A wonderful video showing how easy it is to take Contrast paints to the next level. Beautiful work.
Thanks mate 😘
Thank you , Juan .
🐺
Thanks 😘
Stretching the Contrast Paints to their absolute limits. A fair bit of this looked like actual magic. I'm gonna have to steal that gold technique for my Sanguinary Guard
Thanks mate 😘
You are a wizard.
You say that and still here I am waiting for my Hogwarts letter
Bookmarking this for when I paint her
Awesome!
Phenomenal work! Back when painting mine, I really fell in love with the sculpt, and it's currently my favourite model of the entire Eldar range. Watching you paint her was a real joy!
Thanks, it was a joy for me too
Nice video! I also spilled white paint on my trousers too
Glad someone understood it, I was worried people night have mistaken it for something dirty
Excellent paint job of a great model! I really like how the wraithbone armour turned out. That hair looks painful though ;)
The gold trim was worse 😂
Keep up the fantastic work! Looks epic
Thanks
Great video. I could learn a lot. ^^
Happy to help 😘
No shame, my friend. We all reacted that way to the new reveals, lol
What a reveal, I'm a happy eldar fanboy
Hello juan.will you please explain the difference in a volumetric highlighting and regular highlights
👋
Great video as always mate, but one question. At 9:45 you say 1:2 ratio instead of 1:1 as the banner says. Which one is the correct ratio? Thanks for your job!!
Also if you could add some tips/small guide into the base i would GREATLY appreciate it :D
What I say is correct here, sorry for the confusion.
I will cover the base recipe on a separate video, it's coming next week
Beautiful, shame it's Eldar :P
Filthy Xenos Elven Scum. Love it!
I love you anyway
That hair is screaming for a drybrush.
That is indeed a great subject for drybrushing
🤣
😘
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures just like to say, another amazing video, your brush control is absolutely spot on. Thanks for the videos really love watching them. 👌
Thanks mate, much appreciated
Such a wonderful video and work, maestro!
I have a Q, why did you choose White priming vs Wraithbone, which seems like a more natural undercoat for howling banshees armor?
Please more videos like this!
Because I prefer the slightly more desaturated look Corax White gets
Absolutely beautiful painting, worthy of a Phoenix Lord!
Thanks 😘
i can't believe how long it took me to notice that the Heavy Contrast logo at the beginning has every color in it except blue. amazing video as always, one of your best!
Thanks 😘
Are you going to end up starting a new contrast series with ap speed paints?
No, I'm going to test them probably but I'm not going to use them for my videos, they are basically a direct copy in terms of colours to the contrast range so it would be a bit pointless
This is hands down the best miniature painting channel I have ever come across! Cant believe I havent seen you before
Thanks mate 😘
Wonderful video as usual. If you get any of that new T'au hype within you, you should contemplate doing a kroot video. I was looking around and realized there isn't really a great video on painting them and its hard making these old models look good lol.
I love the kroot, might get around to doing one yes they are the best thing of the Tau army
Tau is my army. I'd love to see more!
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures I used contrast paints for the first time on my bases. They look amazing. I can't thank you enough.
I know you said Kroot, but I'd love to see an N'Dras Sept Stealth suit. I can't find any good videos on that scheme. As a bonus, there isn't any blue!
I will think about it but I already tell you that it's going to be Eldar town around here for a LONG WHILE
Dude, that looks awesome! It was really cool to watch the whole process too. Very relaxing and enjoyable to watch with amazing results.
Thanks mate 😘
Beautifully painted, the filming is perfect and your narration on point I was totally mesmerised. I’m going to learn so much watching your videos taking my contrast painting to another level. Thankyou. 👍🏻
Thanks, I really appreciate it
I only found your video while looking for pictures on how the model goes together.
Picking up a Jain Zar on a whim to kill some time I found my eyesight at 50 is nothing like it was at 14. The camerawork on your video is amazing.
A lots changed since I last painted any Eldar (not just the name) and your video was incredibly helpful to kick me back into gear. Cheers boss
Thanks, I'm really glad you found my work useful
Wow! Amazing - would love a 'paints used' list in the descriptions of your videos if possible. Just helps me flesh out my inventory ahead of time.
Yeah, that would be great, there the issue of my OUTRAGEOUS laziness though.
But I will try
Amazing video and amazing result! Bravo!
Please paint all the Exarchs when they arrive in plastic :)
Don't you worry I plan on painting all the plastic Phoenix Lords and the Avatar
For a moment I thought id accidentally logged into Juans only fans account! Absolutely beautiful work as always.
Thanks mate 😘
awesome videos as always. so much stuff to learn. also I never told you but your presentation is top notch. the little labels recalling each paint and mix used are really useful. a lot of videos from other people don't have these and it really makes a difference for me. thanks for all your work !
