Long review, I normally don't like long reviews, but this one is packed with info. No time wasted on lame jokes. You have cleared all my doubts. Thanks so much.
Just picked up one of these also for $210 AUD from TED's Cameras. Great review of features, thanks. The instructions don't really explain the coolest feature where you remove the centre piece & can tilt then stop n lock. Can't wait to give this a try out.
Hi Omar, great video, simple and easy to follow, well done. I just had one question - how do you lock the tripod head so that it doesn't flop around when it's in the carrying case?
Once i tilt to right side for vertical shot how do i move the came up and down for proper framing? Doesn t seem like there is any mechanism for it... I tried taking vertical landscape and camera just would not move up or down keep pointing downwards direction.. please help
Just got this tripod today, but photo/panoramic control knob doesn’t seem to do anything to the 360 swivel. Is it supposed to lock, or at least tension the 360 swivel when set to photo?
Just got this tripod today. I wish I could say I'm happy, but the dang quick release button seems to be broken, and I can't even get the plate up off the tripod. After struggling with it all morning, and seeing these videos where it supposedly works perfectly, I'm sending it back.
I have a Canon T5i (700D) and I would like to add a Tamron 150-600mm lens to it. Would you recommend this tripod with this equipment? I do Macro and wildlife plus movies. Thank you :)
I assume you can also put the middle column upside down in the tripod so the camera hangs at the bottom? That way you could get Really close to the ground for extreme macro footage.
Hey Omar, I am looking to buy this tripod. I will be using it basically for pictures, and less for videos. Would you recommend this PH 32 pan head or should I go for SBH 100 ball head combination? Thanx.
I need a multi-angle tripod that's no bigger than 20" so when you mentioned that this tripod stands at 20.5" when closed and folded with head, I immediately checked B&H to make a purchase. However, in their specs this particular tripod folds to 24.75" without a head. Is there a variation on Alta Pro 263AT model? Please help. Thanks.
+Omar Correa I understand. I've been looking for a good tripod with a multi-angle column that's below 18" when folded for travel. What do you recommend?
Hi Omar, I have a question concerning this head. I would like to know if this will be compatible with my Vanguard Alta CA 204AGH. I am able to remove the centre pole from the tripod. I like the function that can be achieved by being able to use the centre pole in the manner of this video. All help appreciated. Thank you.Wanda
Hey Omar! Thanks for the video. I want to shoot over a desk with my Cannon Rebel. Should I purchase just the legs or should I purchase the kit which includes the precise pan and tilt function, the PH-32 three-way panhead which includes a quick release plate and 3 bubble levels? Just the legs are $119 and the kit is $149.
I just bought this tripod (alta pro 263ap) based on your review. I loved how you could remove the neck and place the camera on the end for some really cool shots. My dilemma at the moment though is my camera will not stay in position, it pans either fwd or backwards due to my camera weight (canon 5d) and as for as I can see there is nothing to lock it into place it just turns and turns. I am fully aware of the 2 handles which lock the 2 upper parts of the pan handle very well but the lower part where the pan handle connects to the arm has no locking mechanism...Am I doing something wrong or did I get a defective tripod? please let me know if you have any suggestions.
Omar Correa the 2 handles tighten just fine...its the bottom of the pan handle that connects to the tripod... it rotates without a locking mechanism....the part that has the meter marks
When in Photo mode if you tighten up the handle it locks it up completely. When you turn the knob to Pano, when you tighten the handle, it only locks out the tilting movement but not the rotation movement. So you can still pan left to right even while the tilt of the camera is locked out.
Hi Omar, your information is very helpful. I'm about to buy a tripod (i own a Canon 5D Mark III and the heaviest lens i have is the Canon 70-200 f.2.8 IS II, i also have the Sigma 24-105. Also a battery grip) and i would like to know which one would you recommend both for indoor/studio use and for outdoor use. Say my camera is set with the battery grip and for example the 70-200 lens, would this tripod be ideal? Thanks in advance. Nataniel Brito from Portugal.
+Natty Brito wow thats a lot of weight with the 70-200 and the grip. This tripod can hold 11 pounds which should be fine, but you'll be limited to how creative you can be with it if you want to fully extend the neck like I showed in the video. You do have the option to add weight bags though. If you just plan on using it like a traditional tripod, you should be fine.
The 263 has 3 leg sections, the 264 has 4. The 26 refers to the diameter of the legs, obviously the thickest being the first section. I think the 264 will be slightly smaller when folded down due to having 4 sections.
That's strange, the Vanguard website has the PH-32 listed as Magnesium Alloy, have they completely changed the manufacturing of these in the last 12 months ?
Great review thanks a lot could you please send me a link for ebay uk can not find this kit and I do not want to buy wrong one all the best thanks in advance
I've never used the Manfrotto be free, I still love this tripod and have two that I still use to this day. not familiar with that other model from vanguard.
hamza fakhr The head on that Globetrotter might not be appealing for video. Its good for photo. But panning and titling with good control on a ball head is not very easy.
the reason i post this is... you mention the coolest feature is the laterally tilting neck pivot point.. the AP does not have this, only the AT... your review is very misleading in this regard. Other than that man, i liked your review a lot, truly. peace out.
thanks man, I'm looking for one that will let me get close to the ground, so I'm leaning to the AT, and for a moment I was all excited as there's some better priced APs around. Epically speedy response. Cheers
I owned this tripod. Its not good at all. The tripodlegs is not really stable. It vibrates when there is strong wind blowing. After In used it for 3yrs, he center column cannot lock anymore, something wrong with the center tube. Not for video!
Sorry you had a negative experience with this tripod. I still use this same tripod to this day, 4 years later and still love it. All my video reviews are filmed with this tripod and I have a second one at my job which we also use for videos. I have a fluid head for panning in videos, but for still video shots, its fine.
Long review, I normally don't like long reviews, but this one is packed with info. No time wasted on lame jokes. You have cleared all my doubts. Thanks so much.

