The 4WD 995 would have been nice here in SE QLD during the last 6 months of non stop rain. Luckily the diff lock just saved it several times from being parked up belly deep in the mud for weeks.
Great idea! Next time i ask the wife if we can get a mini digger to dig culverts, I'll show her this! Hopefully it won't be 'ooh, but we live in a 12th floor apartment' all over again.
Your son the supervisor needs a clipboard to make it official. Crisscross the branches/ trees below to slow down the water erosion. Your new excavator earned its keep. 👍🏻🥝
Nice job Marty! I was knocked out by your son's little Suzuki quad. He was in heaven, following along and hanging with his dad. Those were the best days of my life. Treasure everyone Marty. They go to darn fast.
Once again Marty, a very enjoyable video. I really enjoyed the start when your son followed you in his little quad bike and you talked to him about the job. I have 2 sons, both now grown but when they were young I always tried to get them involved in anything I was doing, even if it was just scoring a line along a straight edge in preparation for cutting a piece of wood. They were always willing to help.
I had the pleasure of living next door to an old gentleman who while retired, would make wooden toys and children’s table and chair sets for charity. My eldest son who was only 2-3 years old would go over the neighbour’s house when he was making the toys and tables. This gentleman loved my son. He would actually give him little jobs he was capable of doing. He was so very patient and my son loved every minute of it. A very fond memory from my eldest son’s childhood.
Brilliant little machine! Great work. You are so lucky to have a neighbor like Kendal too - even if you're paying him, having a good relationship with your neighbormakes property ownership so a so much more enjoyable experience. I bet he's taught you a trick or to as well.
You make the best videos of anybody. I do not believe that there is anything more enjoyable to watch than when you, son, and dog tackle a job. I know you are proud of your son. I wish you made a video every week. I know that effort involves valuable time on your part to do but to me me it is therapy…I am 83 and fighting the big C.
From my experience, extra nice pipe for a culvert. The TB217R made that job look easy. Where I live that job would have taken 20 workers, 10 machines, 3 weeks, after the permitting taking an additional 3 years with a Civil Engineer's sign off on the "plans" and a formal 500 page environmental impact study (may or may not be an exaggeration).
So Cool, Father & Son. Best memories were working with dad. Self sufficiency is priceless. As time goes on kids find their own path, while different than ours they will come back around - at this point he will be grateful to call you dad.
Great job Marty, that machine is amazing, so incredibly versatile, especially in a small area like that. Love the dog, all that extra green energy and not a woof of complaint. And nice to see the supervisor taking a real interest. Great video and thanks for sharing.
Every time I watch one of your vids I wish I could live in an area like you do. Self reliance being a necessity but what you can't do alone you have good salt of the earth neighbors to help each other. Truly inspiring work. Your son will be a tradesman by time he's 12.
Glad to see the Takeuchi excavator upholding the reputation of their skid steer. We used the skid steer at work and it was quite impressive. Great video showcasing this little guy.
Great to see you working with your new, and very useful, digger. That pick really helped get through the bigger base rock. That'll keep that road in nice shape. Thanks for posting the video, nice to see your son along for the fun! We look forward to, and truly enjoy, each and every one of your clips.
Hey Marty, awesome job and video! You should contact Takeuchi so they can share this video as promotional material. Watching this, I want one!! About 13 years ago, I picked up an old Bobcat skid steer for what it would have cost me to have a job done. Some of the best money I ever spent. In that same vein, I need to seriously look for a mini excavator.
Very Impressed with your new Toy Mr.Marty T, so jeolous here in Maine, lol . Great job you & your neighbor did, it is important to have good neighbors. Stay safe.
Second all the comments on seeing it when it rains. Love seeing jobs being done with the things you salvage / buy. From wood sawing to culvert installs. Thanks.
There was serious erosion at the road edge onto the slope. Seems you've addressed the issue with a solid fix. Someday you son will be at the controls of mini excavator. 👍👍👍
It won't be long by the look of the young bloke. He's growing like a weed, and keen to be involved 👍. I guarantee he is regularly sitting on the machines, playing with the controls he can reach. He'll be hassling Marty before too long to let him have a go for real. And Marty will let him (somewhere a bit less critical than this), like a good dad should.
Mind that back Marty! I thought you had done it when you paused about the rock fall. Phew! Been there. Nice work and nice quad for the lad. A good father and son outing. 😊
Marty that Takeuchi is a great machine. I wanted one but ended up with a Yanmar Vi055 because none were available. But I did get a Takeuchi TL12V2 track loader that makes me wish I’d gotten the excavator too. Great machines. Your channel is great and you are terrific with your kids.
If this was an episode of Clarkon's farm there would be a 3 year legal battle with the council and multiple long term studies for impact on invasive crawfish.
Any good road construction worker will tell you that static observation is a critical part of the process. Smoking used to be part of that process but we've moved on from there
Just give it a few more years and the little fella will be right in there , alongside marty . up to the eyes in muck and grease , he has an excellent teacher of all information and knowledge in his father . which I'm sure will be passed on through the family . for sure the little fella will be taught all the tricks and solutions of all things he will need to know and more . one amazing family for sure . . 👏👏👏 😉