Thanks mate, I really appreciate it
That white stripe in the hair really saves the whole model. It somehow minimizes the size of the hair. Just too much hair on her in my humble opinion! She needs to visit the craftworld barbershop 😀
Lol 😅
She does have a f*ck ton of hair
incredible video! one question, what is for you, the nicest brush to work contrasts? hair and size related? thanks!
Same as for everything, Rosemary and Co series 33 size 3.
I have a link in the description to them
Glad to see you hyped for the new Eldar. Thanks for another great tutorial - looking forward to one for when the new Avatar is released 😃
As soon as the mini gets here I will paint it for sure
Excellent video, will you using this for my Banshees 👍🏻
Awesome!
Just say NO to blue. Nobody can legally make you paint it without your permission.
😂😂😂
Great paint job! What's the music for this video it's nice and relaxing!
Darude - Sandstorm
sorry 😂
I just don't know the name, it was downloaded a long time ago and renamed to background. It's from the UA-cam audio library.
Hey mate, I challenge you to do a contrast painting guide on how to paint IDK Eidolon of Mathlann 😁
To big for me, but I will probably paint Idoneth at some point
Appreciated a lot your take on this scheme also what grass did you use for tufts?
It all will be on next week's video but they are Gamers Grass tiny tufts
The individual hair strands is what scares most painters.
That is very true, the best thing is you can Drybrush it pretty easily
I gotta stop watching these guides before I get too demotivated
VIEWS FOR THE VIEWS GOD
It happens to me too. You were watching some new model pictures and spilt some opened paint on Your trousers...
😂😂😂
it is pleasure to watch,as always..i wish i can spend more time practicing instead of watching
Thanks mate 😘
OMG, the best guide about the best mini
Thanks for your work Juan, its magnificent 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks 😘
Watched the whole video (amazing) then realized I didnt like it so had to come back and leave a like
VIEWS FOR THE VIEWS GOD
LIKES FOR THE LIKES THRONE
Amazing, love this, and really can't wait for the full plastic Phoenix Lord collection. But really looking forward to you doing the new Avatar!
Me too, I'm just waiting for the pre orders!
any chance for a howling banshee tutorial?
Here you have EVERYTHING you need to paint them, it would be just repeating myself.
Awesome job, as usual. Two questions: what brush are you using for the contrast paint, it looks rather large, like a size 3? And secondly, why the grey first and Black Templar on it? Black Templar is very opaque, wouldn’t it have sufficed? Just curious!
Rosemary and Co series 33 size 3, that's the brush I use FOR EVERYTHING. I rarely use any other brush.
For the second question, no, the black alone is not dark enough for what o wanted, gives a too grey look on it's own
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures I also use Rosemary & Co, but series 8 and size 2. ;) Was recommended by Sorastro. I’ll take a look at the 33 size 3, thanks! And thanks for the info.
Happy to help 😘
This is great, any favourite brush sizes?
Rosemary and Co series 33 size 3, that's basically all I use now
That intro though Juan! Tongue in cheek much! :D
Tongue in cheeks is my last name!!
Oh you said cheek, nevermind then
This was an excellent tutorial - quick question - how would you recommend painting the black armour for Ulthwe using 'eavy contrast?
Thanks again for this - you've given me the confidence to try painting again!
Go and watch my Raven Guard video, I would just use that
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Thank you for the insanely quick response! :D
Happy to help 😘
Awesome work! Not sure if it has been covered on this channel yet. But I sometimes like to mix two Contrast Paints with a bit of Retarder each for wetblending. They almost behave like aquarelle/waterpaint, which is especially useful on organic surfaces (e.g. feathers or the transition to an underbelly of different colour). But I'm sure there are more ways to apply that technique.
I personally prefer the feathering method, apply one colour overall, let dry and apply the second one and feather out.
Doesn't work everything but it fits my painting style better
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Your way seems more flexible, while needing less preparation work. Will definitely try. Thanks for the input!
Watch the Vargskyr video to see it in action
🤯👏👏👏👍👍
AB SO LUTE LY A-freakin-Mazing
Can't wait for more like this.
I'm just waiting like crazy for the pre-orders to come in
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Really looking forward to it. Your work is just so inspiring. You are the reason I got back into the hobby. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks mate 😘
You have *the* perfect timing! Just got some eldar!
Awesome!
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Would love some Biel tan tutorials :P
Wait, why would you want anything that's not Iyanden?
Makes no sense to me
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures *angry aspect warrior noises*
Iyanden also have them, they are just the best
Can you please do an Alaitoc video? :D
I will at some point
stuinning as always
Thanks 😘
Thanks for the nice guide
Happy to help 😘
Stunning, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching 😘
Looks drop dead gorgeous! Keep it up😀.
Thanks 😘
that brush control is off the charts
Thanks 😘
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO UNDERRATED CHANNEL...
