No. I am the meta. Joke aside. I still take the dorn people overly focus on it. Bullet sponge and I still have 4 other leman russ variants in my list with a chimera or 2.

I'm so jealous of the guard.
They may not be the most competitive but they're the most balanced army I swear. And incredibly cheap to field on points.
I play Necrons and I love Necrons to death but their internal balance is a total joke this edition. There are so many units like the annihilation barge, the catacomb command barge, Triarch Praetorians, Triarch stalkers, Skorpekh Destroyers to an extent, Overlords, Necron Warriors... They're all so overcosted and bad.
It feels like we only have access to 35% of our units when list building for winning a game. Not even mentioning how much of a crutch the Hypercrypt Detachment is. It's just like in 9th when we had to lean on Obsec-All to win anything.
Hmm Guard are very competitive at the moment I assure you.
T3 bodies are the way
Welp, I've got my missile launchers and plasma cannons ready in case we lean towards skews in either direction. BRING IT ON!!!
I've been using what I call the trident spearhead. 1 hellhound, 1 vanquisher, 1 exterminator, and 20 kreig. Take that x3, and have a solar/ cs blob with triple mortar. None of my WAAC friends have been able to subdue it.
So, just wandering, has anyone thought about bringing 3 death strikes to a tournament? Also I just noticed that, for some reason, the base BS for a deathstrike hunter killer missile is 3+. So 2+ Hunter-killer to use after they shred a large section of the enemies army with plasma warheads?

Auspec Tactics just made a video about how horde armies can kind of game the Secondaries meant to counter them.
For example, a full unit of 18 Infantry Squad with heavy weapons is worth only 5 victory points and could take an inordinate amount of firepower if you have a DK Marshall with them and they're in cover with the take cover order.
With enough pure infantry guard you can charge a republic artilery park.
I've recently started working towards 5 Infantry in 5 Chimeras, 2 Demolishers (1 as a tank commander), 1 autocannon russ, 1 BC Russ, 1 Dorn, 2 Hellhounds and Creed.
Cant wait for full hord armies to my local meta så I can start running 3 punishers + 3 eradicators with tripple heavy flamers.
Meanwhile. I'll keep runing 3 vanquishers, 18 bullgryns 70+ guardsmen. Might be a litle bit more expensive now but I'ts still realy fun.

Hellhounds are great. Getting that Guard discount price without the order hidden fees is too good.
Sadly, horde lists will get absolutely mullered in the new update.
Cull the horde means your opponent will easily score 20 points. In a guard list, they will also pick assassination. Another easy 20 points.
So I don't see mass infantry working anymore.
Sure, primary is still going to be strong, but your opponent is basically going to be making secondary objectives.
Mass infantry always beats the meta at some point
Auspex Tactics actually found a loophole with this. RAW, the "Cull the Horde" secondary requires units of 20 models. You can work around that by not fielding at full strength - i.e. you only put 19 models on the board even though you paid for 20. You can also go with Infantry Squads with Heavy Weapon units built in - that's two riflemen models lost for a single HWT model. (Is this going to be patched fast? I'm sure it will. But as it stands right now...)
@@Hardcover_Pilot I am absolutely betting on GW adressing that in an errata.
@@Hardcover_Pilot pretty sure HWTs count as 2 models for most purposes. Can't see why they wouldn't for this, though if it needs an explicit thing it'll be in an errata. The 19 model thing could work for a while, but it'll get patched at some point too.
@@callumjohnston858 I've never seen it count like that outside of Transport rules, but like you said, I'm sure they'll rework the rule to patch that as I'm sure it's not meant to be that easy to work around.

Well I still want to delete the opposition. Love my Baneblade so I try to build around it. It’s such an awesome piece of machinery.
It is honestly ludicrous as a primary Marines player how absolutely garbage our weapons are for the points we pay. We pay SO much for that 3+ weapon skill and save. Having s4 0ap 1 dmg weapons for melee and ranged on models that cost 80 for 5 of them is absolute garbage.

I believe so myself. I have to try and put 120 3d printed infantry together in 4 days 😂
Oof! It takes me about 15 minutes per model if nothing goes wrong. So let's say with getting things and other distractions it's about 20 minutes. 3 an hour. I would have to dedicate 10 hours a day to build all those guys.

Replacing the Hellhounds with 85 point Hydra's and using the spare points for more Scions, now that zero OC units can't do actions, sounds interesting. Especially since other changes make fliers more meta.
