I prefer the Battle Cannon with autocannons. This is because when I drive up to the hardest enemy with it, I have to shoot at that enemy to activate the buff for my disembarking scions. With the strength 8 and 9 weapons it's possible to help the guys out, with strength 4 not so much. I've used this tactic to bring down a great unclean one (psyker and command squad with 5 scions), I love it but it's not always worth the points.
I squeeze a (normal) taurox filled with 3 ogrins in every list possible! Same price as a chimera with troops. Different purpose: 12"move base; 3" movmovmov; advance roll; 3"disembarke and shoot: 18 s5 ap2 d2 shots (to the closest target) within a possible 33" threat range! Had good success with it so far

I WISH we could clone you, and have this Mordian Glory for our Gaurd, but I also want this for my Admech, my Knights, and my Ultramarines so what I am saying is HURRY UP, have a bunch of kids, and get them up to speed asap so that one day the Mordian Glory clan can make my dreams of having your kind of incredible content for my armies! (But at least you do Empire in Old World, so that dream's been met!)
I've been trying so hard to get a Taurox for ages but no-where in Australia sells them and they have been out of stock on the GW webstore for almost a year.
Standard Taurox is great for scoring secondaries. 15 inch with move move move and being able to deploy after advancing is massive. But it's tricky to dispute the quality of the chimera too. Primes are a bit trickier. Especially with the cost. I'm 100% using them in a scions army over deep strike but that's more thematic than anything. Also I tend to fill out my Scion ranks with sentinels to cover off the anti tank roles. Everything is very mobile but certainly glass cannons.
The missile launcher is much better than the gatling cannon imo, due to it being more versitile. Sure, it is not great AT, but it gives you a little supplemental AT if you need it. Furthermore, the frag averages 11 shots vs a 20 man horde - almost as good as the gattling cannon. Combined with the significantly better range, it always seems a purely better option to me.
For all those that don't like the model... look for 3d party front wheel assembly and make these into halftrack.... Very much a German SDKFz HT vibe. Ive got three of them and love the look
Personally , at first I didn’t find them of much account. I’d you’re running scions solo pretty much they are heavily needed. I’ve had good use from them with both Dakka and AT variants. I’d say you need both with the nerf of use for Meltas it’s even more needed. Long ago the hot AT drops could do that work , now you just still need some distanced AT still. At least that’s what I’ve found in my games.
I hate the Taurox in any shape or form. I wish GW would have given us a wheeled Chimera option with versions including: autocannon (12 troops), heavy mortar (no troops. Edit: or perhaps 1 mortar team?), Taurox battle cannon (six troops)🎉. All with a variable hull secondary weapon.
The taurox prime just doesn't justify itself - since Scions can deepstrike so they don't really need the transport. The ability isn't that good to justify its cost (overpriced compared the chimera).
taurox are disappointing, or im just happy enough with my chimeras. taurox are pretty ugly. the proportions are weird and the volley guns and autocannons are just glued on like a 12 year old would glue guns on his rhino... its beside the whole primaris range the ugliest and objectively worst model. nothing looks sensical and its just dumb.

Just got a Crassus for the same benefit. Except.. it’s actually decent.

I don't run a lot of scions, just a 5 man squad with their own command squad. It's the same cost as Kasrkin, but I can easily get more weapons.
I feel it just does not synergies with scions. Especially since deep striking is a niche only they can fulfill.
If Kaserkin could take one, maybe...

The unit is great. I've used it my play groups custom game based off of play on tabletop colosseum gamemode. It works amazing
If I attach a kasrkin unit to a Castellan could I put them in a Taurox prime because of the transfer of keywords?

You should try Taurox with 2x5+2P.Psykers. Dev.wounds with full re-reoll - easy way to purge every monster\vehicle
