    I definitely will be trying this! One of my favorite meals is pot roast. I do it similar, but not totally like that!!! I have never heard of Ghee or clarified butter before! Talk about food in the south, years ago, my husband and I were driving my stepdaughter's car from Orlando to Portland, Oregon. We stopped in Nashville and ate at a small buffet place. We had the best meal there...not like what you get up here! I will always remember that meal, it was SO good! Most of my daughter's family is vegetarian, but not me!!! The whole Bates family are my favorite, but I almost have to say your stuff is my favorite, although I do love BSB also!!! ❤❤❤❤

    I haven't made a roast in a long time, too expensive anymore lol. Growing up, we ate roast at least once a month lol. I have never thought to sear the meat before putting it in the crockpot. I usually use russet potatoes because that's usually what I have on hand. I have always heard you put the longer cooking vegetables at the bottom of the crockpot, never thought to try it differently. Anyway, I have always done it with potatoes, sliced carrots, and sliced onions at the bottom of the crock pot, then put the meat that I seasoned with salt and pepper on top. Add water, never paid attention to how much I had but I know it was a lot and then add a beef bouillon cube. I set it on low and let it slow cook all day. Sometimes I might make some homemade rolls to go with it or pick up the Kings Hawaiian Rolls to serve with it. Now my mouth is watering for a roast, I'm going to have to make one and try it your way next time I make one, sounds so good.

    One of my favourite winter meals is pot roast but I’ve never cooked the outside before! This looks amazing so I’ll try it next time. Is there a difference between using regular butter vs gee? This is such a better recipe than what I’ve done! Ijust throw everything in with just a bay leaf.,.lm looking forward to this method next time!

      I generally use my bbq braised beef with Cole slaw! The flavor profile just seems to fit better! It’s a few videos back, but I did it in the oven! It works in a crock pot as well though!

    Thanks Zach. Great idea for tomorrow’s Sunday dinner. I dread cooking dinner on these extremely hot Alabama days. I don’t have air conditioning so that makes it worse. Cooking in a crockpot contains most of the heat. Pot Roast is usually a cold weather comfort meal but I miss it during the summer months. It’s only supposed to be 85 tomorrow so it looks like we’re gonna have a good old fashioned Sunday dinner tomorrow after church. Maybe tonight after it cools off I’ll make a peach and a blueberry pie. Thanks again. Oh, do y’all have any ideas for a bone in or boneless pork roast? Again, thanks. Godspeed 🫶🏻

As you are looking in your rear view mirror knowing what’s coming!!!!! You are so rotten!! Lol lol lol!!!!! It was sooo good !!!! Poor Kelly Jo! But she got out of the car smiling, a little lol!!! But commented on the red couch ….”too bad your are too old to get a whipping”!!!! Hahaha!!! I just had to comment on that!!! I love your family!!!

    Great video and format. Does Evan do your videos for you? I follow their videos as well, and I know they've commented about your great cooking. Look forward to seeing more potential dishes to try out. I'm sure its just for the video and everyones commented about not locking the lid already but it is true. I did this years ago with the first one i had with that type of lid and ruined an entire dinner with glass all over.

    Please do not lock the latches on your crockpot while cooking…. This can be very dangerous. Those are only to be used for transporting a crockpot. "Locking those latches during cooking might build up pressure and might cause the lid to shatter or even cause the Stoneware to break," Imelda explains. While the latches on the Crockpot look a bit like a pressure cooker, it's not intended for that use at all.

      Most crockpot lids have a hole in the lid for the release of steam or pressure. There is no danger in locking the lid down.

    Just curious I may be wrong. Aren’t you contaminating your salt and pepper by sticking your fingers in the containers while they are covered in meat juices?

    • @Thebateskitchen
      @Thebateskitchen  27 днів тому +1

      Yes! That’s why I dump out any excess and wash my salt and pepper wells. It’s just a lot easier for me that way.

    I do the potatoes in a pan on the stove and mash them, then make gravy and smother the taters and roast with gravy.

    • @Thebateskitchen
      @Thebateskitchen  Місяць тому +2

      Ain’t nothing wrong with that! A lot of times we get some Idaho taters and make mashed potatoes to go with it as well. Reduce the liquids and add a little cornstarch slurry for some gravy and you better watch out!
