I can't believe how consistent you've all been over the years! I love everything you guys put out! Without a doubt you guys are the best on YT. You don't half ass your VFX. They look like movie theater ready VFX and NO ONE on this platform makes anything remotely close. Trust me, I've watched a ton of them! Even videos from almost a decade ago still look good, I appreciate the attention to detail! Also have you had any look with features lately? Would love to get an update on that as your die hard fans are curious because the Triune Films family deserves it for awhile. Much Love Peace! 👏🙏
@@filmriot Please Ryan. My comment was about to be the same thing. We need an update. Crowd fund it like Chris Stuckmann did. He made it independently, and now his film is getting distributed by NEON. Was able to see a special backer screening in LA and that was a lot of fun. I (and so many other fans) would donate in a heartbeat.
@@filmriot please crowd fund a feature! I punched up VFX on Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls, that was an original feature film funded on Kickstarter. You guys would have a lot of support.

Damn, never would’ve expected a tutorial based on the 2015 Fant4stic movie! The lighting walkthrough was also dope, especially loved how y’all got the reflections for the muzzle flashes.
I can’t believe that 4 years ago I used to watch your videos and now I’m in high school I don’t have time for vfx and watching your videos reminds me of the good days when I was passionate about filmmaking and VFX 🥺😔 high school made me lose all my skills in VFX because of how busy I was. I hope I would get back to VFX ASAP😅
Been watching you since I was probably 12 years old. I’m 24 now, got my BFA in Film recently, and still love watching your videos. A huge inspiration you are. Thanks dude
Loved the use of special effects to bring Doctor Doom's forcefield to life. Perfect inspiration for our next Marvel villain audition - actors take note, intensity is key.
I remember watching you when I was but a teenager, man I'm about to turn 30 and seeing you with some grey hair made me sad but happy because I was able to see Film Riot again.
As someone who watched you guys from the very beginning (Day to night, srhimps to giants was my first video), it's always weird seeing you guys older, but it's possibly weirdest knowing that we've watched Emily grow up. You guys are all awesome, and I'm glad you're still rocking it after all this time.
THIS. THIS. Dear Lord. THIS is what I would've failed completely if I ever went to film school. My brain can't process how you and your team know how to use AE. I've struggled and struggled with it. You make it look so easy lol.
8:13, The added detail of the field not just already being there like the aura-type effect it was in the movie since that Doom was more of a telekinetic generating those green energy fields to affect his environment, but being more like a spell being cast with that gesture is kind of fitting with how Doom works in the cosmics, who is both a mad scientist and a mage, which is probably how they'll portray him soon.
BAMMY WHAM! Approved goodness. I’ve been watch FR since before UA-cam. Before revision 3. Heck probably since episode single digit something. Keep up the good work folks.
My entire channel is expired by you amazing creators. Despite being a mobile fikmmaker (for now), your breakdown of everything including how you shot your videos REALLY HELPED ME in my fikmmaker journey🙏
After effect gets so confusing and unintuitive with even slightly complex stuff like this. This effect would be soooo much easier in something like fusion or nuke. Yeah, nodes take a sec to get used to but being able to visually see your pipeline is a gamechanger. No more endless layers of comps and precomps, duplicating cameras, and weird workarounds. Every part of the shot and applied effects is at your fingertips and can interact with any other part of the pipeline.
I get that you need to make these ads to make money, but I wish you'd use them as an opportunity to make Film Riot shorts: Same set-up, same effects, just include a mini story with humor. That's what used to separate Film Riot from the countless AE tutorials.
It's funny that they already accepted that everyone that uses After Effects will also need to have these plugins and asset packs. It's nice. Because we do have them. So thank you to stop remembering us to have them. And also, if someone don't have them, they surely will find a way to.
I'd go with a good mic. You can go handheld or use a tripod. For lighting, you can use existing or build a DIY kit off can lights, etc... to start. Sound is crucial.
What is the workflow if someone wants to follow these tutorials but needs to color grade in Davinci Resolve? Should they color grade in Resolve before doing VFX or Later?
The best way would be to comp in an aces workflow, exporting in the same color space as your original footage so you grade it like you normally would, with the vfx now baked in but they are correctly matching the original color space
Hey Guys thanks for the tutorial. I had a question about the FX packs. I have the shockwaves, energy, embers, and a few more. BUT when i pull them into Davinci 80% of them will not read correctly (Media Offline). I'll even sometimes have ones that work one day, then say offline the next. Not sure what to do!
does a "haze can" trigger a smoke detector? I bought a cheap halloween spirit fog machine wanting to use it for an effect in a short and learned VERY quickly all my hardwired smoke detectors in my apartment were triggered very easily.

We love you guys. I have been watching you for years and you taught me more than film school did.
The ad was basically a product review with all the details and B-Roll, so good! Honestly could have been its own entire video and I'd watched it.
That was one of the best Battery Commercials I have seen
Were any other OG viewers expecting a “Watch for ricochet!” from Emily?
haha! Solid reference.
Where’s my slushy?
Just for nostalgia, missed opportunity lol
Coming back after a long time just reminds me why you guys succeed: doing cool stuff and explaining how to do it without any fluff. 10/10
Muzzle flash hallway illumination camera pass is just genius! Thanks again for another great tutorial gang.
love your channel, always come back to your videos, been using you useful tips and advice for years, keep up the great work
