    Well done Matt
You proved no specialist extractor needed to remove the sensor

Looks like a simple hall effect sensor. The black ring will be a magnet with however many poles and the sensor at the bottom of the plastic cup will pick them up as they pass by, changing the voltage in the attached cable. Looking online looks like the same part for my Kona EV.

Ours has failed at 109,000km, but you've still got a long way to go.

What a swizz eh? Nearly two hundred quid and all it wants is a bit of plastic with a tiny sensor in it! Thanks Matt 👍

    That's fantastic! Thanks for investigating.
I've had a couple of odd errors on the dash of my 28 recently, they have gone away when the car was restarted (and it's only been on short journeys in this very hot weather) but suspect I might have something similar starting and this might save me some money!

Good follow up video. You need an outdoor vice!

Just a note, if you are just replacing the sensor be sure to mark its orientation to the hub before you pry off the old one, otherwise there a chance it won’t be able to receive the connector plug/wire at completion.

    Hi Matt
Can you throw any light on a device that's fitted to one of the rear trailing arms of the ioniq
Recently took into a tyre fitting company
While all wheels were off I took the opertunity to look at the brake discs and pads all good but noticed the odd device wired up on the one rear trailing arm

May be headlight levelling system to detect heavy load in the boot. It's common in cars with automatic headlight beam adjustment.

can anyone tell me please if the ioniq 2018 front wheel bearing has the sensors ?

Yes. All modern cars have a wheel speed sensor on every wheel.

I've changed the wheel bearing on both sides on my Ioniq ev, on the rear axle. The first one i replaced at 100k, the second shortly after at 105k kilometer. Seems to be a weakness on these cars. Had the abs and traction control light on in the dash.

Change due to needing a new wheel sensor or wheel bearing? If you haven't seen my original video, see ua-cam.com/video/wf43CwP2TVw/v-deo.html

I have this issue. It cost me 300 for the part (only for the part) and 300 for the replacement. It s a shame. The part already paid waits me at Hyundai. Shame. 60000 km. 600 euro 🤬
