That's incredible the Roman paintings over the Egyptian hieroglyphics . Thanks so much for showing us that I never seen that before. Such an amazing place must visit one day.
@@JumpingPlaces I hope you two go to Rome one day! There's quite a few Roman temples and buildings that wound up being the foundations and basements of medieval churches, etc. . Oh, and the Pantheon looks like an almost perfectly brand new Roman temple despite it being almost 2,000 years old- and having been a Christian church for the last 15 centuries(and all this with a big hole to see the sky smack in the middle of its roof)!
What an amazing trip to Luxor! To think that all of how much skill and detail the workers and artists had to carve and paint the elaborate artwork, symbols and writings,etc.- even in those tombs that also been excavated very steeply to deep levels into solid rock with no natural light (and somehow no traces of soot from torches were left behind by the original workers and their light sources from the pre-electric times is still a mystery)- and, in the tombs' cases, they were meant to be sealed off from humanity forever instead of being for any visitors or tourists to view! Also, those cartouches with the monarchs' names were the key to unlocking the how to translate Ancient Egyptian since the Rosetta Stone discovered in 1799 had its text hieroglyphics as well as in Greek and the French historian Jean-Francois Champollion was able to use the Egyptian cartouches for the rulers' names of Ptolemy and Cleopatra and saw where the corresponding words in the Greek part of that Stone. Up until his discovery in 1822, Ancient Egyptian writing had been a complete mystery for thousands of years (and thus almost all its pharaohs and indeed its history was unknown but for the few pharaohs and events that had been recorded and recollected to outsiders). And the Egyptians made the most of that vital Nile, since even during the pharaohs' times, it was recorded that almost all the other water sources dried up and, apart from a few oases, ALL the land not hugging the Nile's banks turned from forests and grasslands to desert! Another beautiful video and I'm happy you two got to enjoy that fascinating land and didn't let the hustlers spoil your enjoyment (though it's very hard to imagine either of you getting angry since you two seem so incredibly patient and mellow). @@johngrant7696 I don't claim to have any knowledge about Dona Carolina's family history or roots. However, many Brazillians have Portuguese heritage . Before that, in what's now Portugal, previously the occupying Arabs had had offspring with the local Iberian population and before that the Arabs had had offspring with the Egyptians while they occupied that part of the world. Thus, it's not impossible that Dona Carolina (or, for that matter Sir Chris whose own mother is Brazillian) might have had some Egyptian ancestresses in the lineage from roughly 13 centuries ago but that would be entirely their and their families' calls to attempt to trace their pedigrees via documents and/or DNA and, especially, whether to share any of it with anyone outside their loved ones.

Just so epic. Those hieroglyphics were so clear after so many thousands of years! The area is just huge. It's that dry desert climate that has preserved everything but the Egyptian govt has certainly done a wonderful job of restoring and presenting everything before it was too late.Ironically, the British Museum has the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts in the world- over 50,000.Most of these pieces were acquired (stolen?)during Britain's colonial rule. This includes the Rosetta Stone. Very cool, especially watching this on Easter Sunday with the crossover influences from Egyptian religion and Christianity, e.g. the concepts of life after death and eternal life... even the sun god Ra--the falcon with the disc over his head--who's kinda like the Christian concept of an all-powerful diety/God... very cool moment at 18:48 with falcon-headed Horus with his turban-looking crown followed then at 18:51 to see all-powerful falcon-headed Ra with the sun represented as a disc over his head. Before this I didn't realize they are two different gods. Wish you could have seen some images of Bastet the cat-headed god, but hey, no complaints!

great adventure u have....i would suggest if u guys are done in Egypt, try to jump to Jordan as u r almost there, one place to visit is Petra, which is one of the wonders of the world and after that go swim in the dead sea.
the largest and most important religious complex in ancient Egypt. The most significant structure, and the largest religious building ever built, is the Temple of Amun-Ra, considered to be where that god lived on earth with his wife, Mut, and son, Khonsu, who also have temples at the site.
They are amazing and unique but don't overlook the REST of Egypt's history including buildings and artifacts from the Nubians, Persians, Greeks[Macedonians], Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, etc.
we did all of this on our own just tagging on to the tours but starting at dawn so hardly any tourists and one temple across the river only us there. Also to see the fabulous tomb of Nefatari you need to go at dawn to get the ticket as only a limited number of tourists allowed each day. We got a local guy to take us across the river for only 5 egyptian pounds, same for boat trip up the nile.
Merida is very close to many Mayan cities and pyramids (and not too far away from some spectacular beaches) so let's hope that Chris and Carol consider visiting there one day!

