@@williambradley8004 - Ah... The joys of a great big fat endorsement contract from Fender! 😁Suddenly everything's different and better and the past never happened... What's significant is that Geddy took his Rickenbacker 'signature sound' to Fender when he made the move; they very kindly reverse-engineered the pop, crack, grind and snarl to produce the Geddy Lee bass. Hmm. It may say Fender on the headstock, but what we're hearing is pure Ricky.
@@williambradley8004like this sound is better than the jazz bass he used on the Moving Pictures record. too much muff pedal effect on that record for me.The Fender sound he had after Vapor Trails was also good. I never liked the earlier RUSH, Fly by Night Ricky sound, Grace under pressure Steinberger, or the Power Windows Wal sound.
People sometimes wonder why this era produced the best music and best musicians ever. I’m only 34 but I know why… this was it, our freedom as a society & electronics were at the right spot, while there are pieces of it that have reached new heights society has become obsessed with other things, spending all the time you have growing up playing an instrument for fun isn’t a thing kids really do anymore. Instead of 3 great friends with amazing talents coming together and forming Rush they’re playing Rocket league, maybe they’re really good and make money from it, but it has no impact on society and won’t move future generations. Rush will!

Anyone that's cracked the throttle on a motorcycle or car on a countryside drive with the windows down knows what Neil is laying down. Neil was a gearhead himself. We probably all unwittingly encountered him on his beloved motorcycle treks around the world.
My friend had a red Chevy Baretta in the late 80s. It was OUR Red Barchetta. Vrooooommm!!!
Corsica Beretta was a good run for the bow tie indeed well made car it did last well
God this brings back so so many memories!! Bought 2112 when it first came out.. I was 14 I believe.. we’d listen to it in the morning before school, go out back to the old pump house and smoke a bowl or two… those were days that I’ll never forget…
All that from 3 guys! Damn! Neil Peart is a beast!
sasquatch to be exact??
I know this post was 5 years ago but I still got to say yeah sometimes I forget there's only three of them up there.
In my opinion, this is one of their BEST songs, musically and lyrically.
Wow, what an experience that would have been to see them live! 😮❤ I was born too late 😢
Rush is the band every other band wishes they were!!!!
Used to play the Moving pictures vinyl album in 1982. As a drummer it was an absolutely brilliant album on vinyl. In the 22nd century the folk will be raving about Limelight and Tom Sawyer and Red Barchetta and all the albums Rush generously gifted the world. Thank you so much.
For Those Teenagers looking for their Ultimate Car Song... For we old Guys looking for our Youth with the Ultimate car song,...There is No Better Than This!
Nowadays car songs be about civics and teslas instead of old Ferraris
They say their on top of the game, they're always on top of their game
Holy crap those computer graphics were awesome. Haha. This is such a great version of this song.
1/10/2020 remembering Neil Peart. Thoughts and prayers to his family including Alex and Geddy. Thanks for the great music...
As near to perfection as we have heard to date
I was 13 when MTV was first launched in 1981. There were about 4 videos from "Exit...Stage Left" that were on constant rotation when it came out in the same year. This was one of them. Which also happened to be my first exposure to Rush. Thus, a new lifetime fan was born. I miss you, Professor. 💔
Been watching and enjoying this most of my life , and , everytime i come back , feel like i'm at home , Rush is part of my path in this world , and i'm grateful for that.
My parent's first date was a Rush concert
Infinity On High-Functioning Sociopath very cool !
That’s quite a first date
That's a date you don't forget! Che forza!
Too bad you never saw that "young" side of your parents....they were so cool back then....what a bummer, they of all people trying to give you " good advice" in your life...after what they did..back then. ;) lol
That's cool, I met my wife at a show
Sounds almost identical to the studio version, damn!
And is what made this whole LP so amazing.
I'm not saying i'm old, but when i saw them, the stage and video was exactly like this video.
