I'm hoping this catches the attention of old school rock/metal fans, Scorpions are a classic mainstay of prog-rock early metal. I'm absolutely trying to introduce you guys to metal music while avoiding the shock value, more extreme stuff until later on. Give it awhile you'll be in the moshpit in no time. Thanks guys.
In my opinión this one of their best songs of their early days bringing a different style what later became Heavy Metal 🎸, definitely a gem. Many people never heard this song , when they heard it for a first time really blows their minds . Thanks for the review .
Excellent band! Over 100 million albums sold! I really like the 70's lineup, the entire "Fly to the Rainbow" album is fire. They actually have a wide range of songs. I think you'll appreciate Fly to the Rainbow, Far Away, In Your Park, Living & Dying, The Zoo. So many more. 80's had some heavy hits with No One Like You, and Still Loving You. If you want to see some great lyrics, listen to China White and get the version with lyrics. Just an awesome band!!!!! PLEASE listen to more of the Scorpions, they started in 1965 and I just saw them in concert in 2022, that says a lot...
Wow, some real old school Scorpions back in the 70s when Uli John Roth was still lead guitarist. That era lead to some pretty heavy and at times experimental stuff, riding the wave the twin guitars (Rudolf Schenker, brother of guitar phenom Michael Schenker is an original member on 2nd guitar) created. They replaced Roth for the classic Love Drive with Michael back for 3 tunes, he along with new guitarist Matias Jabs produced fire, that whole album signaled a new direction and a sound that soon became huge on FM radio. Some of their videos have 100s of millions of views, they are that good and that big. Try the title track from Lovedrive, you won't be disappointed. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
Scorpions have had such a long and varied career as a band. Their often thought of as an 80s band because most of their well know hits were glam anthems and powdr ballads from the 80s, but they actually began in 1965. Their second guitarist Uli Jon Roth, featured on this track, is widely considered within the guitar community to be a master and pioneer of neoclassical alongside Randy Roads and Richie Blackmoore. The first 15 years or so of their career featured songs with a lot of psychedelic and progressive influences. Uli Jon Roth specifically had a lot of influence on later "shred" guitar players, and thanks to him and singer Klaus Meine's darker lyrical content during the 70s, this era of Scorpions are often cited as being proto-metal. They definitely helped lay the groundwork for what a lot of European metal would sound like in the future. By 79 they would find a lot of commercial success and with the departure of Roth, they adopted a more glam style of hard rock, which defined the band for decades to come. Uli remains an icon in heavy metal circles. To make a comparison, just as Rakin is often referred to as your favorite rapper's favortie rapper, Uli is known as your favorite guitarist's favorite guitarist
Charon is the one who crosses the river Styx which flows in hell, to the souls of those who have just died , the voice of Klaus Meine Reminds me of Brian Johnson's voice from AC/DC, you're really good!
Because most people remember 80's Scorpion when they became Arena rock. Their first album was in 74 I believe, and through the 70's they were more proto-metal/proggy until their original guitarist/song-writer decided to leave and pursue a solo career that more-or-less failed utterly.
Gents, you have opened yourself a can-o-worms on this one. The Scorpions may be one of the best "unknown" artists to non-rock/metal music-heads. Their journey (which is still going strong) has had quite the turns and twists. Vic posted below the Love Drive album... that was my first exposure to them and I was hooked. I highly recommend that album. Lastly, since you're on this road, you'll need to dabble with UFO. Michael Schenker was in that group along with the Scorpions, and multiple solo efforts (MSG - Michael Schenker Group). If you want a cool UFO tune I highly recommend: Mystery Train (live version or studio) you'll love it!
WOW. Now here's a selection I didn't expect. What a guitar solo at the beginning. I wore this cassette out. This is a tune they didn't play on the radio very often...if ever. It wasn't one of their big radio hits....great tune though.
The song on the record right after this "YOUR LIGHT" is even better!!! Please try some UFO next if you can, they are even cooler! Michael Schenker ( also German) was originally part of Scorpions left and joined UFO in 74 or there about's. "Shoot Shoot" or "THIS KIDS/in between the walls" are incredible tracks from them if you wanna give them a try! Thx, love the channel guys...!!
So glad that this was your introduction to the Scorpions. I came late to them (relatively) and hadn't heard "older" Scorps. But 5 months in on an '89-'90 Med Cruise I found my music collection a little stale. Lucky in Port Alexandra they have a place that sells EVERYTHING. Including a couple of cassette tapes, Fly to the Rainbow and Virgin Killer. Totally bootlegged, but playable. I hadn't known what I'd missed. By the way, I still have the cassettes. Enjoying your channel.
Will burn the sky was written by Monika daninmann. Jimi Hendrix last girlfriend for jimmy. Uli jon roth lived with Monika when she wrote the song and gave to uli to record it with the scorpion's
This is an early neoclassical metal, almost Goth like, but its Greek mythology influenced, also Spanish flamenco. Charon is the boat captain to Hades, not someone you'd want to meet, so yes, very halloweenish.
The early stuff, before they went full-on commercial. This shit is awesome. Their commercial stuff is lotsa fun, but this stuff is feckin' awesome. Protometal. Love the Scorps, even their infamous ballads.
Alice In Chains is def worth your while Frogs (album) Sludge factory (album) God am, Bleed the freak, Phantom limb, Hollow they’re kinda like SD every song is a masterpiece
Not really Black Sabbath did not start Metal, Scorpions are from Germany and started in 1968. This song and the album came out in 1977 and is heavy metal.
Early Metal, yes. The fact you started with this and not their 80's era metal is awesome!!!
Uli Jon Roth, what a guitar player. One of my favorite guitarists, that’s for sure. His melodic inventiveness is something to behold.
I'm a big Ulrich Roth fan from back in the early 80s, most underrated guitarist ever. His play is bigger than life
He wasn't with them in the 80s

