@Parker McCuistion stick 4th or third through the door and kind of turn into the door instead of straight marching in, it might slow you down a hair and you'll have to catch back up but you wont miss anything if you can do it. im the only tenor on my line and both of ours are tenor cadences
In high school I remember band being a big thing for our school. We were a fairly large band, lowest being just under 100. We also went to many events and because the football team was really good (at least the years I went) so we were performing at games through December. The football team was also appreciative and came into band at the beginning of every year and thanked us, and practically invited us everywhere they played. I was fortunate to be at a school that really appreciated the band and it made it really fun.
Gordon Freeman when i was in drumline at my hs, we'd slowly build up speed hitting our drums right before the kickoff and when the ball was in the air, the band would play wild and loud. Pretty epic moments lol
I don't care what anyone says, the walk out with the tenors set the mood for the whole game. If y'all played well, we matched. If y'all didn't, we didn't.
I luv football season cause of everything band playing sick songs people cheering and yelling the big lights especially when your on the field it feels like you could do anything
Standing in the middle of the field at half time, your friends in the stands yelling for you, the cool misty air on your face, feeling nervous yet so excited. Greatest feeling in the world!
@@thesupernova1623 they're called tenors or quads. They're not a drum set but they're basically just different sized toms without a resonant head and are tuned really high. Also there's a cowbell but this is one of the first schools I've seen use a cow bell on a set of tenors.
the football players don't hate the band.... if I was one of those players I would be so jacked I might kill somebody the first play!!! the band gets me pumped!!!
My schools football team thinks every other student exists just to cheer them on. And our schools football team isn't even that good. Mean while the drum line got first in the state championships in the second highest class. But no one cared
Brian duncan my football team has become like that. Two years ago we had a different coach than we do now. The new coach has encouraged the football players and band to get along better and he thinks that the band is one of the greatest things. We cheer each other on during games and they did something really special for us when we went to playoffs which was incredibly unexpected.
Like, after every game he gives a speech and he thanks everyone and he thanks the band for our hard work and the football players cheer and it’s just really nice
That's how a football team should be lead out. Big band in the lead with a booming drumline marching them out. Make a spectacle of it! Have a quiet cadence that builds up as they approach the field. When they get to the stadium, have the band run out into formation and play some loud song that gets the team hyped up! Guarantee that will boost morale for the football players and give the band more of a supporting role.
the drumline at my school has been doing this for as long as i can remember, we march our football team out to our cadence and then we join the rest of the band who marches around the track to play an absolutely sick parade sequence and everyone is so into it, lots of times we'll even see people in the other teams stands vibing along with it
Our last few games of the season, we strapped a gopro to our center snare for halftime, played the footage when we got back to the bandroom, sometimes being there until well after midnight. It was great and we'll miss you as your genius self (I know, a smart drummer, weird but he's a genius) goes off to college and forgets about your tiny hometown school.
I loved playing drum line, loved doing the parades in my hometown of 13,000. My favorite times about doing it was we would march/play from my high school to the football stadium which was about 3/4 of a mile and play all of our battle songs.
My sophomore year of high school was full of an entire hatred between band members and football players and I didnt understand it nor enjoy it. My senior year everyone grew up and got over themselves and there was just a good connection with football and band. There's game that'd be close and we'd be losing. And our band would play and even the football players start to dance and we eventually win. Marching band is supposed to be a way of using a tool you have to show your appreciation and support to something you love. That being music and school spirit.
This was never a thing when I was in high school. I always had football players come up to us and tap us on the shoulder after games and give us attaboys for pumping them up during games.
When I played in high school our drumline and brass section would lead us out of the field house. It was epic, I'll try and set the scene as best as I can. We had a colosseum stadium with one end being the entrance and the other end was where our field house was. Well from the field house to the field was about 50 yards down a slight hill. We would out double doors that actually didn't have a bar in the middle so the tenors loved that. The drumline and brass section would walk out first playing a different song each night the football team would then follow behind with helmet on. It was a slow March but the longer we took the more hype we got.

i didnt get picked for drums in 5th grade so i decided i would learn the drums and at the scool talent show i played a solo as a middle finger to the band teacher
Who ever says the football team hates the band is horribly wrong. Even in professional football, the team loves the band. The band is there to pump up everyone and get everyone excited. They play for their team, and as a comment before said. The team plays for them.
