Hello I have a question. I'm an American from Puerto Rico but studied at the Dominican Republic an I'm interested in doing a Pathology residency in the US. I've been working as a pathologist assistant in Puerto Rico for around three and a half years and at a fine needle aspiration Center for around a year. My letters of recommendation consist of a hospital director and director of the hospital's Pathology Department ,a Pathology Lab owner with whom I worked with and possibly the director of the Forensic Science Institute of Puerto Rico after I do an observership there. None of them are us physicians but all of them are head of their respective departments. Will my letters of recommendation be enough to apply to the residency?
If I'm an IMG who has graduated say 7 years ago, what should I do to overcome this problem in my application for residency. Please suggest.