Hi. I enjoyed your video as it brought back memories of so many holidays there. Your choice of music and volume was spot on. While I followed your link to the music site, I wouldn't know which tracks you used, which was a shame.
I know both you and Carol tend to focus on natural settings, but all these ancient Egyptian sites were spectacular. I understand why one of my friends has been to Egypt 3 times - she has traveled all over the world and Egypt is her favorite place. The bummer is how some of the locals treat the tourists as people they can easily take advantage of and scam for money. I still do want to visit Egypt in the next several years.
Very nice, Luxor has rich history of antiquity being the pharaoh’s capital of ancient Egypt where you see most oldest and famous Egyptian sites. How’s the weather there? I went there in June but it was so so hot even at 10 am esp. when you’re exploring in an open museum like the Temple of Karnak. The best time to tour these open museums is in late afternoon so the dry and hot air can be tolerated.
It was hot but not too extreme on this day, other days got super hot! Also the weather and temperature changed a lot depending on where we were in egypt

Wish you could have seen some images of Bastet the cat-headed god, but hey, no complaints!
so super! thank you so much! gorgeous temples😍😍👍👍💖💖
Thank you too :d
O antigo Egito é incrível! Lindas imagens e história!!!
The music is fantastic
Cheers!
Very nice 👍, it was nice filmed . Thank you 🙏
Your video made me want to visit Egypt, great video
Chris, you did it again 👍 Awesome video, almost looked like Carol was the tour guide😹…
Bellissimo posto!💛
Beautiful! Keep enjoying.
Wow, this brought back memories of the film, The English Patient, and TV series, The Night Manager! Both are excellent and well worth watching. You would enjoy them more now you’ve been in Egypt.
Watched both of those but ages ago!
Great video thank you for putting it up. 🇬🇧
great adventure u have....i would suggest if u guys are done in Egypt, try to jump to Jordan as u r almost there, one place to visit is Petra, which is one of the wonders of the world and after that go swim in the dead sea.
the largest and most important religious complex in ancient Egypt. The most significant structure, and the largest religious building ever built, is the Temple of Amun-Ra, considered to be where that god lived on earth with his wife, Mut, and son, Khonsu, who also have temples at the site.
Loving your videos so much.
Travel programs don’t always show you from a travellers perspective.. great video!
Ancient places in Egypt are top tourists attraction.
They are amazing and unique but don't overlook the REST of Egypt's history including buildings and artifacts from the Nubians, Persians, Greeks[Macedonians], Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, etc.
@@wardarcade7452 Yes they too
You both sure are in complete de NILE! lol Great episode - so much history! Stay safe - have a blast.
we did all of this on our own just tagging on to the tours but starting at dawn so hardly any tourists and one temple across the river only us there. Also to see the fabulous tomb of Nefatari you need to go at dawn to get the ticket as only a limited number of tourists allowed each day. We got a local guy to take us across the river for only 5 egyptian pounds, same for boat trip up the nile.
Kickass history lesson.
Wow amazing place
Thanks for sharing 2 Canadians living in Mexico Merida sending support Cheers J&D
Thanks so much!
Merida is very close to many Mayan cities and pyramids (and not too far away from some spectacular beaches) so let's hope that Chris and Carol consider visiting there one day!
@@wardarcade7452 yes we are exploring this area for another 1.5 more years. Soon we are moving to the coast its only 25min from where we are. Then thinking Oaxaca on the coast Cheers. 2 gringos on the Gulf
Hi. I enjoyed your video as it brought back memories of so many holidays there. Your choice of music and volume was spot on. While I followed your link to the music site, I wouldn't know which tracks you used, which was a shame.
Fantastic video thanks. Are there any tours to the red sea, cant see it on viator
great video suitsgreat civilization!
I still do want to visit Egypt in the next several years.
you guys should check out the scarab club in el gouna, iv been there and it was amazing !
for the private tour where did you book? I would love info on having a private tour in Luxor like you guys had?
Very nice, Luxor has rich history of antiquity being the pharaoh’s capital of ancient Egypt where you see most oldest and famous Egyptian sites. How’s the weather there? I went there in June but it was so so hot even at 10 am esp. when you’re exploring in an open museum like the Temple of Karnak. The best time to tour these open museums is in late afternoon so the dry and hot air can be tolerated.
It was hot but not too extreme on this day, other days got super hot! Also the weather and temperature changed a lot depending on where we were in egypt
Superb vlog on Luxor (loved all your videos about Egypt and I'm also a fan of your other vlogs, in particular Myanmar 🇲🇲 , congrats for the amazing job and thanks for the cool footage. Saw in one of your videos that you are also using a GoPro. Got myself a Hero11 and wondered in which mode you are shooting for outdoor and indoors (natural or flat?). Thanks and all the best with your future travels and vlogs 😉 Keep up the good work, best, Stephane
Finally experienced Luxor. Had Fharohs revenge in Hurghada in 2008!
Pretty cool video in a hot weather 🙂,,,, upper egypt ( southern egypt) is best visited from November to late February,( its known as high season , prices will be a bit elevated ) ,,, I guess my advice is abit late ,,, but hope fellow tourists might benefit of it ,,,, welcome to Egypt ,,, at any time u'll sure have some activity u can enjoy ( probably ur travel guide chart will point these out ) . recreation places along beaches at summer ,,, or visit archaeological sites mostly in upper egypt , better visited in winter ( there's other archaeological places all across Egypt) ,,, have a nice time ,,,
