Epic vid mate. Just watched this one and your gopro vid from Sat. I was at outsides both days also. Such a pumping weekend. Cheers for the footage and edit!
Stunning perspective..I was mesmerized by the pull of the oceans power, the chill music, the fantastic surfers and the absolutely gorgeous coastline! Best UA-cam surf movie I’ve seen in a long time 🌺🌈🏄♂️🏄🏻🏄🏾♀️ 🌊❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ where is this beautiful spot? 🌍
I surfed it from age 12 till the wheels fell off my body at age 57. I thought having both hips resurfaced would get me back out there but no. Now well into my 60s and looking at more joint replacements all I can do these days is watch videos and weep. In the age of drones I miss footage from the water or land with a long lens, I can relate to it better as I’m not a seagull.
I took some footage from the land but I only have a 400mm and it's extremely difficult here as the action is so far away--consequently shaky. Also, there are no high spots and with the waves being big, the waves in the foreground obscure the waves and surfers on the waves behind. And the spray made everything hazy. Combined with the afternoon light that was coming in at the wrong angle it looked pretty crappy, so I gave up.
@@tui_ruwhiu_wavecomms Maybe in the future drone technology might include look down radar altimeters that automatically keep the machine at a constant foot or two above the surface. This way you could “ safely” fly just ahead of your subject riding the updraft from the swell as gannets and other seabirds do. Talk to a company called Jackson Aerospace. They are the preeminent drone building company in NZ. Possibly well within their capabilities. I look forward to more Raglan, and maybe some Ruapuke footage.
@@mitseraffej5812 If I was a better drone pilot with a better drone I could likely do a better job of getting shots from a lower angle. I don't fly my drone that often and it's a mini. The waves were often moving faster than it could fly backwards, although I forgot to switch it to sports mode. :-)
Tui, have seen some drone footage of someone flying a drone FLATOUT in front of a guy in a kayak pretty much sliding near vertical down a rockslide in Canada. had to watch it several times to realise what I was looking at… RedBull Hardline this year in Tazi had some phenomenal stuff too, chasing guys downhill @max drone-speed. keep it up dude/ this is a beautiful clip man, like your music too!
Remember when Sam Kereopa used to tell us how it is...back in the day. Used to like whales next to that rock, Indies was way too far, definitely worth it though.
Thanks for sharing! What a Sunday it was! One to remember for sure.
Sure was.
great job. Shows the whole set up not just someone on a wave like most surf vids
Thanks. I'd like to do both but not confident enough yet in my drone flying abilities to go low as don't want to ditch my drone in the drink.

Hope you had good waves. Epic weekend.
Still great waves. Just more houses and surfers now.

Glad you like it. It's in Aotearoa.
Thank you Tui.
You're welcome. There for everyone to enjoy, even if you weren't out there.
it was a mean day man
That it was. I ended up getting washed across the Whale Bay rocks. :-)
@@tui_ruwhiu_wavecomms i almost did
what a wave
That it is.
Nice surfing spot.
One of the better ones here.
beautiful clip man/ well-matched w t music. great to see surfers respecting those already on t wave/ some of that Oz stuff is cringeworthy.
Thanks
Stayed here for 2 weeks over 30 years ago now. Good times and great memories of those special waves.

GOOD WAVES
Was an amazing session.
Great spot.. tested positive for sharks though
Sharks everywhere. We have to live with them.
Luke Cederman brought me here
Nice
Thanks
Perffect....where s the bodyboarders..?
None out where I was surfing and filming. Maybe 2 breaks down.
Few down Manu ways.
Looks like Chile.
Newver been there but have seen it has long lefthanders.
@@tui_ruwhiu_wavecomms Live here for over 20 years, Goofy's dream land and never seen it flat, ever.
@@ekphotography Never lived there but been surfing there for 49+ years. Rarely disappointed.
Im not buying it. Cold with no decent barrel section. Good 2 times a year at best. Add in grumpy locals and no parking. Give me Bukit any day.
surfed here around 50 odd years ago 1969/70/71 ...when you had to walk down to the break ... ie no car park crap !
Not that long after Miki Dora. That was a long time ago.
