  • I replaced the 50uf 6 volt electrolytic capacitor in my Hickok 6000A vacuum tube tester.
    Wish me luck, I'm going to plug it into my isolation transformer, variac set up.
    I don't currently have a dim bulb circuit built so we'll just have to see what happens.
    I just checked and the #81 fuse lamp is open. The bias lamp is fine.
    I just ordered a couple of each lamp, we'll see what happens when I get the replacement #81 lamp.

    The white powder on the pots is corrosion.

      Eep, that's not good. I'll have to open the tube tester again to do the calibration work, I'll see about removing the corrosion then.

      @@JamesADoty This type of corrosion is probably due to the current flow, but I don't know if this can be an issue.

      Thanks, turned out I'd come down with a cold. The #81 lamp should arrive today. If it does I'll post an update video. Lets hope the tube tester works this time.
