    • Tone Demo Of My Ernie ...
    Here is a detailed video on the gear I use to achieve my "Balance" or "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" era Van Halen tone. With my Music Man axis, and a good handful of MXR pedals paired with my 5150, this tone absolutely kicks ass! The best part is this is very low volume, and it still sounds like a cranked amp when recorded. Let me know what you think down below.

    Very nice bro. I love those mxr flangers. I bought an original one from 1978 with the Reticon 1024A chip in it. Wasn't cheap, and i had to have it. It sounds just like the 1st VH album. Edward Van Halen in a box!!! Lol. But hey i been really diggin your vids here lately. Greetings from Kentucky!! Keep rockin🤘😎👍

    Hey you helped me decipher why some of the stripes are on the sides and some are only on top, I was pretty confused as to what I bought🤣 after seeing a lot of gear reviews with stripes on the side I wasn’t sure. Thanks for the info.

    Better cherish that guitar... you may never find another one that nice. Nice to know its in a good place with a guy that understands why it is and what it is.

    Nice content Jake, thank you for sharing! Interesting you run the mooer pitch shifter in front. (I would have guessed it would have been in the loop).... Did it just sound better in front or ? Keep the great content coming! Cheers and subscribed!!

    I just got the EVH phaser and flanger yesterday. I have the EVH overdrive on the way today. The phaser and flanger are fantastic. I’d like to get his wah and chorus at some point.
    That’s a gorgeous guitar, sir.

      @@jaketanis3069 i got the evh wolfgang standard 2 weeks ago and i absolutely love it. i wonder how much difference there is. the guy at the store said the axis was still way nicer but the standard is still the best guitar ive ever played

    • @jaketanis3069
      @jaketanis3069  3 роки тому +3

      @@redcanary7 the standards still play great. Comes down to a lot of higher cost material in the axis (quilt maple, birds eye, etc) the standards are straight forward basswood. However playability is fantastic on both of them!

      @@redcanary7 I’ll echo what Jake says. The standards are wonderful. I’ve had one for almost 2 months now. Got it a week after Ed passed. I’ve upgraded a couple of the parts on the Floyd like stainless steel Allen screws, upgraded saddles and titanium string inserts. Not for tone reasons but for structural integrity since I like to make sure those strings are locked down tight. It’s got what I think is the best neck I’ve ever played. It feels like the frets are rolled from the factory. Just so smooth and broken in. I even put a 5150 sticker on it.

    • @redcanary7
      @redcanary7 3 роки тому

      @@MrSpeed-lt8gr did you notice any tone difference with the sticker? also, the fine tuning knobs were a pain from the factory. they had a burr on it causing things not to stay in tune. had to sand them now its a dream

    So are you running the pitch box at the front of the amp or in the effects loop?

    I have the same pf detune pedal but still didn't quite get the balance and fuck tone. It was missing the stero tone and spilting the detune. Get the boss ps6 amd run in stero since it has left and right and you can do -9 cents left amd +9 right and you will be spot on. This makes a massive diffrence to get the tone and without buying the eventide 910 for thousands the ps6 ran in stereo is extremely close.

    Jake I was thinking last night my flanger sounded wonky. You just made me realize it’s an 18 volt pedal and I was running it 9 volts. I don’t think my voodoo labs pedal power has an 18 volt output. Would I just purchase an 18 volt AC adapter for it?

    • @jaketanis3069
      @jaketanis3069  3 роки тому +2

      You can buy the Dunlop 18 volt OR voodoo lab makes a coupler that makes it so you can utilize two outputs for one pedal making it 18 volts. This is great you just want to make sure you get out the manual and use the two outputs that will give you enough miliamps. Remember you can go over on miliamps, just don’t go under 🤘🏻

      To play covers? Maybe ur a fan of the guitarist? Perhaps there's a reason the tone is sought after (cuz its good...) what a stupid statement. Yes finding ur own tone is good too.

      You have no idea how much people use other people's tones as a springboard to find their own.
