I’ve noticed that a square neckline flatters the apple shape better than other necklines. I think the sharpness of the square help balance the roundness of the torso. I love monochrome dressing!
I like your style tips. What I find most important when I'm choosing tops is that the color flatter my 56 year old complexion. My mom used to do "Color My World" and I've found that the "summer" colors always look best for me.

And the Banana Republic sweater really is flattering even though the stripes are wider. It's so true that we should wear what fits our body now, and not try to hide in our clothes. And quality...yes! I’m trying some light shapewear. They’re not too tight but great to wear to just to smooth me out. I’ve finally found bras that fit. I went for so long in uncomfortable bras. Thank you for the positive affirmation for those of us, like me, who’s body image isn’t good. I’m learning tips from you there are styles I can wear that are flattering. No more crew neck t-shirts for me! And pants/jeans at the waist are more comfortable than just below waist. I’m long waisted and short legged… a 28” inseam. I’m learning lots of new things at 74 to wear to look nice even with my apple shape. I just started following you on Instagram and LTK. I don’t want to miss anything. 😊❤️
Such good tips, Cathy. I have a little one that I just discovered for myself. I really like wide leg pants and have several pairs in linen. I know that a more fitted top works best with them but I'm very self conscious about my stomach and in the past just wore a looser top. Well, now I wear more fitted tops and wear a vest on top. The vest makes a big difference. Helps hide my stomach while also showing a more skimming silhouette that works great with wide leg pants. And there's so many great options for vests now. I've gotten some great linen ones from Amazon. And btw, your hair is looking great!
Hi Cathy! Great video/tips. I would agree 100 percent on foundation pieces. Not only does it look bad and can spoil an outfit. BUT to have on an unflattering bra/panties it is so uncomfortable. There are times I wanted to rip my bra off in public...lol. Great tips on some of the clothing as well. I really enjoy seeing the various pieces side by side for the visual differences. I’m so sorry to hear that you hurt your knee on vacation. I know what knee pain is. I’ve had 4 shots in my knee recently. You have such pretty skin and that pearl necklace is beautiful. I recently tried to wash my hair with conditioner and also sprayed hairspray on my face instead of setting spray. 🤪 Hope your knee mends quickly.
I haven’t had a bra fitting since I moved. I just found a place. So I will go there and have one done. I know the one I wore today didn’t fit right. I love how high rise waists fit on me.
I love the advice for us apples. I need help figuring out how to dress nice with permanent painful injuries from an accident and subsequent surgeries that caused me to have nerve damage in spine and ribs, abdomen and back. Even slight pressing by a bra, belt, waist band cause sickening pain. In my search for answers I’ve found there is a large group of women like myself who have permanent injuries that make any pressure from a bra painful. How can we dress and still look nice? I’m a modest person and am lost for ideas.
So looking at your pics in the video, do you think tucking our shirts, blouses inside the shorts, pants etc looks better than leaving them out? I always leave mine on the outside. ?
Congratulations on the amazing following on your other video, i’m sure this one will surpass that number. I know Lane Bryant does bra fittings, as well as Soma, which is a subdivision of Chico’s and is sometimes in Chico’s.
I don't have an issue with horizontal stripes as long as they arent *super* wide -- but the rule I never break anymore is sticking with an open neckline-- the only exceptions are turtlenecks, No more crew necks ever!
Could you do a video on the length of pants….i have a 27 inseam like you but I struggle with crop pants. What length is crop?? Should I wear capris? Not sure what to do??
Crop pants are difficult on a 27" inseam, I just got a pair of crop pjs and on me they are full length. I find unless they are petite they end up being regular length. As for capris, I don't recommend them because they end in the middle of the calf which is the thickest part of the lower leg so it makes us look shorter. I always aim for ankle pants or shorts that end at the knee. It's really personal preference. Check out my original video and you will see the difference. The vertical stripe dress shown in your video that is blue and white which is like an oversized dress shirt, is that from Old Navy? I bought one that looks just like that from Old Navy. I plan on belting it with a skinny patent leather white belt.
You asked for suggestions on bras we like for those of us that are bigger chested. I wear a US G. I buy my bras at Dillards department store. I also like Wacoal styles 851334 and especially 855186. I like styles that bring the breast to the center as opposed to spreading it out to the side. Dillards performs bra fitting. Hope that helps!

A suggestion for horizontal stripes is a layer with a vest or light cardigan. It makes the pattern sharper and can be sliming.

It depends on the outfit, I try it both ways and choose the look that I like best.

I don't have an issue with horizontal stripes as long as they arent *super* wide -- but the rule I never break anymore is sticking with an open neckline-- the only exceptions are turtlenecks, No more crew necks ever!
I like to wear a horizontal stripe under a blazer or other jacket. I get the trendy look without it making me look so wide.

Could you do a video on the length of pants….i have a 27 inseam like you but I struggle with crop pants. What length is crop?? Should I wear capris? Not sure what to do??
Crop pants are difficult on a 27" inseam, I just got a pair of crop pjs and on me they are full length. I find unless they are petite they end up being regular length. As for capris, I don't recommend them because they end in the middle of the calf which is the thickest part of the lower leg so it makes us look shorter. I always aim for ankle pants or shorts that end at the knee. It's really personal preference. Check out my original video and you will see the difference. I wear a 34G and love Soma bras. The Enbliss wireless bra is very comfortable and really lifts the girls. 🤣
It really depends on the clothing and the individual body--just get a mirror! And yes, the right bra is necessary!!

The vertical stripe dress shown in your video that is blue and white which is like an oversized dress shirt, is that from Old Navy? I bought one that looks just like that from Old Navy. I plan on belting it with a skinny patent leather white belt.

I recently discovered Evelyn & Bobbie for bras. A little expensive, but I caught them on sale for just under $70 (US).
You asked for suggestions on bras we like for those of us that are bigger chested. I wear a US G. I buy my bras at Dillards department store. I also like Wacoal styles 851334 and especially 855186. I like styles that bring the breast to the center as opposed to spreading it out to the side. Dillards performs bra fitting. Hope that helps!

In my opinion shorts are never flattering on a short plus size lady. They cut you in two halves and emphasize your legs. I would prefer long wide legged trousers anytime .