Well, I'm happy with over 50k subs of I'm honest but I appreciate it
Its a master of the brush👏
😘
Incredible. : )
Thanks 😘
AWESOME as always
Thanks 😘
Amazing thanks
😘
😍
😘
What brush are you using there for your highlights please?
Well here I was testing some brushes but ultimately didn't liked them. I always recommend Rosemary and Co series 33 size 3, that's the brush I use for EVERYTHING, best brush ever made for me.
You have an affiliate link to them in the description.
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures thank you very much
Happy to help 😘
Hot damn!
😘
amazing
Thanks 😘
Ace
😘
Juan, you came through again! I was checking last night and it had been 6 whole days without a post from you, I was starting to get worried LOL I really enjoy your kind personality and amazing talent!
Thanks mate, sometimes videos take a bit longer to make than what I would like, it's the problems when one person does everything.
I would love to see what you come up with for some maggotkin of Nurgle, especially the blight kings and mortal characters.
I will at some point
Love this tutorial! May I ask what sort of brush(es) you are using for this? That is such a fine point you are using to apply those recess shades. With much thanks.
Rosemary and Co series 33 size 3
Absolutely gorgeous work, this is nicest painted Jain Zar figure I've seen yet! I have the original Jain Zar figure, I'll paint it up as a lark but there is no comparison to today's excellent new figure and a lump of metal from 30 years ago!
Happy painting!
Thanks mate 😘
thank you SO much! I'm going to use this for my solar watch custodes!
Happy to help 😘
The thing I really like about your videos is that they remind me of an art teacher back in the day showing the class how to use watercolors. Similar to Contrast, her watercolor paintings started out looking a bit janky and slowly over time, it began to look amazing and you hardly noticed the slow transition. The lesson then, as with your 'Eavy Contrast videos, is perseverance. Keep working it. You'll make mistakes but you can recover and keep going to a great finish.
And nothing in the video is incredibly difficult to do! Careful application of the Contrast by soaking up excess pooling and directing the rest of it where you want it to go for a smoother finish. Simple layering and edge highlighting. The most difficult technique in the whole video was the two brush blending/feathering you demonstrated on the marine, and it's so much easier to do with Contrast than normal paint.
Honestly, I don't know how you don't have more subs and more views/likes on your videos. You've got some of the best tutorials on UA-cam.
Thanks mate, I really appreciate that, you just made my day.
As for more subs, well I never even expected reaching 50k so I'm more than happy the way I am.
Fantastic video with some great tips as always. Thank you!
Happy to help 😘
That intro was funny & relatable. Great paint job.
Thanks mate 😘
Beautiful mini, your guides are the best! Thanks.
Thanks mate 😘
Jajajajajajaja!!! Eres un crack!!! Este tutorial me viene al pelo! Yuju!!!
Gracias guapo 😘
One of my favorite models as well! Great job cant wait for more Pointy Ears!
Thanks 😘
😂 You are Juan funny man
I cannot believe you are the first Juan to ever make that joke!
Lots of love all the way from Melbourne, Australia, mate! You have taught me heaps!
Thanks mate 😘
I really appreciate it
You did an amazing job. It looked so messy and came out so clean. Well done 🤘🏻
Thanks 😘
Knocked it out of the park it looks amazing!
Thanks 😘
Cómo mola!🤩
Gracias guapo 😘
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures ese extra de sombra ha sido un gran acierto 😁
Estoy de acuerdo
very very good tutorial. Simple and functional even for newbies!
Thanks
Thanks, I try and work hard to make my videos as easy to follow and simple as possible.
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures I think u got it figured out allready!! Thanks again, hope u achive this golden deamon
Me too 😂
Increible Juan, como siempre.
Gracias guapo 😘
Como siempre, espectacular.
Gracias ☺️
My favourite one you’ve done so far but I love Eldar so I might be a bit biased 😂
No you are not, Eldar are just the best it's a fact
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures you might be right! Let’s hope for a full aspect warriors revamp in a box set 😃
I was a bit disappointed (just a bit, the rest is amazing) that the only other plastic Phoenix Lord is Maugan, I was expecting a full roster in plastic but I guess I can wait
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures yeah I agree totally! I also want the warp spiders, swooping hawks, fire dragons and striking scorpions 🦂😎👌
Man, those poor Spiders....
Any quick guide to the base as well? Great video - I actually just finished painting my first own howling banshee and we did a few things the same way.
The recipe for the rocks will be done for next week
0:20 Yeah Juan, now you understand what happens to all of us when you film yourself licking brushes.
Mission accomplished
OMG how do you keep your brush tips holding their shape like that? No matter how I try the tip always separates :(
Get a good brush, larger is better and never let paint get into the ferrule
Brilliant tutorial again. I cannot wait to start my eldar
Thanks 😘