Great job Marty. In the US, it would have taken a road crew days to complete that, because as you said, 7 guys would have been there, but only 1 of them would have been working. I guess that's not just an American thing 🙂
Nice work, Marty! I hope you won't have a big deluge anytime soon but you look to be better prepared for it when it comes. Best wishes to you and the family!
So far today, I've watched a man cooking, another man tear down an engine, and Marty building a culvert. I'm worn out now, if I wasn't sitting down in an arm chair already, I'd need a good sit down.
Project for a future video - putting electric start on your son's quad. Poor little guy isn't big enough to yank the pull start so make it easy on him. He'll enjoy turning a key and taking off. Many years from now he will still be talking about how you improved the quad for him. 😊
Careful with using the side slide on these machines. The hydraulics cool down pretty quick. That can cause havoc with the valves. Best to go hell for leather and keep them warm. When you get the cold HF in the pump it really strains it. Sometimes they can even lock the ignition. Handy hint: Always check for that bastard of a stone that is keeping the side swipe depressed.
For it's size that wee taco did a great job digging that trench bro although the spike sure came in handy too. All n all a great job done to keep water from crossing the road during heavy rain. Safe travels. Ken.
Hello Marty. With that excavator swing arm, you almost have an articulating bucket. When you said you would put some aluminum down, I thought you meant farther down. With this placement, it will carry the water father out to, hopefully, prevent the bank from eroding. Have good days!
It might be worth it to look into a hydraulic thumb for that little excavator if it has enough oomph to run one . Guys that have them love em and tend to put one on all their new stuff going forward . Great for picking rocks , logs , brush , other miscellaneous items . Seems like it'd be a good fit for you .
LOL - -the mention of Fulton Hogan. I work for our Timaru branch., been there for almost 20 years. Not long ago, we were able to do it just like you did. BUT - - -Traffic management has absolutely killed the ability to get anything done in a day. Honest opinion - - -every roading maintenance company in NZ needs to collectively push back hard on TM. Nice fix I think better to control the water and get if off the road surface. Good to see the dog and your son nice to have the neighbor come and help.
That's a great little machine , is that another one to your collection , how many do you have now at the last count , keep saving them Marty your doing an excellent job . . great way to take the dog for a walk by the way . and to see the little fella tagging along with his father surveying the land . well done little fella . . excellent stuff .
Only 7? At least 10, 9 of which would be lazy fat bstds just standing around watching and smoking. Marty just fkn gets on with it. No high vis or safety BS - he doesn't need to be seen from the moon.
Good Job there mate, Loved the dog pulling you along, all supervised by the young feller of course. It reminded me of my early teenage years in Rockhampton, QLD, Taking the dog down the hill to the shop, then sending him home, when it was uphill all the way. Attached to the dragster pushbike at the time of course.. O.o Hi to Jeanine and the kids, take care, stay safe.
Great job. Some neighborly help. Small tractor beginning to pay for itself. For the once or twice annual major downpour, would the inlet side need more rocks in the catchment area to prevent soil erosion? The hillside slope is quite steep. Especially with debris, landslides, rocks & mud, volume of water.
I learned a great trick for starting the chain saw/2 stroke anything 4 stroke etc. This is really good for kids, pull the cord all the way out and let go, that will normally start the machine and I beleive it is the recommendedmeathod for starting chainsaws.... it also stops you jerking the machine towards you and less stress on the starting mechanism.
Awesome Job Marty I always look forward to your Videos Informative and interesting excellent use of the little digger well done mate see you on the next Video
Impressed by the dog’s strength towing the four wheeler and trailer at the beginning
Either your deaf and almost blind or this is a joke
😂
I also thought he had given up on the EV Quad and resorted to dog power.
Dogs a monster
those bull terriers are workers
Now you can safely bring home more David Brown tractors rain or shine. Brilliant.
I asked the same!! But guess what!!? Nooo. 😂. I ll keep trying.
Tell her a mini digger will fit in the elevator so you don't have to drive it up and down the stairs.
Next time, tell her it's a hydraulic teaspoon for use in the kitchen.
Outstanding !
lol. They just can’t see the bug picture.
You Realise your son is going to be a really good tradesman!
Just by hanging round and helping you all the time.
Love the dog too
Great Vid Marty
Having good neighbours is ever so important.
Your son the supervisor needs a clipboard to make it official. Crisscross the branches/ trees below to slow down the water erosion.
Your new excavator earned its keep. 👍🏻🥝
The helper at the beginning.
Those little trips and memories are going to stick with him forever!!
Nice job Marty! I was knocked out by your son's little Suzuki quad. He was in heaven, following along and hanging with his dad. Those were the best days of my life. Treasure everyone Marty. They go to darn fast.
I absolutely love that you take it upon yourself, your family, your equipment, knowledge and funds to protect from floods etc.! thank you!👍🇺🇸🙏
Once again Marty, a very enjoyable video. I really enjoyed the start when your son followed you in his little quad bike and you talked to him about the job. Some of my fondest memories are of me helping my dad doing work around the property. I'd be willing to bet your kids would say the same.
I had the pleasure of living next door to an old gentleman who while retired, would make wooden toys and children’s table and chair sets for charity. These father & son moments bring back a lot of pleasant memories for me 😁

