Color Temperature Calibration
The Action 4's color temperature sensor intelligently adjusts white balance and auto-exposure for highly accurate colors, even in complex lighting environments like when scuba or free diving deep below the surface. Sync with the DJI Mimo app for improved detail rendering underwater.
RockSteady 3.0
An intelligent stabilization algorithm eliminates camera shake in all directions to ensure your high-adrenaline mountain biking or skiing shots maintain smooth movements while recording in 4K.
HorizonSteady and HorizonBalancing
This smart stabilization feature helps to eliminate camera shake in all directions, and even horizontally corrects tilt at any angle in 2.7K60 video. That means footage can remain horizontally level, even through heavy bumps and 360° rotations. In addition, you can activate HorizonBalancing, which corrects the tilt horizontally within ±45° and supports recording stable 4K60 videos.
Voice Prompt and Voice Control
Intuitive control, even if you can't see the screens. Short-press the Quick Switch button, and the camera will voice broadcast the current shooting mode. Even if the camera is installed on a helmet or other hard-to-see location, you can accurately select the required mode and be confident you'll never miss the moment you want to record. You can even add up to five sets of custom parameters to the shooting mode list. Remotely control your camera with just your voice. Ideal for scenarios where your hands are busy, the Action 4 recognizes voice commands with a high recognition rate, letting you stay locked into the moment.
Dual Touchscreens
The 1.4" front screen is convenient for vlogging and framing selfies and supports commonly used touch control functions. No more turning the camera around for parameter adjustments, mode switching, or video playback. When the camera is switched between horizontal and vertical orientations, the user interface adapts accordingly. The touchscreens are also sensitive enough to be operated easily with wet hands.
AI Selfie Stick Removal
Use the upgraded InvisiStick function with the DJI Mimo app to fully eliminate the selfie stick from your shots to maintain your camera's POV without interference from your mounting equipment.
Wi-Fi Live Streaming
Live stream directly from your Action 4 using the built-in dual-band Wi-Fi or your phone's hotspot.
Onboard Audio Interface
Three built-in omnidirectional microphones record accurate and clear sound. A hidden microphone at the bottom of the Action 4 suppresses wind noise for windy or fast-moving scenarios. Connect the separately available DJI Mic for a portable, easy-to-mount audio solution with a transmission distance of 820'. The camera can connect to other external microphones using an optional USB-C to 3.5mm cable.
Waterproof
The camera body can be fully submerged up to 59'.
Long Battery Life, Multifunctional Battery Case
Continuously record for 2.6 hours with the 1770mAh high-capacity battery capable of operating in temperatures as low as -4°F. Fast charging technology allows you to power up the battery 80% in just 18 minutes. Included in the Adventure Combo is a Multifunctional Battery Case, which stores three Osmo 4 batteries and fast charges them simultaneously. Next year I'll give you more than an hour heads up.
I rarely head into the bees without a veil cause surveyors gotta be able to see... but installed some nucs Saturday, cleaned up and walked past my truck that I brought em home in and took one about 2" below my eye...I feel for the boss lady!
Do they know you well enough or did you have to explain your puffy eye at work? haha
Every time my wife gets stung, I hold my breath until she decides if I'm allowed to continue having bees! 😄

Thank you for the review, the sound and video quality look much better than my gopro 10. And just the fact it doesn't overheat after 2 minutes has me sold, ive resorted to using my phone because of it. I also like that you don't have to take it all apart to swap out batteries.

The ease of changing the battery is a big improvement. I didn't mention that besides not having to unscrew the mount to access the battery, the SD card and battery are both easier to remove on the DJI than the GoPro. It's still a little fiddly with my big fingers but easier none the less.
Elizabeth is a trooper. She has done really good at getting past her fear of being stung. And poor Tommy looks like the older brother. He's not. LOL

I don’t know your business but if that happened to me and I held that truck door open very long, I’d have a different kind of knot on the side of my head and it would make a bee sting seem like a trip to the beach.

I shoot with a DJI Action 1 and have for several years now. I really like it, never had any issues with it. It can get hot but it will not shut off.
It's stood the test of time then.
Great tutorial. I started with a GoPro and switched to my iPhone because I couldn’t stand the GoPro.

There are definite plusses to using a phone. It has a few drawbacks but there's no real learning curve and you already have it with you most of the time.

