Definitely one of the more imaginative fanvids of the last few years. So many of them recently are aping the revival series, with a present-day Earth setting and featuring a newly regenerated Doctor having just crashed in a damaged TARDIS. THIS is what Doctor Who is: spaceship adrift, lots of dead bodies around, and a Big Terrifying Unknown behind it all, and the Doctor and his friend just happen to stumble into the middle of it.
... This is the kind of thing Classic Era fans want. The numerous other fan productions on UA-cam do tend to follow the new era teachings but this is a refreshing kick of nostalgia!
What a delightful discovery, time warp tv at its best, looks just right and the Doctor has that playful twinkle, great cast and very fun. If this were a dvd I'd buy it. Look forward to the next episode.
Ronn and Rose make for a good alternative Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane - the latter acts also more mature than the original, so Rose's take is quite interesting. The slower pace compared to NuWho makes the story breath, unfold along mysterious paths, it draws you in and gets you involved, piques one's curiosity, seasoned with an eerie atmosphere that's missed in modern DW, where fanfare and frenetic actions clubs the mind and senses to dead. I certainly will look eagerly forward to the next instalment and any future new stories!
Man... I think this might be the best Doctor Who fan production I've ever seen. Truly feels like I'm watching a remastered lost episode from Tom Baker's second season. This was made with so much clear love of not only this particular era but the show as a whole. And the actors playing 4 and Sarah (and everyone else for that matter) are really solid. Excellent work all around, the only criticism I have is that I want more!
Thank you so much for your kind compliments! Yes, this was definitely a labor of love for the entire crew. To answer your criticism, part 2 is coming! 😀
I really enjoyed this! Successfully captures the vibe of 70s Who. It kept my attention from start to finish. The guy playing Tom is terrific, very convincing. A sparkling performance. Hats off to all involved, can't wait for the next one!
This is a fabulous beginning! Loved the fellow playing the Doctor -- he captures Four's personality so very well. Definitely looking forward to the conclusion, and hopefully more stories!
This gave me Chills, I'm sad it is over. Even if there are no subsequent Episodes, Thank You - it was perfect on all levels, the best Doctor Who I have seen in years.
This is the era of Dr. Who I love and remember most fondly! I love what you guys have done this is great work! Be very proud of yourselves! You've done that era proud Capturing the feel and pacing of his shows. I much prefer this to todays Dr.!
It's here! Nice. I remember first hearing about this at ReGeneration Who like eight years ago. The flyer was up in my childhood bedroom 'til very recently. Excellent work!
Hay Guys - I loved this - Ronn Smith is fantastic as the 4th Doctor and this was very reminiscent of Tom's first season. Ark in Space and Revenge of the Cybermen. I'll be tuning in for further episodes, there are echoes of Sapphire and Steele in this one. Where nothing is as it seems and there is a malevolent force twisting perceptions and reality. We have spotted like perhaps the Doctor has that neither of them is talking to a real person and because they have the same name the same entity. Loved it so far it sets itself up above and beyond just a run-of-the-mill fan production.
The Doctor is excellent. The acting is generally good . Most fan films with all the best will in the world are let down by bad acting. As a fan since 1963 i can see this is made with love and captures the spirit and feel of the original series in a way i wish the current series would .More please
I remember the crowdfunding campaign - you captured the look and feel of the era so well! Very glad to see your first episode has been released :) Congratulations
no way!!! I can't believe your first episode is finally out!!! I've been keeping an eye on you folks ever since you dropped your first trailer, so excited to see it!!!
Lovely. I've never known of this being in the works before, but it really feels like a great homage to the classic series. Most other fan films rather bore me, but this kept my attention well enough! Good luck on any sequels in the future!
Just watched it; a lovely effort! The script is quite a traditionalist Season 12 pastiche, which is not quite my thing in general, but it's a very competent execution of that brief, in particular in that it doesn't fee like an ersatz of any *specific* classic story. Compelling mystery and atmosphere, and I like the exploration of the Four/Sarah dynamic (though I think you repeated the "coming from the…" quip one time too many; the banter is where you might stand to punch the script up a bit, if I had to criticise one thing). Besides that the main strength is certainly in the production; this doesn't feel like it has noticeably less of a budget than an actual 1970s episode, in terms of the set and so on, for a start. Nice range of props, costumes, sets. Very impressive. And the big attraction is of course that it stars the Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane, not an arbitrary OC Doctor and companion; and this I think you carry it off very well ndeed. It's precisely the kind of recast I often advocate, in contrast to Big Finish's occasional over-reliance on "impressions" - neither of the performers are trying to sound *like* Baker and Sladen, they're just playing the characters to the hilt, and both are quite good at emulating the physicality of the Fourth Doctor and Sarah despite not actually looking or sounding like them. By god, if all fanfilms could have a baseline this good… and the two guest characters are very well performed indeed, the woman in the computer room particularly believable. Also appreciate the attention to the blocking, camera angles, etc. in the direction - it's unshowy but it's competent, and lots of amateur fanfilms don't clear that bar. If I had one visual criticism, it's that it's almost distracting that with everything else, this is framed in 6:9 rather than 4:3, haha.