Ulrich Roth is such an underrated guitar player.
Great reaction!
What a pleasant surprise to see you react to some classic, old school Scorpions! 🦂
Thanks for choosing this!

Love sails of charon and early scorpions!
Deep purple- child in time . Y'all will dig it
Love the Scorps, but this must be ancient. Never heard it before. Great stuff.

Great pick Mr. Dirty. Give em more Scorpions.
You can never go wrong with 70's Scorpions or a request from Mr Dirty.....👍
Give the song "Your Light" a try.
This is what 70's heavy metal was like.
Another late 70's legendary heavy metal band to checkout is
JUDAS PRIEST🤟
victim of changes is a good opener 💪😎
As much as i like 80s Scorpions they never got as cool as again after Uli left, he was such scary good player.
WOW. Now here's a selection I didn't expect. What a guitar solo at the beginning. I wore this cassette out. This is a tune they didn't play on the radio very often...if ever. It wasn't one of their big radio hits....great tune though.
Dope song!
Uli is killing it
This is some Dio-adjacent sound. Awesome and fun
"Send Me an Angel", "Still loving you", "The Zoo" and of course "The Wind Of Change"...!
Appreciate yall letting it play while giving feedback . Good vid earned a sub from me
Metal, hard rock, whatever you want to call it, it just rocks out. I prefer older Scorpions tracks like this before they got too “radio friendly”

I would really like to see your reaction to Grand Funk Railroad, Inside Looking Out 1969🔥😉
We'll Burn The Sky live 2006 with Uli on the sky guitar.
The guitar work on the Lovedrive album is fire.
Will burn the sky was written by Monika daninmann. Jimi Hendrix last girlfriend for jimmy. Uli jon roth lived with Monika when she wrote the song and gave to uli to record it with the scorpion's

Nice. Great song. This is pretty early so Heavy Metal was still kind of getting defined. It helped set up what was to come.
Please do Deep Purple child in time live 1970
progressive rock
yummy ! Hey if you want to hear them doing a reggae rock song listen to Is Anybody There ?
Great song off of Lovedrive, that whole album is fire!
In trance too
Not really Black Sabbath did not start Metal, Scorpions are from Germany and started in 1968. This song and the album came out in 1977 and is heavy metal.
UFO - Rock Bottom
Please do Black Sabbath - Heaven & Hell.
Hey I see Bob on the wall. You guys should check out the tribute to him by Miyagi "Trenchtown".
Nice reaction 🔥
Please listen to UFO and Michael Schenker...You're welcome 🙂
For early proto-metal try Napoleon Bonaparte 1&2 by Budgie
Check out there song “ The Zoo “ - it’s legit
Creeping Death or The thing that should not be would b a good intro to Metallica / metal
These guys are German
It’s just hard rock, in my book…..or, you MIGHT even call it metal…but I wouldn’t call it “heavy” metal.
Probably not the best song to experience the Scorpions for the 1st time.
Why not? This is more worthy than radio friendly Scorpioms.