would love to see it flowing when the rains come
Well thought out design , i really enjoyed your child / son in the progress of negotiations with mother nature.
That is a good bit of kit: You got yourself a businessman too. Under age but useful. All good, cheers.
Glad to see the Takeuchi excavator upholding the reputation of their skid steer. We used the skid steer at work and it was quite impressive. Great video showcasing this little guy.
Thanks for sharing. Wow! Your son is growing so fast. It’s so cool seeing him with his own quad.

Love these kinds of episodes. So interesting to see the repair after that crazy flooding.
that new machine is worth itsweight in Gold Marty. another great job well done as usual even the Family helped lol

The backhoe swing made it the ideal tool. With the Hitachi you would have to do it all from the side. Real pain in confined areas like that.
Woah that little machine is awesome! The tilty thing with the boom made it so you can practically dig around a 90 degree corner!
Second all the comments on seeing it when it rains. Love seeing jobs being done with the things you salvage / buy. From wood sawing to culvert installs. Thanks.
Another nice work together with the Family and neighbor. Congratulations.
Nice work on the culvert. I'm sure it was an all day job but it was well worth the time. You'll know how well it works out soon enough.
Marty, great to have the little guy! Learning, and following you!!!
There was serious erosion at the road edge onto the slope. Seems you've addressed the issue with a solid fix. Someday you son will be at the controls of mini excavator. 👍👍👍

