    I am old enough that I did learn on fly bar and am happy to have had that experience. Could make it fly as smooth as fly bar less but the wise choice was not to become distracted and look away from it. Yours may be a little sluggish but it is making torque, that's ok, just call it your low headspeed heli 😀

      I learned on fly bar with no gyro! I remember those days lol it definitely brought back some memories! It definitely has the torque. The governor is not 100% set right! I’m gonna mess around with it and get the head speed back up to around 2000 RPM. Definitely needs to be sped up, servos are slow lol

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 Yeah this video suggestion has got me going down a deep rabbit hole tonight, helicopters are crazy now! The first heli I flew was the Hirobo Shuttle back in around 2002 but my parents wouldn't let me buy one until I was 16 when I got a Trex 450XL, I think it was the one with the yellow blow molded canopy. CCPM was advance back then!
      I worked in the industry when I turned 18, when things started really advancing, working along side Mikado when they released the Logo 600 and V-Bar, in fact I was one of the first to fly the V-Bar in the UK back in the day. Ended up owning the Logo 14, 400, 500, 600, Trex 500 and my last purchase was the Avant Aurora with a YS 91 and Hatori pipe. I sold all the gear on when I left the hobby in about 2008, but still have the painted canopy for the Avant in my loft along side the Futaba gyro, I think it was a GY611?
      Either way, I had a great time in the hobby, maybe I'll pick it back up some day

      @@Pastronomer69 that’s awesome history! I remember all of that as well. I got in the helicopters back in 97/98. I was really young and I’ve learned on a GMP cricket that my grandfather would make the parts four so I could continue to learn how to fly. Helicopters have come a very long way and FBL units servos motors all of that it’s just incredible now. Mikado is still around and doing great things. They just released a brand new radio and FBL. You should definitely get back into it! Get yourself another small Helicopter and get your fingers back! Welcome to the channel!

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 Wow the GMP Cricket, that's a real blast from the past. My good friend learnt to fly on one of those I think. Thankfully by the time I got my first heli things had moved on a little.
      The company I worked for in 2007-2009 was a major LiPo manufacturer and we were pushing new tech like crazy, along side a load of brands we worked with. It was a great time, I remember when a 400 brushed motor and NiCads were normal and within a few short years I had a 33% Krill Katana fully electric, now that's almost normal I bet. As I say it was a great time, I got to fly all over the world with my hobby. Joe Nall 2009 was such a memorable life experience for some kid from England! I remember I took my Aurora over there for the first time they had opened a heli line, just a few minutes into the first flight I had stuck it into the ground. Thankfully some kind folks let me fly their stuff for the rest of the week.
      That friend of mine who I just mentioned has a bunch of OMP M2's (probably our chat of it brought the suggested vids up on my youtube) and wanted to sell one... which I've just gone and bought off him. Looks like I'm back in the game! I blame you for this 😅

    So a question, my dad still has the Kalt Baron 60 I first learned on, only thing I need to refurbish is the main rotor gear. You know where is best to look for those parts? I found a whole body and gear a while back, but didn't jump on it. Sad I didn't either.

      Your best place is going to be looking on eBay as well as maybe the vintage helicopter group on Facebook. Unfortunately with the older models it is extremely difficult to find parts and depending on the model it can be even more difficult. I would just keep searching and looking.

    man you got to get that raptor 50 up and running. I'm just getting back in to it after about 12 years my friend got me back in to it after he brought an old 400 size walkera it was all metal head as well and got it for 25 bucks, I have had to learn it all over again so i got me a tx16smk2 a blade fusion 180 smart alot has changed older heli's seemed easy to setup on controller side but the heli's are more complex and alot more parts to, But now for me is its the other way around complex radio's and simpler heli's with less parts, Took me awhile to learn how it all works watching youtube scanning forums an truck loads of reading and manage to get the fusion 180 up and flying with the default heli setup and some tweaking it is very smooth to fly I had raptor 30 v2 to learn on abit nervous with that and reget selling it, Then I move on to a blade 4003D it was alot of fun still have it and going to convert it to a flybarless head for it and see how i go. love your work mate keep it up.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  Рік тому

      Thank you! I greatly appreciate it. So personally the TX16S is probably the hardest radio to learn lol helis now are so simple! The FBL setup and heli setup is very straight forward once you get the hang of it. If you have a spektrum radio then you would be setup and flying in minutes. Mainly because there is a heli template already there where on the TX16S you have to set everything! The fusion 180 is a great model and one of my favorite Blade models. I’m working on the Raptor 50 as we speak! Videos very soon! Definitely excited to fly that one! Glad to hear you getting back into the hobby!

      Definitely not, FlyBarLess all day for a beginner. Couple reasons but the main reason is simplicity of the head. A lot less parts, a lot less linkage is to adjust and get right. You can tune a FBL unit to your liking really slow the model down I have multiple flight modes. And they are a lot more locked in as well as rescue features and auto level.

    You all guys talking about how flybar helis are vintage but i have always flown flybar helis 😂, i have my old 2010 t-rex 450 pro with flybar, and of course a Raptor 50 Titan SE with a Redline .53 engine, and the only thing that keeps me out of it flying is that eventually the muffler keeps getting loose and the screws ends somewhere in the fly field. I have tried to make a bigger hole with a longer screw and use a nut on the muffler side but stills keep getting loose. Definetly this is something that nitro helis lose against electrics hahahah. Greetings from Venezuela
