I saw you play the heck out of that thing. Maybe you could do a more in-depth review video, Brad. Maybe see how it sounds on different amps and music styles and such. Love that guitar and I'm not a tele guy.

You, sir are a master! Already saw Brad's vid and had to come see this. Making guitars in your jammies in your garage with snow outside and the doors wide open. I bow to you, and seriously what a great guitar. Truly impressive!
Great Job man! I watched Brad's box opening of this guitar a few days ago so, I was excited to seen this video pop up in the suggested video list yesterday.
Like many others I saw the unboxing video on Brad's channel first. When Brad said he received a guitar from Derek at BigD Guitars you couldn't have dragged me away from my laptop. I've been subscribed to both your channels for 2-3 years. When Brad pulled it out of the box and played it unplugged it sounded great and when he played it plugged in I was astounded. What a great-sounding guitar. The humbucker at the neck and the single-coil on the bridge gives it a unique tonal quality. It's like a Tele on mega steroids. As always, your attention to detail is something I will emulated when I start building guitars. Great work, Derek.
Hi there! Came by way of Brad's channel... wow! What a beautiful guitar. This was really awesome to see you build it step by step and give so many great building tips at the same time too. You've got a new subscriber.
this looks awesome,it really turned out great.i was finally able to get a guitar,i bought a 2019 epiphone les paul standard plus top pro.i got a boss katana 50 to go with it,so im beginning my guitar playing journey.when we move from our current location i will take up building again.
I must say you've got great building skills,Brad said to come over and checkout your channel. And after seeing you build his guitar, you've got another sub.The whiskey barrel makes good sense for seasoned wood and conservation.Good stuff buddy.Keep up the great work ,I'll be watchin.🎸👍😎
Great Craftsmanship and ideas. Heard it played by Brad, so had to come and see it built … Happily subscribed now, along with other Luthier channels. Stay safe (from the UK).
Scraping the char might give an interesting look to the wood. Id be interested in seeing that. And instead or painting the logo, maybe use a wood burner to give it a "branded in" look.
Cant remember the name of the Italian company that makes some really nice relic guitars, but this guitar rivals them easily. You are not just a builder D you are a true artist!
Beautiful work Derek! If I was to have one made, it would be a Jameson's barrel, with barn wood from Georgia on the back. But after seeing the intense work that goes into one of these, I'm sure it's out of my price range. Love the weight relief design, and it sounds fantastic. A masterclass to be sure. Stay safe.
Amazing craftsmanship brother...I would love to be able to buy a leftie off of you in a similar style!? I'm definitely going to have to get in touch with you about this...🙏👍👊
This is just cool! Plus I'm always a sucker for Tele style guitars. Also funny enough my name is Derek and my classmates in middle school called me "Big D" (I wasn't very big.. haha). You have such a nice small garage shop but make such great quality builds!
Congrats on the 40 watt Weller, it's brilliant! I use both the 25 and the 40 watt, but the 40 watt gets used the most, the flow is just so much better :-) You just have to have quick hands ;-)
Top job! I just watched the Guitologist video as Brad received it, opened and plays it both unplugged and plugged in...WHOA JACK! As i commented to him, 'That's the most 'twanginist' bourbon Tele!'; by the way, what's the D.C. resistance of the pickups?
Did you sand the top at all? I did not see this step. If so how did you keep the patina? Was it just a light sanding only? Also how did you cleanup the inlay paint that went over the line? I'm planning on attempting this myself. Normally I sand after painting or filling lnlays, but don't want to mess up the patina of the wood. Thanks
Didn't you have a video on building the first Jack Daniels guitar? I can't find it for some reason. Agree about GraphTech, those guys are the best with excellent products.
This is just beautiful! Amazing craftsmanship, you don’t find this quality in any guitar manufacturer, stunning! Ps: where did you get the idea to use an oak barrel?
Great vid! Great guitar. Try rubbing the screws across a paraffin (not beeswax) candle before driving home. Also look up the T100 soldering iron on dear ol' epay.
This thing is KILLER! Thank you, good sir. I love it.
I saw you play the heck out of that thing. Maybe you could do a more in-depth review video, Brad. Maybe see how it sounds on different amps and music styles and such. Love that guitar and I'm not a tele guy.
I really like the "Spank" and "Crisp" tone of oak....sounds Wild
Amazing guitar!
Wood doesn’t have a sound, darlings.......it’s the pickups that spank....have be got to go thru all that again!! Surely not...😱

Awesome
I have to buy one of these
To use one of your colonial phrases "you keep knocking them out of the park!"
Love your work dude, hope you and your family are well thanks 👍
I love it. Looks great. Could do with a BIG-D logo/decal though, I think.
sometimes I do sometimes I don't. depends hahaha
I love it, although I would want a Seymour Duncan Phatcat pickup in the neck position!
I love the whiskey guitars.
Congrats on the 40 watt Weller, it's brilliant! I use both the 25 and the 40 watt, but the 40 watt gets used the most, the flow is just so much better :-) You just have to have quick hands ;-)
Congrats on a Very Unique guitar build.!! I wonder how it would sound without the chambers?? Nice and heavy and better sustain???
What are the most common router bits for guitar making?

I really like that heavy and ringy tone, but I'm not sure whether I want to play it or drink it 😉
Just watched Brad play the stank out of this thing! Solid bit O’ work there, brother.
thanks!

Ps: where did you get the idea to use an oak barrel?
I lived in Nashville in 2015 and went a few shows where guys had repurposed barrels for bars etc.... I new a guitar was the next step for me.
Still waiting for a relic job
Hey man, Brad sent me. That is a very nice looking guitar.
thank you
Hi, hope you are well, awesome guitar, love to have one of your guitars, hopefully one day, God Bless you. take care.
Great vid! Great guitar. Try rubbing the screws across a paraffin (not beeswax) candle before driving home. Also look up the T100 soldering iron on dear ol' epay.
Could you design a flask into one of those weight relief pockets?
Wow nice!
I'm from Fiji😊
You do you have make the necks?
These guitars r great but I can’t help wondering what one of your patented Angelus leather dye fade jobs would look like one too...🤔
Looks great, man! Whats about Gibson restoration?
still working on it. a few other projects I have
Have you tried scraping the screws across some beeswax prior to their installation?
WOW what a great idea and fantastic talent. yes I subbed lol
I want one 😍
Great work! No truss rods?
they are real necks with rods. I built them in another process
What kind of router bit?
How much to get one of these?
