The importance of the wind mechanic being introduced directly after chapters 3 and 2 is to show you that your dash is not going to save you in all situations. For example, in the massive wind area around 1:36:30, he could be dashing upwards instead of diagonally, as the wind carries him further. The other importance it can have is to ease in the idea of neutral jumps, as the wind makes it easier to perform them when it's going towards the wall you're trying to infinitely climb.
Also it’s important to reduce over reliance on up diagonal dashes that most new players develop. Wind becomes so much easier when you realise dashing isn’t slowed by the wind

I don't think you should play Undertale. You said it yourself, you don't play games for the story you play for the gameplay. Undertale is story first, music second, gameplay third. (All of which are great in my opinion)
"If I wanted story I'd watch a movie" is *incredibly* insulting, not only to Maddy Thorson, but to game devs in general. Like, as someone who wants to get into it, thats very disheartening. People work hard on this, and you just throw their efforts away like it's nothing.
He isn't throwing it away like it's nothing. Developers know that some people go into games for gameplay and most are just glad for that. Any kind of enjoyment is enjoyment, that's what developers want to see. People enjoying what they've made. Whether it's that they enjoy it for every aspect, or whether it's that they enjoy it for a single aspect. He isn't being insulting to developers. He's just saying his own viewpoint that he plays games for the gameplay and experiences other forms of media for story. And that is completely fine. What isn't fine however is saying somebody is insulting developers because he's not enjoying every single aspect of the game. It comes across as gatekeeping. You're essentially saying he's wrong to enjoy things how he wants, that's far worse than Ant choosing to just play a game for gameplay. If you're really wanting to be a developer, you need to understand that not everybody will like every single aspect of a game that you make. The world just doesn't work like that. But if they're finding any enjoyment at all in something you've created, you've at least made something you can be proud of.
@@Azhs96 There's a clear difference between smant not enjoying something and smant not even attempting to see something because he's already decided he won't like it before seeing it.
@@godlyvex5543 He knows he doesn't enjoy story in games. He plays games for gameplay. He isn't throwing it away like it's nothing, he even said he'd check the story out on UA-cam. So he's still willing to go and see the story. But during playing, he just wants gameplay and that's fine.
The fact that the gameplay is so good that he doesn’t want any distractions from it, such as story, is a compliment to the devs. To be able to get someone to sit there and play your game for 11 hours straight is impressive.
(Doesn't read a single line of dialogue), “Man, this story is so boring!” WTF? You have no right to dismiss the story as boring after skipping all the dialogue. I'm sorry the story didn't force you to engage with it through unskippable cutscenes (which you likely would have complained about as well). It's fine if you don't want to interact with the story but don't hand out a shit take after refusing to read any dialogue like you have any experience with the story what-so-ever, that's such whiney behavior. 1:52:41
2:53:27
Two out of three ain't bad
it's actually insane
wow
Bro, at the start, you had fewer deaths then it took for me to beat 3B. Genuinely insane.
I do love watching Smant’s gameplay. He’s a crazy talented gamer. But the deep cuts at viewers just trying to interact are exhausting. Some followers are awkward. They may have trouble navigating social interactions. But… so does Smant. I guess we take the good with the bad.
I remember he told in one stream way before this stream that he had finished Celeste 100% besides the golden strawberries.
this stream is from oct 2021, did he say it before that date?
@@emperortgp2424 Yes, i saw that stream in 2021 live!
Do you know what stream it was
Sus
ayy thats me at 10:15:00 , got him to play a bit longer lmao
9:59:13 I'm gonna try c-sides real quick.
*streams for another hour.
man small ant is too good for this game
21:57 he discovered retention tech
YWNBAW
This was great background while trying not to lose my mind playing delusional canopy.
@SmallAnt if you want to play more Celeste content, i'd recommend installing Everest (Celeste mod loader), and get the 2020 Spring Collab map pack.
Makes joystick moment a thing.
Also, hates on d-pad.
😭

4:33:55 omg this reference is the best thing I've ever heard in my life
I thought that he wouldn't fair well based off the length but turns out some things were left undone
your gamerness scares me.
This game is one of my alltime favorites
I have 100% beat the game
Theres smallant on chapter 5 after 3 hours and theres me on chapter 3 after 9 hours
In this section we learn that Bad-eline I actually just Sad-iline
So they're harmless like everything else?
Famous last words
why smallant acting like the breathing thing doesnt work for panic attacks lol
the game was made by people who have had to deal with this stuff
it works for me too
Maybe in his experience, It doesnt work.
@@NovatoEx Does Smallant have panic attacks?
@@benJAMMIN634 We dont know, maybe he has. We tend to forget that streamers are their own person after their videos
i think he's saying that thinking that it sounds similar to someone saying "just cheer up" to someone who's depressed
"oh you're depressed? just cheer up"
"you're having a panic attack? just breathe"
it makes more sense if you look at it like that
@@AlexPies1 True, it sounds like very superficial advice
That's the only thing I've been watching today.
I played this game on an xbox controller using D-pad, except when I collected a feather I would quickly switch to thumbstick.
Surely he wouldn't enter a B-Side room, first try it, but then die on the final, easiest jump...
6:04:05 WHAT YOU CAN JUST WALL JUMP? I SPENT ABOUT 3 HOURS TRYING TO DO IT AND I COULD HAVE DONE THAT THE ENTIRE TIME
Me paso algo similar Jaja
Por suerte me di cuenta de eso después de un rato :b
Yo JustAFlyingChicken thanks for the shoutout at 10:34:42
certified joystick moment
Cant wait for the 6hr Farwell stream
I read a comment in twitch chat saying it’s 5:35 in the morning for them at 5:35 in the morning what are the odds
I don't think you should play Undertale. You said it yourself, you don't play games for the story you play for the gameplay. Undertale is story first, music second, gameplay third. (All of which are great in my opinion)
11:00:20 Smallant is actually right here because while on PC it is a pattern on switch it is random
THE VODS! AT LAST!
It's not grabbing for some reason.
I think that reason is that you're not holding the "grab" button. 😂
OMG I'VE BEEN SUGGESTING THIS FOR SO LONG
I lolled on the first 3c heart miss. 😂
dang. you didn't get to the part that i'm stuck on..
hopefully there will be a return of celeste one day
"If I wanted story I'd watch a movie" is *incredibly* insulting, not only to Maddy Thorson, but to game devs in general.
Was I the only one to go back to chapter 1 and take a picture for the puzzle at 3:25:30 ?
is there third celeste VOD?
those snowballs are like berto's eggs from mario 2
y,,,you mean birdo??
@@AlexPies1 she looks like a bert to me XD
but yes, that's what i'm talking about
shoutout to the accidental c-pop at 5:02:37
Idk how Smant has the capacity to read chat and also be a badass gamer
45:10 i can't believe smallants phone password is either 3825 or 3025
10:34:45 thanks JustAFlyingChicken
He’s so good at the game
(Doesn't read a single line of dialogue), “Man, this story is so boring!” WTF? You have no right to dismiss the story as boring after skipping all the dialogue. I'm sorry the story didn't force you to engage with it through unskippable cutscenes (which you likely would have complained about as well). It's fine if you don't want to interact with the story but don't hand out a shit take after refusing to read any dialogue like you have any experience with the story what-so-ever, that's such whiney behavior. This game has a deeply touching story on anxiety and overcoming self doubt and for you to come in here and blatantly disrespect it is such bullshit.
