On paper it probably seemed a lot cheesier but he says it with so much intensity and the scene (and past 10 years of his career) builds up to it so well...that line was worth the entire movie lol

HOLY SHIT I was at the 6pm showing at Westwood Village!! I remember at the end of the movie, everyone turned around at looked at the back of the theater for some reason. We couldn't see who was back there so we just sat back down for the end credit scenes that never showed up. That blows my mind that the Russo brothers were there watching the movie with us. The energy of the theater was definitely insane, probably the best theater experience I've ever had. My theatre clapped three times when I saw it about a week ago. When Cap caught the hammer, when Tony said “I... am... Iron Man” and snapped his fingers, and then a third time in between, I can’t remember what it was bc there were so many awesome moments. Also when Black Panther walked out some kid in my theatre yelled “WAKANDA FOREVA” and half of the people there laughed and “aww”ed. I loved this film so much; the action was so good that I was giggling the entire last hour, and I got chills when we finally saw all these heroes together, ready to fight (the way Civil War should’ve gone, but it’s fine, I’m more than happy with Endgame). I don’t cry during movies, but pretty much everything in the last few scenes made me tear up. Thinking about the big picture while watching the end of the story is what got me; comic book movies weren’t that big when Iron Man came out, but they turned into a hit soon afterwards. TV could have never even dreamed of such a huge universe (except for maybe Power Rangers. I mean they were the ones who started the huge crossovers if you think about it🤠), and Marvel did it within 11 years. The passion and dedication that went into all of the movies really shows, and it makes me happy that this is becoming the standard now. I love Marvel for pulling this off, and I can’t wait for everything else that’s to come. I’m buying tickets for Spider-Man: Far From Home as soon as they come out no matter how expensive they get.

@@sash9249 What banner explained near the start is that you can't go back in time on your own timeline, because the events that happened are fixed and it would create a causality loop to do so.
So what actually happens when you go back in time in the MCU is you create an alternate timeline which has had the same events as the original, but being there has no effect on the present. This is why they were able to steal stones and it still be the case that thanos got them in infinity war.
The difficulty with cap showing up on the bench in the normal timeline is it breaks all of that, if he went back in the current timeline, it immediately raises questions like "what happened to Peggy's original husband?" And other stuff that is the exact problem that Bruce's time travel model avoids.

These two men have brought some of the biggest moments to the MCU whilst doing serious damage to it at the same time. Their contributions are really a double edge sword.

These guys took us on a journey over 4 movies. I am so thankful marvel gave them a shot, because this movie couldn’t have been done without them! Thank you Russo’s and thank you to all the characters and people behind the scenes! I can’t wait to see an “infinity saga” box set of some sort with all the movies from iron man to endgame