Thank you so much for those kind words about our project! Actually, we had debated about shooting in 4:3 but decided to go 16:9. 😄 If we ever do another story, we may go with out first intention and go the 4:3 way!
Congratulations. I just finished watching. Your first episode (of hopefully many more) captured the essence and feel of 1970s Doctor Who when Tom Baker was the fourth Doctor. I felt like I had popped back to that time in my very own TARDIS. As someone who has been a fan of Doctor Who since the 1960s and had the opportunity to act in a fan produced audio drama going on 14 years ago, I really appreciate work the pays homage, and brings accolades to, classic Who. Well done! Looking forward to more from you.
First episode and your succeeding at scaring the erbt hernieder out of me until 😅-GUY PLAYNG DR 4(Baker) is DOING AN EXCELLENT JOB,I’m working on Sarah but the acting is good-one would think, being a Time Lord-You would know you ARE ON A GIANT SPACE SHIP-,Creepy as it is👀
I'm so happy that your group was finally able to get this project off the ground. I just went again down the rabbit hole of looking for new DW fan films and stubbled across this first episode. I remember when your group first started trying to crowd fund and I saw your sample trailer and was really impressed with how well you got the Phillip Hinchcliffe era with Ronn's great embodiment of the essence of Tom's performance and I agree that Rose's more mature take on Sarah is refreshing. This story is definitely in the spirit of early Tom Baker stories with Sarah Jane...aka season 12 or 13. This story is unfolding at the perfect slow methodical pace of the period and it is setting up the spookiness of the first part of Ark in Space. I liked how Classic DW unfolded at a realistic pace where we, the audience, can try to figure out what is going on along with the protagonists. Loving this trip down memory lane. I feel like I'm back in the middle 70s again watching Tom and Liz on PBS. Ready for part 2!
I haven't left a comment for any video for a long time. But after watching this I had to leave a comment. This episode of Doctor Who was absolutely amazing. Very good job. Thank you.
This very good recreation of Tom Baker era Doctor Who. The costumes, Sets, and even music spot on target. The actor plays Baket impressive mannerisms and voice. However, Sarah Jane never the heavy or older.
Alright where did yall get your own timeship to go back in time and make this? Seriously, all i can do is echo everyone elses praises of how well you recaptured the look and feel of classic who! Honestly all i gotta add is that RTD and the BBC should take notes- but for the sake of this series continuation i hope they never find out, and should the event that they do- that they are nothing but gracious!
Just stumbled across this on UA-cam. You managed to capture the feel of Classic Hinchcliffe era Who. Four and Sarah were portrayed beautifully! Chef's kiss! Hopefully this is the first of many to come. Bravo!!
I have never seen a Dr Who fan film that I thought was good until now. Brilliant, you both were channelling Tom Baker and Elisabeth Sladen and captured the spirit of the era so well. It is so gratifying to find a good Dr Who story and I hope the BBC and Disney take note of your work as an example of what the show is all about. I hope you are able to make lots more episodes.
The performances are really good. I like how you've decided to recreate the look and feel of the early Tom Baker stories. This definitely sets the vibe of early Tom Baker. The sets are good too. The only thing I'd say is that the TARDIS looks too clean and the lighting is too dark. Very impressive.
Very much enjoyed this. From certain angles, I could really see the actor resemblances to Tom and Liz. ☺️ from an 🇺🇸 fan, of over 55 years. Thank you for making this.
... Brilliant! Definite 70s vibes of Ark In Space/Revenge of the Cybermen coming through. Ronn Smith should be signed up by Big Finish to provide the voice of The 4th Doctor. Any news on the continuation of the story? I would love to see how it plays out! 👍👏👏👏👏👏
Apt that the Star Trek fan vids, particularly new voyages can in places look higher quality than ST TOS, but this manages to mirror that in a bizzare way and look even cheaper than 77 BBC who
loved it, hope you'll find the inspiration to create the next episode... curious to see where this goes with the time distortions and the mindbombs that have affected the crew...
As soon as I saw the opening time tunnel sequence that threw me back to my childhood I knew I was in for a treat this is absolutely excellent and 100 x better than the trash we've been given this year by the BBC and Disney so thank you for this !!

It's coming. I promise. Going through final post-production. Being all-volunteer, means things take longer than we'd like, but will hopefully be worth the wait.
I like the slow pace and story, I just don't see why you would pretend to be Tom Baker and Liz Sladen. That's always going to be ridiculous. Just be an unknown incarnation and companion. Would be a lot better.
Thanks for your feedback! Actually, we did ponder doing an unknown Doctor/companion team but went for the nostalgia. We're glad that you did like the pace and the story.

When does this take place in the fourth Doctors timeline?
Anywhere you think it works. 🙂

Is there no part 2
It's coming. I promise. Going through final post-production. Being all-volunteer, means things take longer than we'd like, but will hopefully be worth the wait.

I like the slow pace and story, I just don't see why you would pretend to be Tom Baker and Liz Sladen. That's always going to be ridiculous. Just be an unknown incarnation and companion. Would be a lot better.
Thanks for your feedback! Actually, we did ponder doing an unknown Doctor/companion team but went for the nostalgia. We're glad that you did like the pace and the story.
Is dr who a gay program now 🤔
Anyone watch that dreadful woke show tonight…. Absolute dross.
Holy crap... its a sad state of affairs when a fan film is better than anything the BBC have produced in nearly a decade
