That thing is gonna be quick! I put in a lot of work into the engine on my 1980 124 but never wanted to push past 110mph. I’m excited to see where this takes you, great job!
What is your estimated time of completion for the car? Looks like a great project, car shoukd really being that light and with the K ENGINE. Nice Job so far !
@@5589daniel I had planned to finish by August however a couple life challenges slowed it down so now realistically sometime in September or October. Thank you! Hoping to get some time next week to finish a couple things and create a couple videos along the way.
Nice work so far. Do you have to change out springs and such or is the weight of the swap motor and trans similar to the original motor and transmission?
Transmission almost exactly the same, Miata 5 speed about 4 more lbs. I don’t know the engines weight but good that you asked 😇 - can confirm the k20 as it’s out at the moment. Will have to research the Fiat engines weight
So I weighed my complete k20z1 and it’s right at 280 lbs. I don’t have the original engine but research tells me it should be around 300 lbs. some posts out there say 330 at most. So interestingly it’s a weight savings. Good to know and will help me source the proper springs and struts. Thanks @wallacemeoski2440 for asking.
@@fiatmonkey4012 Good to know. I have akinn 81 I did a resto mod with. Fiberglass dash I copied from a classic Ferrari. Been thinking about a swap myself. No surprise your motor is lighter than the original considering. With that kind of difference you could really go with stock or any number of available springs and such. I will have to keep your work in mind when the time comes. Keep up the attention to detail, it will make all the difference and you will have a very enjoyable unique ride in the end! I am looking forward to your finished product.
I was actually trying both wheels to see which looked better. The silver CD 66 are more traditional looking I agree while the darker Abarth more aggressive but look better on a more sportier, rally style 124.

@@wallacemeoski2440 much appreciated.
I noticed that the wheels changed from black 4-spoke to silver 6-spoke. Is that just to look more traditional?

Neither of the wheels are original and both are replicas 15” x 7”
How's the K Swap project going?
