfully protest dolphins military use but I would argue it is still far more humane than if put into a Seaworld like environment. Firstly they are often exposed to open swimming in a real marine environment (and microbiome). They are intelligent enough to possibly comprehend their specific tasks as a challenge and not for show. They would not be subject to the excessive noise and badgering involved with entertainment spectacles. Heard that at least in the US, they are periodically allowed to leave during a period to mate and most return.

These dolphins are not just ur typical bottle nosed dolphins, these are yankee bottle nosed dolphins, that means they are elite, these things will take down killer whales and great whites on the way to the mines, they are as tough as nails, believe me they dont mind their job at all, tracking down communist mines

The funny thing is that dozens of Western media shouted at the Russians when they noticed a beluga with instruments on its back in the Atlantic. Everyone shouted that it was a spy beluga, when in fact the Russians installed it for the sake of tracking the population and habitat. When the US Navy uses dolphins for publicly known purposes, everyone prefers to plug their ears and not notice. Double standarts.

Why do you say "rightly"? You're asserting an opinion as a real fact. From what I've seen, a lot of protestors are really knowledgeable on what they think the problem is, and really ignorant about the actual process.

I would argue that we shouldn't put dolphins in either situation. We could try to stop all forms of animal cruelty instead of rating them. The only argument for using dolphins for military tasks (like mine retrieval) is cost. It's cheaper to train dolphins than use autonomous underwater vehicles.