Yappy still uses his 10 a lot. The GoPro 7 and 8 were the only ones I had.
Storms dropped a tree on my bee hive . Lucky it and the bees survived .

My puter barely does 1080 and it ain’t old. 2.7 is tough, but doable. 1080 on the Hero 8 looks very good though. I lost audio a few times in the 8. I saw Joey’s DJI and I like it pretty well. I’m not done with the video yet, but wireless mic….id like to add that to the DJI. I need to travel to the land of wireless mic one of these days. Theee queen cells were so much prettier this year. I’m probably going to go full on cells from him next year. Maybe 50 or 60….
I have the Rode Wireless Go II. I never use them but I think I'm going to get the DJI mics. They look about the same but with less cables required to hook to the DJI camera.

Thanks for showing this option. Im perfectly happy with my Samsung S21 until it gets hot. Also had a low light issue where it kept zooming in and out. And there was the time it fell off the tripod and landed directly on the mic receiver. Hasn't held a charging cable securly since. OK, maybe im not perfectly happy with it! I was so wanting to see yall drop that swarm!
I'm a fan of old Sony and Samsung gear. Next year I plan on a multi camera setup for a mega drop.

The audio and video are great on it.
I for sure like the DJI audio better than the Iphone audio. They are close but the DJI wins out because there's not as much directional recording, so you don't have to talk that much louder when you turn the camera around.

I don't know where they are getting them but the heavy equipment operators who do action shots of moving their machines on the road have magnetic mounts for their action cameras since everything around them is metal. Seems to hold up good on outside of trucks and machinery. Just a thought.. For reference I am thinking of Dirt Perfect and Letsdig18 plus others. Might be stronger than suction seems like.
Probably wouldn't be too hard to make some.

Picked up a brand new action 3 adventure combo last week for a stupid price. (200 Aussie dollhairs) Would have been rude not to. Smallrig cage should arrive Thursday.
I love the Smallrig stuff and I'm liking the DJI even more since I've had people sending me messages wanting to know how what sound adjustments I made. They are amazed that the audio is straight from the camera with very little, if any adjustments.
Randy I had something happen to me two weeks ago that I wish I would have been doing a video on it . I walked out to the bee yard here at my house I was over 40’ from the hives just standing there watching the bee to see what the flow was doing. I bee hit me in the face an went up my nose just a little ways an stung me about a 1/4” below my nose . I guess she thought that was the entrance to her hive . Yes I said ouch😡😡. Your new camera set up looks like a real deal an sounds great also . I know someone had a headache after that sting an no we don’t think you did it this time. LOL THANKS

For some peace of mind, you should try to safety the camera if your using it on the outside of a moving vehicle. The best safety in my opinion is 1/8, or even 1/16" aircraft cable. Make a couple of eyes and get a couple of small locking or latching caribeaners.
You can make them longer as well if you use a verlock... maybe get some 1/8" shackles too.
Good idea and it wouldn't be hard to attach one to the camera cage.
@628DirtRooster I have worked in TV and Film lighting for a large amount of my career... working as a grip on occasion, I used to mount camera rigs to cars, trucks and even helicopters sometimes. Talk about nerve racking.

Cell phones do a pretty darn good job for most scenarios.
That was good. The over heating and freezing makes me crazy with my gopro. Cover your ear @JeffHorchff. Makes me wanna throw it in the DingDang swamp!

DJI action 4 is the one I use for my channel also.
IT works great for underwater also.
I haven't tried any under water shots yet but I have some ideas.

quick tip not trying to be rude, just you could edit the text about things like video footage of some scenery and audio of some music or some outside sounds over the video to avoid the jolt from the video and ensure a more smooth video experience and keep audio going as its also more suitable for people who like audio if they are doing something while watching you videos and like the description's you give when doing your videos as your editing anyway and I'm only trying to help.
I don't take it as rude. It's good advice. I typically do spend more time on my edits but this was meant to be a members-only video. I only released it to the general public because I've been too swamped to edit my regular content lately.

Doesn't. Really matter what I shoot videos in. I can't watch anything over 360p with my internet.😢 GoPro is lousy , no zoom unless you zoom before recording.

I have seen on youtube most have moved over to the dji actioncams, and those that haven't are waiting on their gopros to fail or the few that are still sponsored by gopro
Gopro is too busy making the big bucks from reality TV show companies and really dropped the ball on the consumer market
