learn to know when to leave well enough alone. generally, house doesn't need to be remixed. remixes and edits are left generally for boogie, RnB, funk, soul, perhaps disco, but this rework, is completely superflous. that being said, if one cannot resist remixing or re-editing a house track that is a seminal as do it your way, you must make it your own. u must create something devastatingly fresh and new yet still reverent. do it your way needs no remixes. i'm sorry. obviously you can do whatever your heart desires, but you wont be awarded any headz credentials for basically just added a few percussive notes to this. it's silly, and i reject the notion that art does not have an objective baseline from which efforts such as this can be criticized. take the critique and do something powerful with it. and please miss me with the pseudo positivity and thin skin.
I done this rework by using an R&B, Funk, perhaps Disco segment by montana, a record I found in a charity shop, same one used by moodiiswing. I then samped that record loop into my akai sampler to process / filter it, the drums recreated on a TR-8, then processed, eq, compression, flanged hats etc. I then sourced the other samples moodIIswing used in order to fully recreate the track, including the Barbara Ann Teer acapella from the smithsonian, which I waited a few months for them to send me a link to download it. Just to be able to play the track online (in my own personal DJ sets) without any copyright restrictions, as moodiiswing's original version has been licensed and published many times, so blocks my live DJ sets online, as will many other classics, which is why I recreate many of my own versions of tracks I like, mainly to be able to play them without the copyright restrictions, but still give credit to the original artists in the artworks. Many other DJs (you would be suprised) contacted me for this version, even some fairly big names & record labels, but I just put it as a free download on my #SnazzyTrax soundcloud initially. BTW, as for House not needing remixes, I get ATLEAST 2 or 3 emails a week asking me to remix house tracks... but what do I know??? ;)
Great rework! 👌🏼😉
Nice one!
