@@FleurPillager Masks, if worn properly (which can be done with proper education), greatly reduce the spread of COVID. Kids can, do and are getting and spreading COVID. While small, the rate of child hospitalizations and deaths is increasing (see Texas). If you live in an area with low vaccination rates for adults/school workers, and a high case rate... masks should 100% be required for kids. High school especially. The mistake was keeping kids out of school. THAT was the detriment to their well being. Masks are about as annoying and impactful as a school uniform. Sucks, there are some downsides, but it is NOT some blight on their existence.

It only shows just how impressionable kids are. The younger they are, the more easily they can be shaped by the people that they hang around most often. Growing up as a kid is a crapshoot. They don't know what quality of parents they'll have, what quality of home life they'll have, who they'll have (if anyone) for siblings or friends, etc. It's depressing to think that kids grow up not fully aware of how the people around them early in their lives influence their development, sometimes to the detriment of their adult years. My kids’ school has been operating normally throughout the pandemic because they implemented strict measures on masks, social distancing, and testing, etc. Thanks to everyone’s collective effort, all the kids in the school didn’t miss a single day’s learning. Not one single parent pulled any nonsense like this, most importantly, all those 1000+kids ranging from 3yo to 12th grade did absolutely fine with masks. It does take some getting used to, but the no one ever gave up going to school because they had to wear masks! Being ignorant is not your fault, but passing that ignorance to the next generation is a crime!

If kids aren’t wearing them properly then they need to be taught how to wear them properly. Kids are taught things everyday. It’s not a big deal to teach your kids proper mask hygiene and proper way to wear a mask. If you don’t know then ask your kids doctor for help.

We aren’t going out. We aren’t going to concerts. We have our groceries delivered. I picked all virtual learning again because we are afraid of these other families that simply do not understand viral infection and spread. To us we feel it’s a risk of death to send our kids to school. We find virtual learning very difficult as I still have to work full time in healthcare, but I want to be able to keep my children as safe as possible, not bury them.

They are no longer allowing us to work from home. I have been in Isolation since the shut down. I was a teacher last year. We all had to wear masks the entire school year. I can tell you that none of the kids cared about wearing a mask. They actually preferred wearing masks.
As of 9/18/21 673,637 US Americans have died from Covid and the pandemic isn't over. Total USA deaths from the Spanish Flu was roughly 675,000. We are only about 1500 people away from matching that number....
The great irony of all this is that by and large kids don't mind masks. The parents are the ones acting like children.

While small, the rate of child hospitalizations and deaths is increasing (see Texas). If you live in an area with low vaccination rates for adults/school workers, and a high case rate... masks should 100% be required for kids. High school especially.
The mistake was keeping kids out of school. THAT was the detriment to their well being. Masks are about as annoying and impactful as a school uniform. Sucks, there are some downsides, but it is NOT some blight on their existence.

Can I ask a question? Have you sat in a classroom for 8 hours a day. Trying to read, learn, write and so many other things as a little child. It only shows just how impressionable kids are. The younger they are, the more easily they can be shaped by the people that they hang around most often.
Growing up as a kid is a crapshoot. They don't know what quality of parents they'll have, what quality of home life they'll have, who they'll have (if anyone) for siblings or friends, etc.
It's depressing to think that kids grow up not fully aware of how the people around them early in their lives influence their development, sometimes to the detriment of their adult years. My kids’ school has been operating normally throughout the pandemic because they implemented strict measures on masks, social distancing, and testing, etc. Thanks to everyone’s collective effort, all the kids in the school didn’t miss a single day’s learning. Not one single parent pulled any nonsense like this, most importantly, all those 1000+kids ranging from 3yo to 12th grade did absolutely fine with masks. It does take some getting used to, but the no one ever gave up going to school because they had to wear masks! Being ignorant is not your fault, but passing that ignorance to the next generation is a crime!

Since day 1 I have made it important for the kids to see that I’m wearing a mask and wearing it properly. My kids could wear mask alllll day with no complaints. One of my children is asthmatic. No issues! My kids wear them even if all the other kids around them don’t. That’s because we tell them how important it is to protect themselves and others. Just wear your masks and your kids will follow suit! Geez. It’s not taking your rights away-it’s protecting those who can get very sick from this virus that we don’t know much about. Did you miss the part where they said one of her children was autistic? That would make it very hard to follow a mask mandate consistently. I assume she has had many episodes with n that child over the last year and that she is well qualified to speak for that child. We aren’t going out. We aren’t going to concerts. We have our groceries delivered. I picked all virtual learning again because we are afraid of these other families that simply do not understand viral infection and spread. To us we feel it’s a risk of death to send our kids to school. We find virtual learning very difficult as I still have to work full time in healthcare, but I want to be able to keep my children as safe as possible, not bury them.

I am a school employee, when schools shut down they removed me from work because I have multipal medical condotions, I have not returned to the school site. They are no longer allowing us to work from home. I have been in Isolation since the shut down. I like you do what I have to so that I can protect myself & others, I have not been vaccinated😣 Only because my concerns requarding my med condotins play a big factor in side effects. I did get the flu shot in Feb 2021 & was so sick for 10 days lost 12 lbs. Please take care of your family. I am going to retire from the school district after my 27 years of dedication. 😢

I was a teacher last year. We all had to wear masks the entire school year. I can tell you that none of the kids cared about wearing a mask. They actually preferred wearing masks.
