Damn i spent half my night watching how to play this game, you're one of the best tutorials ive watched. Getting it on switch tomorrow wish me luck lol
Arthur and Simone Chapman yay can’t wait then! Will be watching more videos as I progress along because I still have no clue what I’m doing 🤨 and if I like it, I see they’re releasing another on in December!
I just picked up FS17 on the steam autumn sale. Thank you so much for these into videos, I have never played a FS game and holy cow is the learning curve steep. The game really gives you very little info on what to do once you finnish the 3 tutorial "quests"... I was so lost.
Arthur, a good general rule of thumb about how to know what side to point the plow: the tail of the plow should always point towards the unplowed area of the field.
Thank you for what you have done here and at such depth. I own a Nintendo switch and unfortunately the only option I have as far as looking in the mirror and calling myself a man is the original farming simulator (this one). After 500 hours of Golden Crest (map 1) I realized I only had it set on normal 😂😂😂
When the game first released, there was no restrictions on using the weeder, you could even use it when there was no seed in the ground. Thus you could take a cultivated field and use the seeding-weeder, to weed and plant oilseed radish - for 2 stages of fertilization. I think it was about 3 months in when they changed weeders to restrict to the first 2 stages of plant growth (when you can see plants on the field) - which made that particular weeder completely pointless - and since it costs more than the wide one, even less worth it!
Great video. Very clear and informative, thanks for emphasis on realism. When I learn virtually to simulate reality I prefer when it's the real world ha.
I have always used the cultivar and skipped the plowing phase. Now I'm going to start doing it the correct way to see if my fields yield a larger harvest.
@@Vbluguitar Yes, I now have plowing turned on. I completed a side mission/field to get the money for the purchase. I'm a new player to this game, so I'm taking tips from your videos to incorporate into my gameplay.
Hi dude. very informative tutorial specially for beginners like me. quick question. What is the difference of 1 stage fertilizer over 3 stage? does it sell in much higher price? thanks!
The more you fertilize, the more crop you get. If an unfertilized field gives you 1000 liters of grain, each fertilization with give you 333 liters more. So 1 stage = 1333 liters, 2 stage = 1666 liters, and stage 3 fertilization gives you 1999 liters or double what your unfertilized field will give you (1000 liters).
Wonderful video Arthur. I have a question, plow and cultivate count as one ferti stage each one? Do i have to spray some ferti for the third? If, when?
No, They are seperate - Plowing only has to be done every 3rd time, and cultivating must be done after each crop, though some seeders cultivate for you. (they will say "ground does not have to be prepared first" in the description. This video covers all the fertilization ua-cam.com/video/181Brf9wpms/v-deo.html
Is it not better to just have one stage of fertiliser in the menu so you just have to fertilise it once do you get the same yield as if it where set on three stages?
Depends on how realistic you want it. You could also turn off crop destruction and plowing and just plant and harvest. The game is completely configurable to your liking, but some of us play it more like a sim than a game.
I watched the first part of that tutorial, and it made a huge difference for me. Frankly I was ready to toss that game. I did not get anything and found the in game tutorials absolutely terrible, bur I was able to enjoy the fame yesterday.
a great video and tutorial but i do have one question. when you said several hours later was that real time or game time that you accelerated? should i accelerate my game time?
just your fields - when you stand on a field in the lower corner it will tell you who owns it and what is growing on it. Also in the map view, your owned fields will have green numbers while other fields will be white numbers
Arthur, do you recommend when first starting to follow your tips on selling all the starting grain and equipment and buying the equipment your show in the "how to start your farm" tut? I'm not a farmer, never been but FS17 just looked like something as a change of pace from my normal gaming. Also, hit me up on Steam, I'm Jameson Bolmara. Thanks for getting me started!
The only downside with doing silage bales is that it can get tedious, but it does make 2x as much income. If you can stand the tediousness, then I would do it and then buy a nicer harvester and tractors when you can afford them. If you want to experience the farming crops side though, then I would recommend getting the farming set I show (valtra, vaderstadt and so on) and just keep the old harvester. There really is no right or wrong way to do it. Just options.
You can AFK, do some logging, or speed up time to 120. Crops stop growing when you exit the game. If you are on the PC look for the Time Fast Forward mod and you can super speed up time so you can go through an entire day in a few seconds.
I actually went back to just using an Xbox controller for this game - its way simpler and more comfortable. I was using a G13, A G29, and a microsoft sidewinder 3D pro joystick for arm controls.
You need to check the status of your field - in the menu map it will tell you if the field needs plowing or not. You can skip it, but you will lose 10 percent of the crop by not plowing. It needs to be done once every 3 crops.
Once its been collected with a pickup wagon its best to either put it in a hay loft (can be purchased in the shop) or sold, or dumped in piles. You can bale the piles, but its not realistic and difficult.
I sold all my equipment except the harvester like you did in the previous video. Do I really need to spray fertilizer 3 times? I'm not understanding the 3 parts. Is it optional
You can turn it on and off in the menu, but by default, medium and hard mode require 3 fert stages - See if this helps - ua-cam.com/video/181Brf9wpms/v-deo.html

I would say the grind is the fun part - that is why having lots of maps is important - once you feel you have "succeeded" on a particular farm, you can move to the next map and do something different. But yeah - I would start with grass, buy some additional fields and then start getting equipment for those other fields. Then expand to animals. There is no real end game. I also agree about 17 - its much smoother than 19 on xbox. You really need a good pc for 19, and the xbox emulation just doesn't do it justice.

Depends on your settings. If you turn periodic plowing off, or play easy mode, then yes. If you have periodic plowing on, you need to plow after every third crop
oil seed radish, yes. You let it grow one stage and then plow it under. In real life, the oil seed radish will pull nitrogen to the surface. Then when you plow it under you have fertilizer.

as soon as it pops up (green leaves) you can plow it under. Just takes one stage of growth. It won't get any taller.
