The image of hell being a dusty, hot and sweaty nightclub where the patrons cant hear anything, the music, each other or themselves while writing in anger and pandemonium and being forced to play for them, not being able to hear even your own instrument, much less your bandmates playing around there, playing only for the vain hope someone or something will hear you and provide relief from the moment. Trying to pour out your soul and connect, but you can't even connect with yourself no matter how hard you play. I can almost see that dark and smoky stage...
i know this has probably gone to the youtube back catalog and not getting the views it should, but my god gents, this song moves me ever time i here it. thank you for adding this to my life
Yodel well, and your pickings swell And you play so hard for the folks in Hell And they can't see nothing Nothin' at all Chains to the legs, bolts to the ground You boys ain't leaving 'til this crowd turns around They don't hear nothing Nothing at all The colder the night, the hotter the lights Your sweat drips down and the crowd starts fist-fights They hear nothing Nothing at all But the air on stage is burning our lungs And we're all going deaf from the beating drums And you can't see a thing for all the blood And sweat in our eyes Yeah we played 'til we died, and now we're all dead, But the man says "You gotta get up there again And you can't come down 'til the brimstone turns to ice" But the air on stage is burning our lungs And we're all going deaf from the beating drums And you can't see a thing for all the blood And sweat in our eyes Yeah we played 'til we died, and now we're all dead, But the man says "You gotta get up there again And you can't come down 'til the brimstone turns to ice" And you can't sing a note for the dust in your throat We're running on empty and the bands lost all hope 'Cause they hear nothing Nothing at all Welcome to hell, ladies and gent's You sinned and fell, no time to repent And you can't hear nothing Nothing at all No you can't hear nothing Nothing ... at ... alllll...
I first saw graveyard train in Melbourne a few years ago supporting concrete blonde. It was an excellent show and I'll never forget them performing 'ghost of a Texas ladies man' with concrete blonde. Their videos don't do them justice wait till you see them live they are amazing. I've seen them at least 8 times, they never fail to disappoint, great music, great lyrics and they just seem to be having a fun time on stage which just adds to the experience.
Live is ALWAYS the way to go! Most bands (that r any good at all really ) ARE better live. 😉 In addition 2 what I said in parentheses, unless they r auto tuned 2 all hell. 🙄😒🤮 Otherwise, live kicks AMPLE ASS!! 😬👍👏🤘👅
@@comfortablynumb7265 this is a lot closer to the roots of country than anything on a country station in the last 30 years so. course there was that old coal miners ballad about having a fun little girls night out and cheating on your husband because he walked on your clean carpet.
You can kinda say the video itself is an infinite loop... since they have to sing it over and over. basically, making an infinite loop in an infinite loop ... i will show myself the door out...
I had a dream the world was ending and this song was playing on a radio in a van I was trapped inside of while the world burned around me. I hadn't heard this song in years.
On point Mick. I even got confused for a second there while listening to this song... My thoughts were like: "Hell man, what happened to Nick's voice here?"
At least the little girl in the video learned a valuable life lesson from the song... you are here but for the grace of God and to make the most of every moment that you have been gifted... HAWK TUAH!!
Graveyard train is probably the best live band Ive ever seen. Holly crappola! I have not seen them in years, have no idea if they are still active, but if they are, go and see them.
the air on the stage is burning our lungs, and we're all going deaf from the beating drums, and you can't see a thing for all the blood and sweat in our eyes, but we play it until we die., and now we are dead, but the man says we gotta get up there again, and you cant come down until the brimstone turns to ice.
So my interpretation of this is they are all dead but they're stuck in a limbo or being dead in itself is its own hell as you don't feel like you belong anywhere. The little girl is a new spirit who died recently, unlike the rest though she is full of life full of energy but the rest can't feel it anymore, either because they can't or they just don't want too. In the end she begins to understand and she herself is unsure, just like every other who has walked in they just sit and do nothing or wait. Its weird, some say Death is the next big adventure but here its like a waiting room, waiting for that faithful day you can stop.
To me, this song is about depression. How you aren't alone, yet feel alone. How you can't hear nothing at all. In your own little hell. Just a zombie repeating the same stuff day in and day out. That little girl was discovering what it was and found out that you can't beat it, no matter how much you fight it it will always be there. She just discovered darkness and entered the void.
Ito me, it's painting the picture of that stage in hell were Beelzebub and his subordinates managing, turning that crowd around on that stage, the place where everyone's fell and must board the ship to cross the sea of fire into hell. It's easy to imagine how that area would be constant, absolute chaos, unimaginable deafening drums, can't hear nothin, nothin at all. Crowds constant fist fights and can't see nothing for all the blood and sweat in the eyes..
Fuckin awesome, oldschool, original, and awesome material/music..... only country band i've fully gotten into shy of the odd song, top stuff boys keep it up... wish more bands/artists would do stuff like this with meaning behind it ! soul and meaning has been missing in music for way to long,,,, this has soul@!
5 years ago is a very long time ago) I’ll tell you a story. I once worked as a system administrator and was told to set up audio equipment. I was just listening to this song and sort of setting up the equipment. thanks to the artist)
The people in the crowd kind of remind me of my university students here in Helsinki on a typical day. And statistically Finns lead the world in per capita coffee consumption . . .
This song, especially the chorus, reminds me of the puppets on strings dancing for the amusement of others. Sadly, the audience is filled with people equally exsanguinated by lives of public prostitution. The endless dance demands of you each meaningful contribution that you can muster, but has you endlessly pirouette until that very meaning that you could once pull from the stuff of your being becomes flattened, and you hear no music, nothing at all. Ripped apart by the ebb and flow of our infinitely expanding social circles, our inner music, the language which has no words, forgets itself. I feel melancholic knowing that a song that has touched me deeply is one where inner pain is so shared that it metastasizes. Perhaps that is the point because resignation can be such a silent thing that only the sight of innocence being led to consider its own mortality can make us pause and take notice. God help the souls of artists, the children of all humanity.

