I'm not trying to offend anyone But can someone explain to me why some americans call it soccer instead of football because football just sounds more logical because they definitely use their feet in contact with the ball more than Americas version of football
They almost HAVE to call it soccer because American Football (handegg) is already established as "football" in the US. So if they called it football instead of soccer it would be confusing to a lot of audience members and it would sound kind of pretentious, too
Yeah but why in the first place did they start calling it that?
I think the answer is pretty simple. In the US the current most watched sport is probably football. Meaning, NFL Football. The Soccer league is fairly new in the US, and the name Football was already taken years before by the NFL so it would just be a huge confusion.
But you see it doesn't make sense why call I football call it handegg or something cause leave football to be football cause they (real fooball players) actually use their feet like 99%of the time where handegg players use their hands most of the time.
Eldergaming1 They started calling football soccer because soccer is a sort of short version of "Assoc," coming from "association football." And then American Football is called football for some weird reason but I dont feel like looking it up lol
