  • In this video I bring you along as I diagnose and fix the classic P0496 that seems to plague these Buick Enclaves and Chevy Traverse's. A failed purge solenoid is very common on these and very easy to test right from the drivers seat using the scan tool. -Enjoy!

A friend purchased the big dollar Buick Enclave when they first came out circa 2011-12. He took delivery late in the evening and the following morning driving to work, it started bucking and lurching, then dead stopped. He hit the On-Star button, to be greeted by an operator needing information from him, as the dealer hadn't forwarded any owner info from the late evening delivery.
The operator was very professional and helpful, however my friend was very ticked that this brand new vehicle chit the bed. He offered up a reason why GM installed On-Star on the vehicle, that they knew it was going to break down and require help.
GM had to send the technician that built the transmission as it was the first failure on the new platform and there were no spare transmissions available for replacement.

Excellent video. Taught me how to change part in under 10 minutes. “If I can do it, you can do it!”

"What should we be seeing?" That's the golden question. Many thanks as always.

Thank you for this informative video. Great step by step explanation on how to replace the valve. Just bought one at the dealership and installed it myself. Like a charm. Great work.
    Cheers from Toronto! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🍺🇨🇦👍

Man o day, wish my evap fix on my son’s 01 Xterra was as straight fwd as that. Replaced the ‘rotted in two’ cut vlv/byp vlv, then the pigtail (short code), then the cut vlv, then nixed the crapola Stant locking gas cap. Viola!
Was jones’in for a SMA fix over the break! Happy New Year! 👍🏼