This song is amazing. My husband showed it to me. Greetings from Greece.❤
Playing chains with a hammer is so manly, everyone listening spontaneously grew beards.
Except for the guy playing the chains lol

dark country and southern gothic are good
Not sure I'd label this "Country" 🤔 Idk.
Same goes for folk punk, but hey, that is also nice.

why is this awesome song not on Spotify?
I just had the exact same question. Awesome song
not on instagram too
Because it’s creepy.
I like this music
you can't even tag the song on Shazam
Dear god.
That guy is playing a length of chain, using a hammer.
Seth Lakeman - Blacksmith's Prayer also has a similar gimmick.
And it's awesome
Very reminiscent of the chains of sin that hold us down...without the grace of Jesus
Or the slave labor with chains and hammers that built the railroads after the civil war, makes me wanna watch Hell on Wheels...
Damn I just felt my face and your right!
It's finally on Spotify after years of waiting, my western-goth playlist is finally complete! 🥳🥳🥳
The symbolism in this video rules..religion..chains...a new soul in hell that believed it was innocent Wow...genius...
They look and play like they've been playing their whole lives. This is an amazing piece.
Hail. Graveyard Train . Ressurection 2020.
yet they aren't active. no album in 7 years.
When she started dancing, it was like a ray of light in this old heart of darkness. I'm speechless.... Epic !
Beautifully conceived this! Music is great, visuals make you think. In the middle of all the death, a beautiful little angel dances.

One of my all-time favorite songs/music videos.
Guess what, I'm in a band.
Really, what instrument do you play?
The hammer and chain.
To be fair, he also plays the harmonica. ☺️
and also it does make the song sound better :-)
He played those chains and the harmonica at the same time for a bit. So, can you do that?
Jim Tilley oh you too
“C’mon guys!! I wanna be in the band as well! Must be something I can learn to play before tonight’s gig???...”
I think I'm gonna give up the drums and start playing the chain.
The chain was badass lol
Lol
Hauntingly beautiful
Woah. Just watched Wrong Turn 2021, .and couldn't stop thinking of this video clip the whole way through. What a trip.
Such a haunting awesome tune.. and some proper instruments indeed !!!!!
God dammit, the moment that harmonica played after the chorus I started tearing up!
