Sorry about the typos, I was up until four in the morning working on this one.
    There's never enough caffeine!

    2021.
Thank you for being so real and making this art form. I'm also a fan of the Fallout series and all the "what ifs"

Retcon Raider, great video as always, I love your Van Buren analysis and I wish this game had actually released! But, what are you going to do once you're done with Van Buren? I think it would be cool if you did cut content and scraped ideas for the other Fallout games, especially Fallout: New Vegas, since that one had so much cut content and scraped ideas.

I've still got at least two months worth of Van Buren videos to make, but after that I'll probably start looking at some of the other Fallout games. New Vegas is definitely a possibility!
There are plenty of other topics I'd love to talk about, such as the other canceled games, cut content, or even just Fallout lore in general.

That all sounds super cool and exciting!

God, I would love to see mutants like those in a Fallout game.
The Gehennas especially. Such a delightfully offputting design. They're obviously radioactive tar mutants, but something about that concept art just reminds me of the spookier, Half Life 1 version of headcrab zombies. The slouch, or the grotesquely warped and mutated but obviously still human form, something.

Apparently the visual design for the "Grafton Monster" in Fallout 76 drew on the Gehenna for inspiration.
I'm not sure if they're otherwise related, though.

Weren't the Powder Gangers created by escaped convicts at Black Canyon in Van Buren?
I didn't know that the "plot device" in the mines was required to fix the spaceship at Bloomfield. I forgot that Burham Springs was a mining town. I didn't know of the area's connection to Hoover Dam, Maxson Bunker and New Canaan either. I never heard of Prometheus Coal or that they were a division of Poseidon Oil. I didn't know that Burham Springs was a coal mine and small town called Eagle Rock that they built to house the workers. I didn't know that they shut down operations and sold the mine and town to the US Government. I also didn't know that the US Government tasked Poseidon Energy to turn it into a nuclear waste disposal site. I forgot about the Agricola facility and I forgot that two scientists were trapped there when the Great War occurred and that one died of natural causes while the other killed himself. I didn't know that the scientist killed himself with a knife. I didn't know that Burham Springs got it's name in 2238 by the NCR when they discovered, and reopened the mine the following year, or that the NCR ended their eastern expansion in 2245. I forgot of the standoff between the NCR and a Powder Gang and that the Gehennas were the mutated survivors of at least two dozen people when the mine exploded. I also didn't know that the standoff happened in 2247. I didn't know that the prosperity at Burham Springs ended when the rail lines were rebuilt or that there was unrest in the NCR that resulted in the NCR army pulling out of the area. I didn't know that the Powder Gang that was trapped at Burham Springs attacked travellers between there and Hoover Dam and that they killed important NCR Politian's. I forgot that the Major who led the NCR soldiers at Burham Springs was working for Victor and I forgot that his name was Robert "Border" Briggs. I forgot that the player encounters Briggs at the Grand Canyon. I didn't know that the NCR troops at the Burham Springs confrontation was the 5th Engineering Division. I didn't know that a dozen scavengers came to Burham Springs in 2248 or that 9 of them die by 2250. I also didn't know that in 2250 the scavengers were attacked three times or that two were by the Blackfoots and one was with the Vipers or that the scavengers won each time by setting defensive traps. I didn't know that the place had three sections or the name of most of the landmarks at Burham Springs (same with Jericho). I didn't know that mutated Geckos were going to be at Burham Springs either or that the scavengers would be paranoid and wouldn't t want to interact with the player but that last one makes sense. I never heard of Sparky, Phil and Frank LaFrancis or their physical appearance, clothing and weaponry before. I didn't know that Sparky had two ranks of the "Bonus Move" perk and that he has PTSD and is very quick. I didn't know that the Hanged Man would quote the bible when you enter Burham Springs or that having him would make it hard to peacfully resolve the standoff between the player and Phil and Sparky when the player arrives. I didn't know you could trade with Phil and Frank or that Frank had higher prices for his goods than Phil. I didn't know Sparky made the traps or that Frank was the genius who placed them and that his shop was rigged with explosives either. I didn't know that the player could disarm and steal the traps or that Battery was useful in disarming them. I knew what the Gehennas were but I forgot what they were called and their orange eyes too. I didn't know that the player can hide from the Gehennas by standing still or their attacks of fiery melee and toxic fumes and that they melted into smoking black goo when defeated. Never heard of the Molechs or that they lacked arms and had a serpent like extending neck with a fanged jaw and green orbs that spray toxic bio or that they could spot still foes. I forgot how the Gehennas got their names and I didn't know how the Molechs got their name either. Never heard of the quest Phil gives the player to kill the Geckos, the multiple ways to complete the quest and rewards. Also never heard of "Electro-Beetles" either or that they were decedents of the blister beetles, their bites gave an electric shock, or that they can be used to make bio-cells. Never heard of Frank's quest to fix the water pump to drain the nuclear waste from the lower level of the mine and that the two parts (propeller and hose) needed were in Jericho and the rewards the player gets for completing it. Never knew of the layout of the mines too. I didn't know that you could skip getting the parts by fixing the pump yourself or have Arcade, Ashley and Battery fix it. Never heard of the random encounter near Burham Springs with the merchant missionaries. Never heard of Jerimiah's mission to broker a trade deal with Burham Springs, the rewards for finishing it, or the lying option. Never heard of the Brotherhood of Steel quest involving the Agricola facility at Burham Springs or the requirements from the Brotherhood of Steel and the Circle of Steel to either get and give the Brotherhood of Steel key pieces of pre-war technology or the Circle of Steel wanting the player to kill the scavengers and collapse the mine. I also never heard of the rewards for completing that quest, especially the Hermes Light Combat Armour or what it was made of and what the player needed to make it. I also never heard of Governor Dodge's NCR quest to get the Burham Spring mine running again. I knew of the Agricola robots but I didn't know that they played a key role in the NCR quest by reprogramming them (or the requirements or companions needed to do this) to put out the fires or that the player might have to go get the Agricola Fire Suppression Module at the Grand Canyon. I didn't know that the Agricola robots could become hostile when the player enters the lab. I didn't know that completing the NCR quest would lead to an alliance between the Mormons and the NCR or the other rewards that the player gets. I didn't know of the random encounter between the NCR 5th Engineering Divison and a group of Powder Gangers or that not creating an allience between the NCR and the Mormons would lead to conflict between the two. I didn't know that the player might have to choose between the NCR and the Brotherhood of Steel but could smooth thing out by having the NCR give the Agicola robots to the Brotherhood of Steel after they put out the fires at Burham Springs (I didn't know that it would be impossible to do if the player is working with the Circle of Steel but it makes sense). I had no idea that Goodsprings was inspired by Burham Spings. Sorry this is the longest. I glossed over this place when I researched Van Buren before I watched your series
Of the typical multiple endings #5 would've been my choice.