@@brewhaha1555 Yes, and it was amazing. Best live rock show from 78 to 88.
Best comment. Not a lot of bands can pull that off.
I've listened to that song 1000 times. But it feel like the first time, every time.
Just my humble, 57 yo opinion, one of the best songs, lyrically and instrumentally, in history
PERFECTION. Thanks God for the Gift of Rush.🙏🙏🙏
Technically excellent band and amazing vocals. But this song is pure poetry. Some of the most beautiful lyrics ever written.
SOOO f'n true.. Pure genius these three.
Quite simply the best drummer ever ..rip
One of my favotite Rush songs.
OMG, I loved this tune... Truly a movie that played over and over in my head...
Great comment, I totally agree this song paints an awesome set of pictures in your head ; moving pictures!
+Joe Allen -- True. Very cinematic.
Musical, lyrical storytelling.
Yaaasss! I was IN that car, racing down a country road! lolol ;)
Pretty much a note-by-note reproduction of the studio version. Pretty damn impressive by a 3-piece.
Randsurfer h
They are players. Lots of albums are recorded live. I have them all.
Randsurfer I love Geddys change to the vocals and bass, just slight. Makes it better
Most people who don’t know RUSH would say, “Geez, that’s just like the studio album”. But damn, try to replicate any RUSH song live. Enough said...
I think this version is even better than on Moving Pictures. The guys obviously loved playing this song, and what an incridible sound production they made back then.
Neil can't just keep a simple beat can he? Damn every song is an adventure. You, sometimes, have to listen to a song several times just to follow an individual player. Classic.
This band was the soundtrack of my entire teens...
Live rock and roll simply doesn't get any better than this. Astoundingly awesome!

RIP Neil. This is my favorite Rush song.
Mine as well.
@POINTTWOFIVEMOA It did that to me.
This is Rush at their absolute peak IMHO.
All Time Driving Tune, no doubts. I have driven at some ridiculous speeds listening to this song, then YYZ keeps it totally alive! Thanks RUSH!
One of my favorite songs of all time.
Don't be sad everyone. We'll get through this together.
Drunk3n_M0nk ThankYouu!
They can scatter my ashes to that recording in Montreal that nite...
This song is my ringtone on my phone for two reasons. 1. To know that only my phone is going off or 2. See if anybody starts singing so I can say how they have wonderful taste in music.
Well done!
What a talented band this is, the POETS of ROCK!!! Long Live Alex, Geddy and Neil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Classic song by a one of a kind trio. Man this takes me back to my childhood. I miss the days of MTV and these great videos. Rush will live forever in my mind and heart. Most of all, thank you Neil Peart for drumming like no other. Rest in Peace brother. I'm so fortunate to have seen you in Wichita a few years ago. We sometimes take for granted how long these guys have played together. I was crushed to hear he was ill. I'm glad that they took time to call it quits and spend quality time with family and friends. Rest easy and condolences to the Peart family, Geddy, Alex and friends.
Two words: freaking called it!
Holy shit this sounds incredible. They're always incredible live but this fedelity is ridiculous. Every bass note is so clear.
Geddy's Rickenbacker 4001 is the best sound he's ever had
If that were so he wouldn't have switched to his Jazz Bass.
Ged always had the best sound, the man isn't human!
Rush is timeless and saw the future...
Rush will!
Neil Peart’s passing brought me here 😭 Rest In Peace, you will be missed but never forgotten. A true master and legend behind the kit
Godpeed, Neil. One of the best songs ever of living the hell out of life.
When I was a kid.maybe 11 12? I got a dirt bike from my uncle and road it through 3 chains and sprockets. On the trails by the train tracks. For years. I listened to this on my Sony. Every time. 85 through 89 till I got a new bike. . Never forget it.
This will never get old. Just so good...
RIP Professor you will be sorely missed you have been part of my soundtrack to life
Love Neil's playing on this tune. Rest In Peace, Professor, and thanks for all of the excellence you gave us.