Nice to see back hope you and your family and friends are all doing well mate thanks again for sharing your video.
Nice work Marty! Let us see it working next rain storm, Thanks from the USA
I'll do a follow-up
Terrific machine, very impressive. The ability to side trench without making the ditch too wide. Great addition to the fleet.☮️
That's a little beast of an excavator.
My old Hitachi ex75 has an articulated boom, that really helps when digging up close.
Congrats Marty T, on digging-out the dirt and stones to make way of the Culvert Pipe. looks great afterwards..
Always good to see you Marty glad you are pleased with the new purchase mate I would be struggling to think of anyone more deserving than you.
The little "mini" excavators are really handy for small jobs. Especially in close quarters!! Looks like you did a really good job!!
Great to see that you involve you're children that's a lifetime of memories
If this was an episode of Clarkon's farm there would be a 3 year legal battle with the council and multiple long term studies for impact on invasive crawfish.
Cool digger Marty.
Glad you're putting the new machine to use. Looks like a great tool.
I don't currently have any culverts I need to install, but sure could put a mini to work around the homestead for a good while.
Handy addition to the equipment Marty,it did a great job. Thanks for the video.👍👍
I think I am nearly as happy to see you get a brand new machine as you are to have it!
Great seeing you and your son plus the mini-x kick butt
Looks good. On the next big rainfall you will have to do a small follow up video to show the drainage in action.
Yes I'll do that
Proper job, looking forward to the first footage after it had rained.
Great to see the Boss out with you!
Any good road construction worker will tell you that static observation is a critical part of the process.
Smoking used to be part of that process but we've moved on from there
Excellent job Marty, well done!!! Thanks for sharing.
You are a wizard on the diggers Marty!
I clicked on the video so fast when I saw it was by Marty T. 😂
For a second there I thought it was your boy cutting down those trees while you were trenching! 😂👍
For a few moments I was thinking the opposite !
Just give it a few more years and the little fella will be right in there , alongside marty . up to the eyes in muck and grease , he has an excellent teacher of all information and knowledge in his father . which I'm sure will be passed on through the family . for sure the little fella will be taught all the tricks and solutions of all things he will need to know and more . one amazing family for sure . . 👏👏👏 😉
Your son gets to make actual use of his off road machine for travel , not just putting around the compound , totally cool !
It doesn't seem he should be old enough already to drive that thing. Time surely flies by!!
Great job Marty. In the US, it would have taken a road crew days to complete that, because as you said, 7 guys would have been there, but only 1 of them would have been working. I guess that's not just an American thing 🙂
The little dude sure has himself a sweet set of wheels there. :)
Nice work, Marty! I hope you won't have a big deluge anytime soon but you look to be better prepared for it when it comes. Best wishes to you and the family!

That Takeuchi, if maintained properly, will be by your side for the rest of your life. Most components are bulletproof.
My takeuchi tb015 excavator is at least 25 years old and has 2900 hrs. They are excellent machines.
Hello Marty. With that excavator swing arm, you almost have an articulating bucket. When you said you would put some aluminum down, I thought you meant farther down. With this placement, it will carry the water father out to, hopefully, prevent the bank from eroding. Have good days!

What a maiden voyage ,Marty, came thru with flying colors.
Really surprised that the mini did the job! Great little machine!!
Marty always has a good video to watch! Hope the roads don’t wash like the last big storm
looked well compacted when you finished. Well worth the price of the heavy duty pipe. Cheers

Nice fix I think better to control the water and get if off the road surface. Good to see the dog and your son nice to have the neighbor come and help.
Love the little bike that your son has! Also, this was a cool project. Thanks for sharing!
That's a great little machine , is that another one to your collection , how many do you have now at the last count , keep saving them Marty your doing an excellent job . . great way to take the dog for a walk by the way . and to see the little fella tagging along with his father surveying the land . well done little fella . . excellent stuff .
Hi Marty, see you got the managing director. Keep an eye on you today. Love to see the young fella with you mucking around doing stuff.
Have you practiced a bail out & run from the little digger for when you upset a nest of hornets?
Haha I've got it down to an art
Brilliant work I love the new Jr supervisor through , the best teaching method in the world, all the best from o
It's nice that the blade sticks out that far. I wonder why so many machines put it flush with the cab?
Amazing your analogy of 7 road workers with most standing around seems to be the norm. It’s the same here in the states. Lol
Only 7? At least 10, 9 of which would be lazy fat bstds just standing around watching and smoking. Marty just fkn gets on with it. No high vis or safety BS - he doesn't need to be seen from the moon.
What?! Too easy. I expect you to overcome difficult obstacles and prevail!
Having good friends is so important.

How on earth should that work?
That is an impressive little digger you got there. You can get in so right you can trench right next to a house😲 Awesome job that will flow nicely. 😊
The dealer should give him a lifetime of free service the free advertising
Impressive. Right machine for the right job.
Would like to see how it works out in the next big rain.
Another fantastic job well done. Nice to see your helpers too. That should sort the problem out.
Thanks Marty, great video as always. I learn something every time I watch one of your videos. 😊🇨🇦
Great job Marty, your TA did well too!
Another Great teaching moment for us, thank you for taking us along. An awesome episode, Cheers!! 😁
I’ve never seen a single ripper tooth on a small machine before but I think it was a worthwhile purchase for you 👍🏻🏴
I would have struggled without the ripper
I'm curious about the footage in heavy rain ;) I hope you will be able to capture such moments in the future.
That seemed like a lot of water for that sized pipe. Great looking work though. Yeah, like the digger.
Awesome Job Marty I always look forward to your Videos Informative and interesting excellent use of the little digger well done mate see you on the next Video
