I'm a huge fan of the clamp style locking feature, its a deal breaker for me. It's nice its a quarter turn instead of multiple turns. I bought a fancy gitzo and it had multiple turn legs and it was super cumbersom to set up. I had buyers remorse shortly after I bought it because it just couldn't get into the postions my older Vanguard Alta Pro could. Plus with all of the hiking I do, I've had multiple parts come loose and fall off the gitzo. Pretty sad seeing how I never had those issues with the Vanguard. Higjhly recommend.
I own the older model .. Great tripod .. The lock on one leg no longer locks and is frustrating as the leg slides out from its position and does not stay in place ... Time maybe to upgrade .. At the time that I purchased it , 8 years ago , it was 250.00 tax included ..
I ordered the older model on Amazon, for $103.26. I got the second to last one left, should be getting it soon, along with the other photo swag I ordered.
I have the older version. You're not recommending it but I would not upgrade. The button is no big deal. However, I don't like tripods that are the turn type for locking the legs. Much rather have the flip kind. Though on the 263AT, you have to tighten the clamps occasionally or the legs will slowly give out. Would be good to know the weight of the new one (I can look it up). Would also be good to see it in action: does it give when you put heavy cameras on it, etc...
Uh.... Alta Pro is not an "older" version of Alta Pro2+. Alta Pro2 is an older version of Alta Pro 2+. This vid kinda makes no sense. But thanks anyway. I clicked the like button.
When you actually do the calculations its not $30 more, its $179. If you have the older version, as I do, the Alta Pro 264AT, its not worth buying a new tripod. I can do the center post switch to the side with my eyes closed. Is it worth upgrade? To me, not, I love my 264

I have the old Alta Pro 263AT using the Manfrotto 701HDV swivel head. Both are great.

I like the clamps better than twist locks

Went and bought pro2+ on your review, thanks.
Nice!

Jeff McKeown yeah this is a good video but once he said twist type I thought “pass” 😂 Other improvements are good though
Thanks for the insight and feedback Jeff!
Me personally I don't like the twisty but prefer the latches. Do they make the new model with the latches ?
The older one on right side of screen looks taller and legs a little thicker, are the dimensions the same?
Why does no one talk about pro2?? Everywhere it’s either pro or pro2+
Can you remove the center column completely and go flat on the ground (asking from bird photography standpoint). Thanks.
Yes you can! You can either remove it completely or use it with the articulating head.
What’s difference between alta pro 2 and alta pro 2+
Thanks
What are the improvements with the ball head, by the way?

Do you recommend this tripod for landscape photographers???
Thanks for the review. Question...does the new one also have a hook under the centre piece to add/hang more weight ?
Good question. Unfortunately, there is not a hook. I'm sure you could rig something if needed. Thanks. Hunt's Photo & Video.

He's referring to whether or not to get the new version or the old version. the difference is $30...duh lol
They are not $114.
Nice ...but would rather have clip locks.....safer !!
Hi is the Pro 2+ 263AT better over the Pro 2+ 264AT ?
just depends if you want 3 sections or 4 sections.
To bad the manfrotto does not articulate like the vangaurd
