In my country the 2nd retainer that you talked about are called mobil braces and we don't wear them as retainers.Most of the kids wear them befor braces.

Do you have any dental wax? Put some on where the brackets and wires are broken, then call the orthodontist to get them fixed.

Yes, you can!! But when you're in pain, hot food can make the pain worse. Ice cream and popsicles are a lifesaver!
