    Great video. Learned a lot. I just got home from buying the Abu Garcia Catfish Pro 6500 reel from Scheels. I have the Whisker Seeker Chad Ferguson edition rod that I am going to use it on. I didn't know anything about how to use this reel until I just watched your video. Maybe I will see you at the lake sometime! I'll have a video out soon!

      Appreciate it, Jars. The new catfish pros are sweet. That new black paint scheme with the catfish logo looks great on a WS rod. I got my orange catfish specials on the tail end before the new ones were released. Same reels, just a new look. Either way. They are great reels and teamed up with the FMJ you can’t beat it!
      Hope to see you out there sometime! If you’d like support the channel further, check out the store!

    Hello Jake, I have the 9'6 MH FMJ casting version and the 7'6 MH FMJ casting too. May be looking into the H FMJ, but was afraid it would be like a broom stick. Thanks for the video.

      Definitely not a broomstick. I wish I would’ve just got the heavys in the first place

      Yea the heavy is great and is what I like for big fish. Medium heavy is still good for all around use and I've yanked plenty of 30+ lb. cats out of some nasty brush piles. The heavy power rod just makes it much more controllable when you get a big one.

    Backlashes happens to me replacing new string. so what I do is put new string on and walk the string out to the end and reel it in 2 times. Then cast it out to see if it back lashes. Most of the time its good.

    Will an Abu 7000 fit on a 9'6" Whisker Seeker?

    • @jigginwithjake2796
      @jigginwithjake2796  Рік тому

      Yes. A 7000 would fit great as well. But, check out Ancient Mariner Reels. Their 6000 reels are the same size as the Abu 7000 and they are much more affordable. Here’s a link www.ancientmarinerfishing.com/product/ancient-mariner-6000-right-hand-free-shipping/

    Ive got the same rod with a C3 7000 catfish special on mine, the reel is a bit of overkill but its my river tank. 30# high abrasion mono and the cats stand no chance. :)

    For better distance and performance put a little water on you line first...wet line casts better than dry line

      Steve Hare I’ve since spooled these with 65# braid. They cast like a dream! Should’ve made the upgrade years ago! Thanks for watching! Hope you consider subscribing!

    Why do people always act like a baitcaster is hard to use lol guess I learned at a younger age just didn’t seem like a big deal

    • @jigginwithjake2796
      @jigginwithjake2796  4 роки тому +1

      I had learned at a young age as well. However, I was taught using my Uncles reels. I personally never made the change until this purchase. I’ve been using them regularly and it’s just like riding a bike. But, you’re right, baitcasters do have a bad rep at being difficult. In my opinion, if you’ve got a bit of common sense and a fair amount of concept, you can get use to them quickly!
      Thank for watching!
