National NC-100XA Receiver After Restoration

- I recently completed restoration work on this NC-100XA receiver for a friend. The set has been recapped with new capacitors installed in reproduction Cornel=-Dubilier capacitor shells, and fourteen out of tolerance resistors have been replaced with new resistors in shells/sleeves that closely resemble the original parts. Parts of the wiring has been replaced, two replacement tube sockets installed, tubes tested, chassis cleaned, plus several sundry mechanical repairs made, eg. to the coilbox contacts, and other adjustments/relubrication. The cabinet has also been cleaned and some minor touch-up work undertaken on the paint finish. Following this, the set was realigned and is now working well. I consider this to be a 'sympathetic restoration', ie. with the goal of restoring the radio's cosmetics, externally and internally (including under the chassis) so it looks like a well looked after 87 year old set that works much as it did when new, externally and internally, but retaining some patina. For such a sympathetic restoration, some minor cosmetic imperfections are acceptable
Still keeping busy I see. Love your work. The S40A still working just fine.
Thanks Richard!
Piękne radia ma Pan na warsztacie. Gratuluje wiedzy. Pozdrawiam
Yes, I have been very lucky with what comes into the 'shop! Its good to share these journeys with folks - hopefully assisting others to save more pieces of classic electronic engineering!
1938 radio and still working .
...albeit with a little help - and I am a 1955 man that stopped working in 2017(!)