I still don't know what the Rapid action knob does. When I use mine it doesn't seem to make any difference. What does it lock and unlock?
What about rotation? Can you "lock it". You could do with 2 handles lock but rotation?

Is there separate lock for pan and tilt?
Thank you so much for this review I have been looking everywhere for a view that shows what this tripod does. You sold me on it :-)
Awesome. Make sure you use the link in the description if you're buying it on Amazon to help support the channel
Omar Correa I would if I was in America but unfortunately I'm in Australia :-/

+He Ka yeah there is a way to do that
thank u very much for the great video ... i have one question.
what is the difference between Vanguard Alta Pro 263AP and 263AT ?
I have no idea. I'm not familiar with those models
ahh ok thank you
AT is without ph32 head
The difference with heads
There is no shakyness at all if you mount spotting scope on it??

+russ4j Hmm I may have made a mistake when mentioning the specs. The tripod without the head is the 263AP and thats still not 20.5"
+Omar Correa I understand. I've been looking for a good tripod with a multi-angle column that's below 18" when folded for travel. What do you recommend?
+russ4j I'm not familiar with any tripods that small with multi angle columns.
+Omar Correa Too bad. Thanks anyway.
Thanks for your efforts mahn!! Great review!
Happy to help

Update your title, this is the 263AT not AP. Thanks.

+keldr777 get the kit. You'll have a more flexible setup
ok thank you
What was that green thing on the top with some liquid inside it?
bubble level
Omar Correa hey... Can i use this for holding my mobile?
you an use any tripod for doing that, but you'll need a phone holder with tripod mount on it to do that
Is there the capability to lock the head in the panorama mode when you get the position you want?
Thnaks
+pbpdrexel yes you just have to tighten the handle extra tight
hey man! nice vidz, can u make a review of the vanguard abeo pro 283 or the 284 version cant decide which one to buy the alta pro or the abeo pro?
I just bought this tripod (alta pro 263ap) based on your review. I loved how you could remove the neck and place the camera on the end for some really cool shots. Avion TheCeo That sounds like a defect. You should be able to tighten the two handles all the way and it should stay in place
Omar Correa the 2 handles tighten just fine...its the bottom of the pan handle that connects to the tripod... it rotates without a locking mechanism....the part that has the meter marks
Avion TheCeo Like the neck is spinning loosely? Theres two knobs and one of them should control that spinning. Is that it?
Omar Correa I figured it out man but thanks for all your help
Avion TheCeo what was it? Don't tell me it was the pan knob
Hi What is the side button thing "photopanorama" circle thing for?
When in Photo mode if you tighten up the handle it locks it up completely. When you turn the knob to Pano, when you tighten the handle, it only locks out the tilting movement but not the rotation movement. So you can still pan left to right even while the tilt of the camera is locked out.
Hi Omar when in photo mode, it still moves, I'm able to do rotation movement. It's not completely locked. It moves slowly
Do you have the handle super tight?
Omar Correa I didn't!! Thank you very much! I thought there was something wrong with my brand new tripod!
👍 hope you subscribed
What are the cons of this product?
Hi Omar, your information is very helpful. I'm about to buy a tripod (i own a Canon 5D Mark III and the heaviest lens i have is the Canon 70-200 f.2.8 IS II, i also have the Sigma 24-105. Great video, very informative
Hi, how i can get the Link?
Thanks
Link in description
great video and informative. do the legs slip? the 264 has issues with the legs collapsing and not locking
+Lego Speed Guy I have two of these and one of them needed to be tightened. But it's good now
thanks! not sure if i want the 264 or 263. any real differences?
I dont know the differences
The 263 has 3 leg sections, the 264 has 4. The 26 refers to the diameter of the legs, obviously the thickest being the first section. I think the 264 will be slightly smaller when folded down due to having 4 sections.
Nice review Omar - one query, is the head alloy or plastic? Thx.
+2Niels Its plastic, but it's solid and feels high quality, not cheap. I still use this tripod for all my videos.
That's strange, the Vanguard website has the PH-32 listed as Magnesium Alloy, have they completely changed the manufacturing of these in the last 12 months ?
Can I change it's head to ball head easily?
Yes
Great review thanks a lot could you please send me a link for ebay uk can not find this kit and I do not want to buy wrong one all the best thanks in advance

I have 3 questions
How is this tripod compared to manfrotto be free ?

@@rounak301 Yep, no issues
@@omarcorrea thanks man
@@rounak301 👍
Great tripod for the money. Love mine.
Yoo omar what's up !!!!! Nice review. But I'd like u to review "mefoto globetrotter" best tripod ever !!!!!!!
hamza fakhr The head on that Globetrotter might not be appealing for video. Its good for photo. But panning and titling with good control on a ball head is not very easy.
How is it after 5 years of use ?
I own two, and still use them today
Muy buen video!
gracias
Can you add an iphone onto this?
+Hayley Webb if you have a phone mount with a tripod thread on it
Hey Omar,
TITLE is 263AP... but end of vid you show 263AT on the leg...
That's not too cool.
the reason i post this is... you mention the coolest feature is the laterally tilting neck pivot point.. the AP does not have this, only the AT... your review is very misleading in this regard.
Other than that man, i liked your review a lot, truly. peace out.
+James W Thanks for catching that. Was not meant to mislead, just purely a typo. Title of video is correct now. Thank you for watching
thanks man, I'm looking for one that will let me get close to the ground, so I'm leaning to the AT, and for a moment I was all excited as there's some better priced APs around.
