      Thank you so much, You have brought back so many happy memories of my times spent in Luxor. Unfortunately we can no longer fly into Luxor from the UK and I miss it, and my friends there. Karnak looks very quiet. The light and sound show there was amazing. Love to everyone there 💕

    Thanks very much for this tour. Would enjoy tours of other sites in Egypt, Morocco, Indian and Chinese cities, Anghor Wat (spelling?). Love the birds chirping in this video--pretty sounds and somehow make it easier to imagine how someone in the day would have experienced walking about or worshipping in the complex, since the ancestors of the current species were probably making the same sounds....

    Where did the water come from for the Sacred Lakes?

  • @ebrassy
    @ebrassy 6 місяців тому

    no, I have not, but I can tell you when you use a pulley to move something heavy, a pulley halves the weight when pulling, but not when carrying, that remains the same, the beam on which a side pulley is attached must be able to carry the real weight, but at tarnak there were no beams
    to support that bridge or lock would be too big and too heavy, the pillars that carry the weight serve that purpose and that is why the whole building is built downwards, that is what I can tell you and this is just my opinion

    The stones will laugh because this is not a temple.
    This is clearly a fort on the river side.
    The 8 niches that you see at the entrance are to block the supporting beams of a bridge and when the bridge is lifted, the beams fit into those niches. The holes above the niches serve to allow the pulleys and ropes to pass through to the rear. is that those pillars are so close together to absorb the weight of the bridge.
    with those pulleys because they support the bridge

    The sound production values are quite low. Often Lesley's voice drops too low for us to hear what she is saying and the explanation of what we are looking at is lost. Also, many times it is not clear, as in the Tuthmosis III area, what we are looking at. Also, there are many points along the way that she does not explain. The areas just appear as yet more broken blocks. Generally, a more professional approach production would have been appreciated. There are a few misattributions. One is the attribution of the sphinxes in the Sphinx Avenue. Lesley attributed these to Ramesses II whereas they were actually created by Nectanebo. She said the First Pylon was made by Amenhotep III whereas it also was actually made by Nectanebo. Also, the Hypostyle Hall was created by Sethy I not Amenhotep III and finished by Ramesses II.
    Generally, I appreciated hearing about more areas like the lesser temples than are usually covered in tours of Karnak. I especially liked hearing about and seeing Amun`s Holy of Holies and the Sacred Lake.
