    If I'm not mistaken the panel requires 176 staples per un-cut sheet... that seems like a lot - but if it stays flat, eliminates creaking and assures dead-step underfoot sound, I'll do it. Having said that I'm laying it over Durock that has been scrapped of thinset and putting a 3mm sound deadening pad under it to flatten the floor as much as possible then 3mm pad on top/under a 3/8" engineered bamboo click plank to do all I can for best possible moisture blocking and to get an extra durable resilient walking surface. And as an extra measure of overkill, am keeping my fingers crossed. 🤗

    If you find cutback adhesive on the subfloor, cover it first with plastic. Otherwise there will be a tacky sound as you walk across the new underlayment.

    Is it just me or at 1:56 does he not say make sure the underlay seams do not match up with the panel seams, then 5 seconds later he staples down the underlay directly over the panel seams??

    what if you don't know how thick the sub floor is? I don't want to tear it up to find out what size staples to get.

      If you have forced air heating, lift out a floor vent and then pry one side of the duct far enough inward to slip a tape measure down beside it, hook the tape on the bottom edge of the subfloor and read the mark on the top edge of the subfloor.

    Why so many staples ......I don't think it would move under the flooring

    why dont you use construction adhesive between sureply and subfloor?

    • @alexanderx3554
      @alexanderx3554 4 роки тому +3

      It should be staples or nailed not glued down because the glue will not hold the underlayment properly.

  • @JasonThomas-bv2yw
    @JasonThomas-bv2yw 7 років тому +10

    That's a lot of nails. I think about 1/2 of that is necessary.

    What about concrete subfloor? It can't be glued?

    • @brly4542
      @brly4542 3 роки тому

      Don't use wood on concrete, put floor directly on the concrete if it is flat and dry. Otherwise you need a plastic subfloor/moisture barrier

    What does 2 inches on center mean?

    • @jjs777fzr
      @jjs777fzr 9 років тому

      Nathan Richmond Every 2 inches - they want you to drive a fastener into the panel. They call for this at the edges - but for the remainder - just use fasteners at the 'X' marks preprinted on the panel. Yes- this means a lot of fasteners or staples being used.

    Why are the staples coming up through the vinyl?

    • @OGStr8UpJack
      @OGStr8UpJack 9 років тому +2

      Monte Mraz because they were not driven perfectly flush or just barely countersunk with the subfloor but instead left sticking up, proud of the underlayment surface.

    Why should the customer inspect your panels? If they're not up to par then don't sell them to people. How ridiculous is it for you to expect us to inspect them carry them all the way back to the lumberyard if they're bad and start over. I will never buy this product

    I am working on a 40 year old house. The old staples are 6" apart. To rid the foor of squeaks and groans and whispers, I am needing to staple every 2-3". So - dont skimp - do it right. Granted staples have improved but 6" apart is too far. The old underlayment is otherwise in great shape and none of the old staples are popping up.

    Why is this needed? Why not lay flooring directly to subfloor? That subfloor looks perfectly new.

    • @LisaCunninghamLieveEnterprises
      @LisaCunninghamLieveEnterprises 5 років тому

      We directly use Allure on sub-floor, especially if it looks like this floor before he laid the underlayment/sureply on top. I can see this very useful for vinyl squares. We do this in our mobile homes we rehab due to using vinyl rolls or squares
