That season gets talked about plenty. This doesn’t. Messi was on a rampage in 2012-13. Never seen a guy racking up goals like Steph Curry drains buckets. It was absolutely unreal.
What this video didn’t mention was Messi’s total goal contributions during this span. He scored 91 goals. Most players will never even sniff that number in goals AND assists, let alone in one calendar year. If you totaled his goals AND assists over that 2012-13 period, he’s well over 100.
For most players, those are a whole career stats, not one-year stats.

Messi was doing that while also being by far the best scorer in his side. He could start from deep dribble pass to the wings and get in the box to score.

2019 was not prime Messi, but it was surely Barcelona’s most reliant on him. Neymar was long gone, Suarez was on the decline, Dembele and Coutinho were not reliable. But don’t be mistaken, there is literally nothing Messi could do in 2018/19 that he couldn’t do in 2014/15. But you can clearly see that his pace had taken a dip. 2011/12 with top scorer 50 goals (still the current la liga record) and top assister 16 is probably even more impressive than 2018/19 and something we might never see in the game again.
@chuka6625 You're right but in 2015 the reliability on him was much lower. The fact the he literally took a very mid team to be 2 games away from treble is amazing. 2019 Barcelona was nowhere near this level without him.
@@danielo257 sure more reliability on him, but don’t confuse that with prime. you need to relax with the “much lower” bit. he got 25 man of the match awards in 14/15 and 17 in 18/19. Barcelona hugely relied on him, both in La Liga and UCL. In 14/15, he did not have a single average game.

Edit: Messi missed around 3 Months with his Injury and he stilled bagged around 47 goals in 46 appearances for Barcelona. If he played all 63 games for Barcelona he would’ve had around 64 which is less than his number in 2012 but ofcourse he slowed down his production after the injury
