Stiff LIttle Fingers are one of the best groups ever, with great lyrics and great music. I also love early Clash and Ebba Grön (a Swedish punk band).

    • @michelemichele7178
      @michelemichele7178 Рік тому

"early" Clash are one of the most truly seminal not only punk bands but just bands. 💥💥💥💥 These guys, well I suppose I should say Joe in particular of course but, THEY TOOK IN ALL THE HORRORS OF THE WORLD WITH EYES AS WELL AS HEARTS WIDE OPEN! NEVER FLINCHING NEVER FAILING TO TELL THE TRUTH! I could wax on poetic or cry my eyes out just thinking of it..... They're like ombudsman of the world for All mankind. (More like a priest truly but that's my perspective 🤫)
EYES, HEARTS, MINDS, ALL WERE WIDE OPEN! 🥺 THE COURAGE AND STRENGTH REQUIRED FOR SUCH A FEAT IS TRULY HEROIC!
The fact that they were able to make a shake our asses while telling us the hardest truth, well it just doesn't get any better greater or higher than that.
"SOMEBODY GOT MURDERED" "STRAIGHT TO HELL BOY" and even less obviously poignant songs like "Clampdown", and, YES "ALL LOST IN THE SUPERMARKET" ( ( "I wasn't born so much as I fell out no one really seemed to notice me / we had a hedge back home in the suburbs over which I never could see"🥺💔)
You know it is said that an artist's job is to hold a mirror up to society.... To life to mankind... I think the power that they did this with to hold this mirror up to all of mankind and to all of society but at the same time to an individual who is hearing a stranger speak the truest and deepest words from their own heart; well again it just doesn't get better than that! On its way I would consider them as I say true priests here on Earth. I mean as a priest would have the duty of speaking the highest truth and truly reconnecting one to what one considers God which of course is always deeply a part of oneself...... A part of all of life.
I've probably already written too much and I'm sure nobody's even going to read it but, art is important and then if it more so than music. 💯💥💥💥🙏🏽
P.S.- "somebody got murdered" was the first class song I ever heard without knowing it, and I was completely haunted by it for years and years. 🥺💔 Still am and always will be, as I think anyone should.
If anyone's reading this, please don't let this world harden your heart! It is heartbreaking, but let it break your heart open! That's how we will heal each other and the world I promise you! 🙏🏽Namaste

If the band didn't blow the roof off (Superb show), the Cunt would of been thrown off the Tyne Bridge. Whats worse, selling out and doing country life butter adverts or being a boring Bastard?

I find Greenday was a gateway band who brung the younger people to look back and find the stiff little fingers and all the other Original UK Punk rock bands of the late 70's early 80's from their lifting of some song formations and licks you do hear in early Green day albums before they went to a larger label. My sister knew them from the shop she's worked in here in san francisco and i knew them breifly...

He joined up to get a job and show he wasn't scared
Swapped boy scout hat for army cap
    He thought he'd be prepared
At the age of seventeen, he was forced to choose
At the age of twenty-one, he's in Catch-22, all right!
He joined up for just three years, it seemed a small amount
But they didn't tell him that
    The first two didn't count
At the age of seventeen how was he to know
That at the age of twenty-one he'd still have one to go?
    Tin soldier
    He signed away his name
    Tin soldier
No chance for cash or fame
    Tin soldier
    Now he knows the truth
    Tin soldier
    He signed away his youth
He joined up 'cause Dad knew best to do right by his son
And now he hates and counts the dates
That mark time on square one
At the age of seventeen he did as he was told
Now at the age of twenty-one tin still won't turn to gold
    Tin soldier
    He signed away his name
    Tin soldier
No chance for cash or fame
    Tin soldier
    Now he knows the truth
    Tin soldier
    He signed away his youth
If at the age of seventeen you fall in line too soon
Then at the age of twenty-one you'll still march to their tune
    Hup, two, three, four
    Hup, two, three, four
    Hup, two, three, four
    Hup, two, three, four
Tin soldiers, you signed away your name
Tin soldiers, no chance for cash or fame
Tin soldiers, now you know the truth
Tin soldiers, you sign away your youth
Tin soldiers, you go and join the queue
Tin soldiers, do what they want you to
Tin soldiers, they take away your name
Tin soldiers, they treat you all the same
    Sign away your life
    Sign away your life
