Very happy that you talk about never taking everything of anything as there are so many birds and other critters that depend on the berries, fruits, seaweed etc.
@helle hansen | that was a needed gentle reminder of the (forgotten) ecosystem; that's probably the cause of this existential problem of climate change and exorbitant waste: forgetting that we're apart of a whole (system).
@@happenfilms How much Wakame seaweed powder can I safely consume daily? I powdered 10 tablespoons of Wakame seaweed and mixed with 1.2 oz of Italian Spice herbs. How much should I consume daily?
Thank you for your time, effort and love in contributing to humanity this wonderful source of knowledge. I cannot buy anything unprocessed in the (Asian) supermarket. They've been soaked in canola oil, heat treated, processed msg, sugar and salt is added. This is exactly what people who understand health and environment need. Subscribed and already massive fan!
Great video. I have only ever had my own foraged seaweed as a salad bed for limpets and mussels! This is a great way to utilise this precious food source. Thanks for sharing.
Great Job Kirsten! Milkwood rocks! I hope you guys do a whole series about Nick and Kirsten, they are leading the way in Australia! Thanks @Happen Films! Sharing!
Thanks for video , I'm a city boy with family in Devon by the seaside and love the beach since I was a kid, next time I'm at the beach will look out for some kelp and sea lettuce now I know its edible and tasty and what to do with it. Looks very tasty!
We're trying our best to upload regularly, but to maintain the quality of our films it requires a lot of time and effort and currently there's only two of us working on them. We hope this Hands On series will allow us to upload more frequently though. Thanks for your enthusiasm :)
Great video but sadly I live in Melbourne's burbs and wouldn't trust anything that came out of the bay. I do on odd occasions gather the high tide beached kelp and add it to the compost for the minerals. If I was on the coast away from the city I'd love to give it a try and will next time I'm on a trip so long as I can be sure I'm allowed to collect it where I go.
I live in the Pacific Northwest USA. I'm looking for a comprehensive diet consisting of totally foraged/caught foods that are sustainable and abundant. So, I'd like staples to be sourced from the ocean in the area. I like this recipe, except the sesame seeds, half of the recipe, are not easily had in the Pacific Northwest in or near the ocean. Do you have any specific sources or recipes? Or maybe somebody I could contact? Thanks
I'd love to forage seaweed but I'm not sure if I should trust the water in my area... There are two small rivers nearby and I'm sure they carry all sorts of gross stuff like pesticides into the sea. The area is not officially polluted though... I don't know really. I do eat seafood fished in the area so maybe I'm worrying too much about the seaweed?
We hope you enjoy the first video of the 'Hands On' series! Leave a comment and let us know what you'd like to see covered in future videos.

@@happenfilms hey guy's. What about foraging, selection, safety.
Saw a work shop on it once and was fascinated how much is overlooked or dismissed.
Such a shame corona blocked the way to the continuity of this series! After lockdown I would like to see a video on natural fibers and natural dyes❤️🌈

How do you store the dried seaweed that you are not using, and how long does it last?
Can you harvest from near city's if its for the garden?
Does it have to be dried to be edible?

thank you for the video! just wanted to let you know its pronounced "goh-mah-shee-oh", as its a Japanese word and means 'sesame salt'

How do you make sure there isnt sea lice or bad bacterior on the seaweed thst coupd make your sick?
himalayan salt with all the minerals is your Gatorade, from the Lords table!!
Where are you?
Why do you have to dry it?
It stays good for a long time dried. You can eat it fresh, but it won't last very long. It will turn mushy and start to rot.
Where do you live? There are not many beaches left with clean environment.
I was always told not to collect seaweed of they are not attached !
"It's really close to MSG, but the natural version"
Sorry lady, but MSG IS natural and we get a lot of it from seaweed
