    Finally. So glad they made the audio more crisp! I always needed to edit in post at this level. I haven't updated yet, but I will definitely do it asap. Thank you so much for letting us know about it. And, Thank you, dji!

    I find the new firmware update still requires significant EQ to sound good, but with the same eq settings I used before, it sounds better. I also use some relatively heavy handed compression for any narration or voice. Levels are still quite low given how they display on my Pocket3. When I put the audio file into final cut pro, the level is rather low. I've made an audio preset that bumps the level up 5-7db, compresses it and applies some EQ.

      Content creators who promote this mic often don't mention they've eq it in post and without an eq it doesn't sound great and wirelessly it sounds even worse. But maybe I'm being too hard on it given its size and easy of use.

    Clarity is so much better with the new firmware, will be interesting to do some tests of non-voice situations and see if any compromises in different situations. But seeings as the mic is mainly targeted for voice recording it's good to hear such a difference

    If I only have a DJI Mic 2 Tx, can it automatically record 32-bit, or do I need to set it up again?

    I'm curious - if you just record (virtual) silence in a quiet room with the old and new firmware, does the update increase the noise floor noticeably? Because such a big boost in EQ probably would, given that these mics don't have particularly low self-noise

    Great video, but a correction if I may, only internal recording is 32 bit if using Bluetooth, and I think also wireless, happy to be corrected.

  • @MrPlaneTalk
    @MrPlaneTalk 3 місяці тому

    Were you connected via the DJI receiver?
    When using Bluetooth to connect to a device directly, like the X3, I was told by DJI that 1) internal recording is disabled. 2) noise reduction capability is disabled
    Can you please check this?

    curious about your mic mounting on your motorcycle helmet, do you have a video on that? is it a lav run into the mic, or did you fit it into the helmet? do you have the levels dipped on the mic, etc.

    Thank you for your review! I believe there might be a small error in your description regarding the internal recording storage capacity. It's not 15 hours, but rather 14 hours of 24-bit audio. Just thought I'd point that out for accuracy. Keep up the great work with your reviews!

    A major improvement.
    When tech companies put out a product that requires monkeying around in post, they are shooting themselves in the foot and this happens alot.
    The vast $$$$ for them to make is with joe consumers, not the tech savvy and ignoring this segment of the market is something that goes beyond ludicrous.

  • @CAMTechChris

    32 bit is actually only available when recording internally to either transmitter. 32 bit is not available when recording from tx to rx (camera) via wireless or Bluetooth.

    • @everonproducties
      @everonproducties 4 місяці тому

      so not on the action 4 via bluetooth right?

    • @CAMTechChris
      @CAMTechChris 4 місяці тому

      @@everonproducties correct, you will only get the 24 bit recoded directly to the Action 4 with Bluetooth. Good news is that you just need to be sure the transmitter is recording (I have mine set to automatically record as soon as the power on) and you will have the 32 bit recoding on the transmitter. You will need to then sync it in post but it’s easy.

    • @NewZealandBirdsNature
      @NewZealandBirdsNature 4 місяці тому

      This is not using the RX but I just did a test using 32 bit setting and the Pocket 3 and the files I got from the Pocket 3 were 32 bit, so it seems it works with that but not for use with a camera and RX

    • @em1860

      I could use some help. I'm pretty new to this. So I'm using my dji mic 2 with Samsung s24 ultra phone to record video for travel a vlog. My confusion lies with whether I need to use the receiver with my phone considering that the transmitter records/stores and I can utilize 32 bit float that way. So what would be the point of using the receiver in my case, or at all? No since in doing both right? Just record using the transmitter?

    • @CAMTechChris
      @CAMTechChris 4 місяці тому +1

      @@em1860 you should be able to Bluetooth directly from the tx to the s24, no receiver needed. You should also be able to connect the rx to the s24. And last, you can just use the tx as a “field recorder” (no Bluetooth or receiver) and benefit from the 32 bit audio. The last option will give you the best sound quality but you will need to sync the tx audio file with the s24 audio/video in your video editor, not difficult but adds another step. The Bluetooth option is probably the easiest but Bluetooth audio may be slightly less quality than the other options. If it were me, in the scenario you are describing, I would Bluetooth from tx to the phone, no receiver needed. That’s the easiest and fastest way and the audio quality will be just fine, probably much better than just using the phone mic alone. Only issue could be if you exceeded 30-40 feet from phone to tx. Just be sure to always record in the tx and you’ll have that as a backup.

    I don’t think your video counts for this, but many people haven’t realized that the low-cut filter is on by default. That significantly decrease the audio quality. Once that’s turned off, the quality greatly improves. Most reviews I’ve seen don’t take this into account. But with the firmware upgrade, they greatly improves on the already great sign you get from the previous set up with the low cut filter turned off.

    • @AliArghavan
      @AliArghavan 4 місяці тому

      That's not correct. Low cut filter is a standard for recording vocals. It does NOT affect clarity. Just a placebo introduced by some youtubers.
